about
Acid Pauli aka Martin Gretschmann

Over the last 20 years Martin Gretschmann has been exploring new fields of music off the mainstream paths: psychedelic, adventurous and full of musicality.

In the mid 1990s Martin Gretschmann entered the light of attention with his pseudonym Console, an act he is known for until today. Shortly thereafter, Martin Gretschmann became a part of The Notwist and and added a certain electronic twist to the band. With his solo project Acid Pauli he created several records, remixes and podcast in the last couple of years. Since 2011 Acid Pauli lives in Berlin, where he became a part of the collective The Feathered Sun.

After his debut album "Mst“ released on Clown & Sunset in 2012 his second album BLD was released on his in-house record label Ouïe in early 2017. Martin founded this record label together with Nico Stojan and handled the first release themselves...

  • Adriatique

After getting to know each other in Zürich in 2008, Adrian Shala and Adrian Schweizer became inseparable, not just as friends, but also as artists. The two men carved out a career as one of the most consistently delivering DJ/producer duos in the house and techno scene: Adriatique. The key to an enduring partnership is, of course, to complement each other, and the two Adrians do so admirably. Music-wise, their various tastes combine into one unique sound, and their respective preference for studio work and performance means that both aspects are equally well covered. Adriatique’s DJ performances as well as their productions are long, meditative, relentlessly building affairs, ever challenging the listener with subtle twists interrupting their hypnotic groove. There is more to the duo than just a well-oiled electronic music machine, however. They also live together, draw plans together, and support art in all its forms together. ~ Official Website

As a music maker, or ‘jali’ by birthright, Amadou embodies the griot traditions of the Mandinka of West Africa. • ÂME

Two friends meet outside Karlsruhe, in Schwarzwald. One is an explorer of galaxies far away, the other a composer of fragments. Together they create a joie de vivre, arranging and deconstructing their creations, their own formations. Beneath their feet, a stone world rests against the living world, touching rivers, mountains, forest floors and the first foot trails between Schwarzwald, Vosges Mountains and Naturpark Pfälzerwald. This stone world is made of smooth subterranean rock that swirls and folds. Altered from its original igneous by pressures a hundred thousand years strong. What was once sharp is now smooth. Lines become curves, reversals. If you were to try read its origin, its strata, you would not tell which direction the past flowed or the future began.

Considering his meteoric rise to fame, it would be easy to stereotype Black Coffee as just another black diamond, a BEE beat magnet out to mine the insatiable upwardly mobile urban house-party market. But as he proved on his South African Music Award-winning album Home Brewed, this DJ and producer defies convention. Sidestepping Afro-house clichés and stage-managed highs in favour of restrained sophistication, Black Coffee’s penchant is for true Afropolitan house: home-brewed but trendsetting, fashion-conscious and future-focused. Expect almost sculptural balance and beauty.

  • Channel Tres

Channel Tres is a producer, DJ, musician and artist from Compton, CA whose style and aesthetic is quickly making him one of the most buzz-worthy talents to hit the scene. Channel Tres fell in love with the art of music and production at the early age of nine when he stumbled across a CD entitled "The Love Below". From that moment, he knew he wanted to make and be a part of how music inspires people. He started playing drums and directing the church choir as a teenager. Then his desire to explore further music connections led him to attend University in Oklahoma where he studied music technology, composition and theory. His education only broadened his knowledge and love for the craft and set him on a path to create music that is clearly outside of the box.

  • Cristoph

Cristoph hails from Newcastle upon Tyne, coming from a family deeply entrenched in the art of DJing. With both his father and older brother working in the industry, Cristoph was always destined to take the spotlight. Immersing himself in the club environment from an early age, it wasn’t long until he found himself cutting his teeth on vinyl and diligently studying the tools of the trade. The mysterious producer has proven himself a bona fide force to be reckoned with landmark releases on imprints like Last Night on Earth and Bedrock. Now, with the official backing of Eric Prydz, he’s primed for even greater success. It’s no surprise his music has caught on so fervently: simply put, Cristoph’s sound is infectious. In 2016, Cristoph achieved his biggest breakthrough yet, joining Hot Since 82’s white-hot Knee Deep in Sound imprint and becoming the inaugural artist to launch the label’s coveted ‘8-track’ album series. ~ Resident Advisor

