Adam Beyer is a Swedish techno producer and DJ. He is the founder of Drumcode Records, and is one of several Swedish techno artists to emerge in the mid-1990s, along with Cari Lekebusch and Jesper Dahlbäck. The key to an enduring partnership is, of course, to complement each other, and the two Adrians do so admirably. Music-wise, their various tastes combine into one unique sound, and their respective preference for studio work and performance means that both aspects are equally well covered. Amelie Lens has risen rapidly through the European techno ranks over the past couple of years. She’s now consistently high up the bill (if not topping it) at events like Awakenings, DGTL and Ibiza staples DC-10 and Hï, and this year debuts in the Top 100 DJs poll. The Belgian’s Lenske label has simultaneously gone from strength to strength, building its name around the five-person crew of AIROD, Farrago, Milo Spkyers, Ahl Iver and Lens herself. Granite-tough techno is the name of the game; epic vibes suited to the cavernous hangars Lens fills on a regular basis. A couple of years after winning the Beatport Breakthrough Award in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll, ANNA enters the list at No.95. Known to her parents as Ana Miranda, she went from playing to a 1,500-strong crowd at the age of 14 in her home country of Brazil to fronting DJ Mag North America in 2019. New music from ANNA has been huge in festival sets for many world-leading techno DJs all summer. Then there was the richly deserved Essential Mix for the BBC that started 2019 off right, as the Brazilian distilled 20 years of DJing experience into an inspiring two-hour techno masterclass. DJ Mag rightly recognised her talents, putting her on the cover of their North American edition in February, a nod to the breakaway impact she’s had on that region.

One of dance music’s brightest stars, 27-year old Berlin based producer and live act Ben Böhmer has had another monumental year. His debut album ‘Breathing’, released on Anjunadeep at the end of 2019, has since attained over 25 million streams, drawing admirers from across the Electronic music spectrum; including Boris Brejcha, who remixed the title track and pronounced Ben as his ‘Breakthrough Artist of 2020’. A string of other singles and remixes released across the year have seen Ben become a mainstay in the flagship Electronic playlists and Beatport 100, as he sets his sights on his second album, due out towards the end of 2021.

Berlin born DJ, producer and label owner Ben Klock is without a doubt one of the most significant characters in techno’s recent history. A resident at Berghain since its opening in 2004, he has been able to leave his mark on the club’s unique sound, in turn the special space influenced Klock’s approach as a DJ and producer as well. Playing techno sets full of hypnotic, deep and heavy grooves, releasing records on Ostgut Ton and last but not least the aesthetics of his own label Klockworks (founded in 2006), have earned him an excellent international reputation over the last few years. Supported by stringent and enthralling tracks, remixes for such diverse artists as Kerri Chandler, Martyn or Depeche Mode, the revered debut album “One” on Ostgut Ton and his Berghain mix, Ben Klock’s name is synonymous with the vitalization of an essential definition of techno.

FJAAK, the Berlin-based duo of hardware heads, have been constantly making a name for themselves over the last half a decade. Having grown up together in Spandau on the outskirts of Berlin, Felix Wagner and Aaron Röbig began quite early to create all different kinds of music before ending up taking on the city’s heritage – techno – to make it their own.

̸BIOGRAPHY DJ, producer and affiliate of Intercept records based in [NL] French II is a Dutch DJ and producer based in Tilburg. Drawing from a wide range of influences, his functional and murky, breaks- and percussion-heavy sound especially depicts Frank’s deep-rooted ties to UK bass music. He has been releasing on Intercept Records, a label and crew close to his heart, and hosts his own night Go! in his hometown Tilburg. French II weavs together eclectic mixes of breaks, Bass and techno. In September 2021 he earned himself a residency at the celebrated Amsterdam DJ-bar Radio Radio. With the familiar genre-disobedience, he seems to vent his more introspective side and provide the freedom for experimentation, giving room for melancholic atmospheres and brooding basslines to step in.

