about
New comer Chingyi has quickly risen to become Hong Kong's top taste makers in the underground scene in the last year. She shares her intimate collection of non-linearly rich yet delicate sounds. As the queen of Downtempo, her sonic journeys are composed of a range of “sloth techno”, minimal and organic house. Effortlessly and unhurriedly creating a soundscape of inner colours and deep connection. Like twilight, Chingyi meanders between light and dark, connecting outer and inner worlds with her ethereal, multi-dimensional yet rooted, bass-driven sounds.

Music to her is a tool for awareness that has the potential to generate positive change in oneself and the world. Listen with your heart, and allow yourself to journey within.

  • Dan-neo

As a film critic and scholar, Dan-Neo is a firm believer in storytelling. His DJ sets often bring you ups-and-downs by merging different genres across countries and eras, drawing elements from disco, house, techno, dub-step and more. He can demonstrate an effortlessness of going from hard bangers to soft chill-out tunes, and vice versa. The unique texture of his sound is a result of adopting both minimal and maximal approaches to musical selection and mixing skill. Nonetheless, his musical taste is deeply rooted in those beats and tunes that embrace a cinematic and cosmic tone. Dan-Neo has been honing his skills as a DJ after he joined Acadana - the best kept secret in Hong Kong - back in 2016. Apart from managing parties and events at Acadana, he regularly plays at different bars and clubs across Hong Kong, such as, 宀 Club, Ruby, Oma and Social Room. • DJ Tynee

Growing up in New York City, DJ Tynee ( Real name Elaine Shin ) had a strong passion for electronic music that became apparent by age 7; the year she became a proud owner of her first Ghetto Blaster. From Miami Freestyle to the UK New Romantic sound, soulful House to the origins of Electro Breakbeat, she was con- stantly seeking the world for fascinating new music. DJ Tynee’s obsession with music and all its meticulous details were perhaps a sign of things to come. Returning to Hong Kong, she was overwhelmed by the underground U.K. Progressive and Breakbeat club movement taking place at the time. This was a time when DJ heavy- weights like Sasha and John Digweed first surfaced in Hong Kong. She got a chance to work with a major promoter who debut’d international legends like Sven Vath, Deep Dish ( Dubfire and Sharem Jey), Carl Cox...

  • Casey Anderson

Casey Anderson’s take on house and techno is based on his deep respect for dance music’s roots: Detroit techno, Soul Train funk, and cosmic German electronic music. Ignoring charts, trends and clichés, his DJ sets are playful and unpredictable. Casey is constantly connecting new dots between obscure, classic and futuristic 4/4 dance music without shying away from the unexpected 80s synthpop or a disco anthem at peak hour. In 2013 the American-born DJ released his first tracks on Italian label Opilec Music (alongside inspirations like Derrick May and Todd Terje) before joining fellow Hong Kong DJ Frederic Neve to launch Typhoon 8 Records where he has continued to release deep, dubby techno and house. Scoring his first DJ residencies at leading underground spots Yumla and Bassment, since 2009 he's played the closing slot at the city's Clockenflap Music Festival twice, and after co-founding the party collective Humdrum he frequently hosted and supported international guests like Deetron, Jimpster...

  • meta (Cipher)

Born and raised in North London, music has been a consistent undercurrent throughout meta's life; from his early days spent recording his favourite songs from the radio, and to the influences from his parents' and friends' selections. Having initially focused on primarily playing psychedelic trance, an introduction to Sandwell District's revered 'Feed Forward' LP signaled the start of a new phase. A torrent of new influences then led meta on a meandering path of esoteric techno. At present, meta avoids sitting in any one pocket; contented more with crossing over and exploring genre mutations. By embracing every personal musical imprint, he tries best to convey these broad elements onto the dance floor. With a growing reputation as a versatile taste-maker; meta's forward thinking yet nostalgic approach continues to draw praise. Based in Hong Kong, he is a resident of Cipher, and a regular selector on the local circuit.

While living in Singapore, he co-ran the notoriously decadent after-hours series Breakfast Club and later held a residency at Headquarters - where his off-kilter selections made him an ideal supporting act for visiting DJs like Black Merlin and Intergalactic Gary. Currently based in Hong Kong, he is now a resident of 宀 and their flagship industrial/ebm/techno night - Entropy 熵.