  • Dee Diggs

A selectress with no inhibitions digging & choosing parts that build to Adventurous, Energetic, Seductive, & Rapturous sets spanning many genres. Dee Diggs is a DJ and writer based in Brooklyn, NY. She is unapologetically black, queer, and a life long student of the tenets of House Music. The year 2020 found her at the top of her game after a debut European tour during August 2019, her name was popping up on top bills on a weekly basis in NYC. Her energetic, yet deep approach to DJing has seen this Boston to Brooklyn transplant lighting up dancefloors all over; in particular, garnering attention in the queer party scene. This mixes well with her ethos: using her influence to create space for marginalized groups to express & organize themselves. Her aim is to contribute to & sustain more spaces where these groups are valued and thanked by name for their contributions to humanity. Thank the OG Black innovators of House & Techno! Thank you, Disco-era Queens & Queers alike for the theatrics & fanfare of nightlife as we know it! There are homages to these origins alluded to in her taste and most noteworthy mixes. Dee Diggs’ mix for FACT Magazine was released in March 2019 and charted on Pitchfork’s and Resident Advisors’ own Best Mixes of 2019 lists. It cut an arch through dance music’s past and present to convey an interesting melding of Dee’s signature sounds: lyrical storied tracks, sensual club edits, soulful realness, sneaky grooves, passionate thumpers, and nostalgic endings. Her eponymous party, House of Diggs debuted in February 2020 to stir and settle the hearts of all the lovers of house, funk, soul, disco, and R&B in Brooklyn, before the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent club closings curtailed that momentum for 1.5 years. However, 2021 has found her making strides again. Diggs is still crafting stellar DJ mixes for her Soundcloud and radio guest spots, while also building her music production chops in her home studio in Brooklyn. She has resumed curating House of Diggs as an event series at Jupiter Disco, a rotary focused intimate dance floor in Bushwick and also holds a DJ residency at a hi-fi nightclub in Gowanus, BK named Public Records.

  • Denis Sulta

Glasgow-based DJ/producer Hector Barbour (aka Denis Sulta) creates vivacious, melodic house with underground sensibilities. Born in Glasgow in 1993, he grew up with a keen interest in dance music, landing his first job at the infamous record shop Rubadub. It was during his tenure there that he took up both music production and DJ'ing under the guidance of his co-workers, who were all very passionate about the scene. His early tracks were darker in tone, but as he started playing more and more gigs, his music became more uplifting. To reflect the change in style, he reversed the name Atlus to Sulta and adopted Denis as a prefix (originally spelled "Dennis," a printing error led him to drop an "n" in favor of Denis). From there he went on to release EPs, eventually setting up his own label and brand, Sulta Selects. Barbour took the brand on a global tour, which became so popular that it spawned a full festival, FLY Open Air: Sulta Selects, held at Hopetoun House just outside of Edinburgh. ~ AllMusic

  • DJ Fuckoff

̸BIOGRAPHY Who is taking the global bass underground by storm? It’s DJ Fuckoff Bitch! The New Zealand-born DJ, Producer and MC has come a long way since arriving in Berlin with nothing but a dream and a backpack: From smashing warehouse raves, turning streams into fully-fledged dance-off’s or casually mashing-up renowned dance floors, Fuckoff’s relentless positive energy and refreshingly nonchalant style have earned her a serious hype and a loyal following. Breaking through under the unlikely circumstances of full lockdown and after her steamy HÖR debut went viral, Fuckoff’s productions instantly turned heads. With her signature provocative lyrics, breakneck speed and energy-laden twists, standouts like “B.I.M.B.” and her contribution to “Trick” by Dagga have become instantly recognizable DJ favorites that saw releases on the likes of International Chrome & none/such recordings. While her DJ debut had to be postponed for over a year, Fuckoff wasted no time to blow the roof off parties. Dealing dancefloor damage around Berlin & neighbouring countries, she serves a fast-paced mixing style with unapologetic blends across various shades of the hardcore spectrum. On top of her energetic mixing, her standout live PA’s add an extra threat to her shows, regularly sending ravers into a craze. While channeling a distinctively youthful energy, DJ Fuckoff’s roots go way back: Literally growing up at early Bush Doof’s organized by her parents, electronic music has been integral from the earliest of ages. After cutting her teeth as a producer and MC on throwback hip hop productions, her focus soon shifted to electronic music. While being thoroughly informed by previous generations of dance music, DJ Fuckoff's own take – as the name suggests – doesn’t fear eroding genres, standards and stereotypes.

As one of the key residents and programmers at Opium Club in Vilnius, where he runs his club night "Smala", Manfredas has been instrumental in creating a culture that has led some mega-respected DJs to call it their favourite club in the world. Space feels like a feedback loop of love, dramatic intensity, and open-minded passion that draws everyone deeper into the music. Fact: the best DJs are always residents. Her talent for weaving musical narratives has been recognised by local and international labels, having already constructed revered mixes for Nous’klaer, Truants, c- and Patterns of Perception. Whilst the popularity of these mixes clearly proves her ear for telling stories with music, it’s her bubbly presence behind the booth that really makes her stand out. Kia is an open-eared music digger, searching tirelessly for lost obscurities to pair alongside modern finds and hidden gems by local artists. She wields together her intimate knowledge of local music and attuned ear, bringing it all to a masterful fruition in her record label, ‘Animalia’, with an ambient sub label ‘Cirrus’ recently launched. Beginning in 2019, Animalia is now home to a highly reputable powerhouse of releases, mixes and events which pave the way forward for the future of electronic dance music in Australia. Bringing underground and DIY sounds to the forefront, Kia encourages experimentation and nuance in every release. Bookings at Amsterdam Dance Event, Dekmantel, Sustain Release and Monument festival are a part of a growing list of impressive gigs Kia is being booked for. As she relocates to Europe in early 2023, with a number of exciting shows on the horizon and solo productions in the works, Kia is without a doubt one to keep tabs on.