Gerd Janson runs the Running Back label, and DJs around the world under the name Gerd Janson. Gerd Janson is running the German label Running Back together with Thorsten Scheu (aka Glance). As many kids who have grown up in the early 90s in the South West of Germany, Gerd Janson was a regular guest at Mannheim’s legendary Milk Club. Although this venue was most popular for putting jungle on the map in Germany, Gerd always used to wait eagerly for the early morning hours when the pace slowed down and US styled house was the ruling sound. In the following years, his deep love for house and disco music was fed in Frankfurt’s Wild Pitch Club by Heiko MSO and Ata. In 1998, Gerd Janson finally had his first DJ residency at Darmstadt’s Café Kesselhaus.

As one of Europe’s most wanted underground weapons, Héctor Oaks style stands out for playing the unexpected and the highly engaging. British deep/tech-house DJ and producer Daley Padley has achieved a remarkable amount of success under the name Hot Since 82. His tracks are energetic and a touch dramatic, yet smooth and not over-produced, and perfectly tailored for clubs and dance festivals. While house and techno trace their roots to the marginal and mainly black American underground, its taken a relatively small country in the European lowlands to flip electronic music on its head and turn it into the global powerhouse it is today. Berlin based DJ, producer and label owner Len Faki is one of the most outstanding and in-demand artists in techno's present age. He is an internationally requested DJ, whose productions and remixes are played by techno’s most prominent names. Being a resident at Berlin’s prime techno club Berghain since its opening in 2004 keeps him open-minded as both, DJ and producer. Amsterdam based DJ and producer Luuk van Dijk (’96) is dominating the house scene through his productions and on stage with his contagious energy and radiant personality. Spain-based producer Eric Estornel initially reserved the name Maceo Plex for his festival-friendly house productions before gradually taking the project into a darker, more introspective direction. After establishing himself in the techno world for his work as Maetrik beginning in the early 2000s, and exploring more abstract electro and IDM as Mariel Ito around the middle of the decade, he began releasing some of his most accessible tracks under the Maceo Plex handle starting in 2009. In 2020, she played a series of live stream events and virtual festivals including an empty Dance Arena at EXIT and even on top of Mount Olympus in Greece. She also collaborated with streaming giants Spotify when she was chosen to be part of their trackID series, providing a regularly updated playlist to the platform that includes tracks from her own label as well as a diverse collection of releases from across multiple genres. Lulled in the arts since his childhood, his connection with music is made at an early age. But it's in 2013 that he made his first encounter with the Parisian electronic scene which inspired him to start producing his own tracks. Over the years, Quelza has made a name for himself in the scene, earning the respect of renowned artists, such as Oscar Mulero, DVS1, Marcel Dettmann, Ancient Methods, Efdemin or Tommy Four Seven to name a few, and committing to in-depth projects and releases. Quelza is assiduous when it comes to his music - his releases on labels like Mord Records, Palinoia, 47, Hayes Collective and others, push an unorthodox crystal clarity and cinematic sound design that has become his signature as an artist - which, combined with his unique DJ sets, has earned him a spot at some of the most prestigious clubs in Berlin (where he is currently based) and abroad, such as: Berghain, Tresor, Fabric London, Reaktor, KHIDI and several more. Generally billed just by her first name, Rebekah Teasdale is a DJ and producer from Birmingham, England who has been active since the mid-'90s. Like most figures of the Birmingham techno scene, her tracks are often hard, dark, and minimalist, with heavy pounding beats and gradual suspenseful development. An avid clubgoer since her youth, she began spinning records in 1996, at the age of 16. She spent several years as a model in order to provide financial support for her DJ career. She released an edit of the Mighty Dub Katz's house anthem "It's Just Another Groove" in 2004, but her first original productions, starting with 2007's "Toad in a Hole," were minimal tech-house. By the early 2010s, her sound had gotten darker and heavier, and she eventually caught the attention of Chris Liebing, who released Rebekah's Cycles EP on his CLR label in 2013. ~ AllMusic

Recondite is the alias of German musician Lorenz Brunner. Since launching his Recondite project in 2011, Brunner has released four albums and numerous EPs to imprints such as Dystopian, Innervisions, Hotflush, and Ghostly International. All the while, Brunner has been diligently touring his live show around the world: a concise showcase in which he performs all original music. Recondite is currently at work on his fifth album, which will be released in 2018 on his own record label Plangent Records.