̸BIOGRAPHY DJ and producer based in Leeds, UK. Resident @ On Rotation. 1/2 of Space Cadets w/ Adam Pits As the son of an accomplished jazz guitarist and a pop singer, Lisene (Marlon Morris) was brought up surrounded by a wide spectrum of music from an early age. Living in the cultural melting pot of Brixton, his exposure to DIY soundsystem culture as well as his own musical experimentations with family and friends naturally lead to an interest in both the scientific and musical side of studio work. After relocating to Leeds to study audio engineering, he released two records on the then-unknown but now highly sought after 'day by day' label, informed by 90s techno, IDM, and trance. This was followed by a collaboration with his friend of over 15 years Adam Pits, with their first release as Space Cadets on Seven Hills picking up a huge amount of attention and landing them a string of gigs across both the UK and EU. No stranger to burning the midnight oil to hunt for tracks, Lisene's record bag is of the highest standard, diverse and full of surprises. Channeling the spirit of the 90s through the sound of the future via a stash of 12" obscurities that would be the envy of a collector twice his age, his sets flit around the psychedelic fringes where techno, trance, breaks and electro meet, weaving together a sonic tapestry far greater than the sum of its parts. With multiple Space Cadets EPs about to launch on some of the biggest labels on the scene, as well as his own solo projects piling up, 2020 is shaping up to be a breakout year for Marlon. ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY adam pits & lisene present space cadets - shr002 undercurrents - day by day 002 take it day by day - day by day 001

  • Marcel Dettmann

DJ and producer Marcel Dettmann is recognised as one of the most influential proponents of contemporary techno. Widely associated with iconic trademarks including Berlin, Berghain and Hard Wax, Dettmann stays true to his roots by consistently innovating his interpretation of electronic music, integrating art with the scene. Raised in the former GDR, in a small town near Berlin, Dettmann had already begun to develop his passion for electronic music in his youth. Bands like Depeche Mode, The Cure and Front 242, as well as post-punk and industrial, count as his earliest influences, long before he discovered his affinity for techno. His hometown lacked a record store specialising in electronic music, so between 1995 and 1998 Dettmann began selling vinyl from his own home. He purchased records from various distributers, Hard Wax amongst others, both to resell to his friends and to cement the foundation for his own considerable collection. Like many of his friends, the mid-nineties saw Dettmann frequenting Berlin’s nightlife. This included club institutions E-Werk and Tresor where the resident DJs of that time aroused his passion for the Chicago and Detroit influenced sound. In 1999, after many (including self-organised) parties, his turning point came; Dettmann began to work as a resident DJ at Ostgut, Berghain’s predecessor. Shortly thereafter upon receiving a job offer from Hard Wax, he finally moved to Berlin. His apprenticeship as a vinyl buyer and seller as well as DJ, granted him an extensive depth of musical knowledge and intuition. Dettmann quests tirelessly for new ways and inspiration to further develop his own concept of electronic music. His label MDR (Marcel Dettmann Records) serves as a platform upon which to shape his musical vision, and through its releases, to launch new talent onto the techno scene. As a curator and producer, Dettmann fosters the call to create in a way which is equally timeless and innovative. His own releases comprise two albums on Ostgut Ton, numerous singles and remixes for artists of various genres – Junior Boys, Fever Ray, Moderat, Commix, Clark and Laibach to name a few. Furthermore, he has produced compilation albums for London’s fabric club, Berlin’s Berghain, the Belgian techno label Music Man and one issue of the DJ Kicks compilation series on !K7 imprint. Outside of the club context, Marcel Dettmann has established himself as a multi-faceted artist. He designed the sound concept for „New Works“, an exhibition of photographer Frederike von Rauch, contributed to the contemporary dance project „Masse“ – together with Frank Wiedemann and choreographer Nadja Saidakowa in cooperation with Berghain and the Berlin State Ballet. His single “Seduction feat. Emika” provided the soundtrack to director and screenwriter Parker Ellerman’s short film of the same name. As a passionate DJ and one of the faces of Berghain, Dettmann seeks to inspire his listeners with sounds both reduced and rough, balanced by emotional and surprising moments throughout his sets. Between pure techno, banging Chicago, tracks old and new of the past twenty-five years, Marcel Dettmann communicates his message with an apparent effortlessness.

“Nicolas lutz has been influenced by his father's record collection”....Errr., NOT.. As much as I wouldn't like to discard one's childhood influences to forming one's artistic make up (that is not Nico's case anyway, hehe) I would still prefer to focus on other aspects which are equally, if not more important when talking about this specific artist. What that artist name (and real name) entails is a very deep trip into an extremely creative mind, a very interesting one. The main and very special aspect of what makes Nicolas Lutz him artistically is the ethos in how he stands by his music, his vision. Nicolas' medium of choice is vinyl and the cultural tradition it brings with it. In such a digital age the tendency from the general public to think that Djs that only use vinyl are ‘dinosaurs’or ‘behind’ or ‘limited’ is apparent and the beauty about Nicolas is that he proves them wrong leaving them wondering what has hit them on a dance floor. Here is where the most special thing that makes up...

  • Todd Terje

Following a string of celebrated releases leaning on everything from kitschy euro sounds to deep funk and latin jazz, the relatively new to the scene Todd Terje has already made his mark within dance music circuits. Gems such as the cheese monster “Eurodans” and the latin disco-fuelled edit of Jacko’s “Can’t Help it” under his Tangoterje edit-moniker instantly made industry types and clubbers alike go bananas, and whatever the 25 year old Norwegian puts his fingers on, it always comes out with that crucial blend of musicality and playfulness.,Growing up in the rural village of Mjøndalen, dance music influences were scarce, and no, there was never any Diskoklubb there. Not a lot of obscure disco or acid house in his milk either. However, during the early/mid nineties dance culture sneaked it way into even the most remote parts of Norway, thanks to the popularity of acts like The Prodigy and national radio stations filling prime time slots with underground jocks Olle Abstract and Pål “Strangefruit” Nyhus. On the more personal level, Terje’s sister was a close friend of the late Tore “Erot” Kroknes, and the tapes she brought home to the young Terje became a major source of inspiration. Playing around in his early teens on a crap PC together with his mate Dølle Jølle, Terje made his first attempts on house and jungle, which they played from cassette tapes on junior high school-dances. Maybe too young for old music back then, Terje reckoned that disco was all a bit silly – until Bjørn Torske’s “Sexy Disco” caught his ears in 1999.,Training to become a pianist Terje enrolled at a local music school, but to his disappointment there wasn’t much jazz being taught there. Gradually leaving the musical career path, he later moved on to studying physics at the University of Oslo. Although not longer aspiring to become a pianist, he was by no means over music. In 2001 Terje got in touch with Prins Thomas, who was at the time working at HS Records in Oslo. Thomas soon recognized his potential, and helped pushing Terje in the right directions. Oslo is a small place where like minded folks tend to join forces, and with his thorough musical understanding and nerdy like interest in old and new records spanning from that new Idjut Boys 12" to experimental synth bands very few of us have ever heard of, he soon became one of the key players on the Oslo electronic disco scene. Besides working on his own projects, Terje’s played on some of Prins Thomas’ tracks, and not to mention his remix of the Lindstrøm 12" “Another Station”.,Is it house, funk, techno or disco? Terje is speaks of catchy rhythms, dubby sounds, dreamy synth layers, cinematic moods, a playful approach and searching for that one nerve when asked to describe his music, and the resistance to being pigeonholed is obvious. His next ambition is to make a concept album ala Voyage’s first “around-the-world” release, if he can find time between other projects, studies and DJ gigs. Terje has already played around Europe, and is looking forward to gigs in Japan and NYC this summer. “I both like playing big room/macho style, but at the same time it’s the girls I play for really. So I guess it’s a mixture of high octane, leather homo-disco done up with mambo, coconuts and lipstick”. Definitely one to look out for.

Now based in Amsterdam, he moved to the Dutch capital in early 2018 — and has barely had time to pause for breath since. A producer who boasts an impressively prolific streak, Toman started his musical journey at an early age. More recently, his unique take on house and techno has led him to much-renowned outlets such as We R House, Cyclic, META, No Art, PIV, Blind Vision and Inermu, yet Toman’s story is no overnight success. On the contrary, his is one that that’s as attributable to a ceaseless work ethic as it is a music-loving upbringing and an unyielding appreciation of sound. Fascinated by all things percussion, Toman began learning the drums in his early teens, a move that would eventually steer him toward what he considers the “unrestrictive complexities of electronic music”. A producer with an endlessly eclectic palette, Toman cites the likes of Underworld, Minilogue, and Terry Lee Brown Jr as influences, all of whom attest in some way to his own eclectic palette.