As one of the most heavily supported and best-sold techno producers of the moment, notorious for his powerful live performances at renowned festivals and clubs, Reinier Zonneveld is currently taking over the contemporary scene with his unique view on techno. In spite of his young age, Zonneveld already managed to score several charting hits, including Beatport overall no.1 “Things We Might Have Said”, which was included on his well-received artist album “Megacity Servant” and later on landed in a Hollywood production.

Belgian DJ, owner of the Kalahari Oyster Cult label and the vinyl-focused distribution One Eye Witness. Working a symbiotic balance between his day job behind the steering wheel of Amsterdam-based webshop and distributor One Eye Witness and his seafood-luvin'label Kalahari Oyster Cult, when the night clocks in, Brussels native Rey Colino has long proven his dedication and talent when it comes to ubiquitous on and off-stage dancefloor busting operations. Thrusting his arrows smack dab the intersection of '90s grown ambient techno, sun-bleached house, further hybrid bassy riddims, and acid-infused electronics, Colino casts his net far and wide to paint amply textured, straight-out groovy narratives that, in addition to syncing up the dancers together through elaborate selections and surgical DJ swagger, sure know how to buildup the highest levels of energy and harness the ensuing storm with ever consistent style and panache.

Richie Hawtin played an essential role in developing the sound of minimal techno, as well as spreading its popularity throughout the global club scene. Most famous for his experimental acid techno productions as Plastikman, including the classic albums Musik (1994) and Consumed (1998), he is equally well-regarded for his groundbreaking live sets and mix CDs (especially 1999's Decks, EFX & 909) which utilize cutting-edge DJ technology, fusing loops of techno records with additional synthesizers and drum machines. Initially based in Windsor, Ontario and connected with the techno scene in nearby Detroit, he co-founded the highly influential Plus 8 (and its harder sublabel Probe Records) along with John Acquaviva, later establishing Minus and relocating to Berlin during the early 2000s, just as minimal techno began receiving mainstream exposure. Stephan Bodzin has been a hugely influential figure within the global techno scene for years. The reason the German has endured where many had fallen by the wayside is because of his devotion to authenticity. “Without it, everything would appear to be nothing more than a hollow shell,” says the son of an experimental musician who is now a revered talent in his own right. After starting out by composing music for several prestigious European theatres, Stephan Bodzin soon fell in love with nocturnal club sounds and began producing his own brand of techno. He impressed right from the off and has gone on to work with Oliver Huntemann under myriad aliases including Rekorder or with Marc Romboy including on albums like “Luna” and more recently “Kerberos & Styx” in 2014. As a solo producer Stephan Bodzin have defined the modern techno scene and has amassed an enviable discography that takes in established labels. ~ Official Website

Through his recordings, epic-length DJ sets, dozens of commercial mix albums, and label operations, Sven Väth is one German trance and techno's most popular proponents. Originally the lead singer of a dance-pop group named OFF, Väth hit the big time in 1986 when OFF's "Electrica Salsa (Baba Baba)" became a number three pop hit in their native country. The band later disintegrated, leaving Väth free to pursue his interest in the hard trance underground of Frankfurt. An Accident in ParadiseVäth became a DJ of note for his marathon sets, which sometimes approached 24 hours, and his 1992 co-founding of Harthouse Records. His own releases on the label included those by Barbarella, Astral Pilot, and Metal Masters with the help of his partner, Ralf Hildenbeutel. Blessed with an agreement connecting Harthouse and its subsidiaries to the American major label Warner Bros., Väth released Accident in Paradise, again with contributions from Hildenbeutel, as his first solo album.

Tale Of Us are Berlin-based musical partnership Karm and Matteo who are currently re-writing the rulebook for deeply moving, emotional electronic music.

That being said Woody still caught glimpses of the psychadelic Techno, mystical ambient, free tribal tekno and push forward goa and psy-trance movements but locally it failed to rival that of the likes of Rotterdam & Amsterdam.....
