about
Emanate (Emily & Nate) fell in love with the mystique of electronic music at an early age. Nathan Vain knew right away what his future passion held when he acquired his first turntables at the age of 17. Emily Fox took a different route starting her journey in the music scene as an organizer and promoter. This endeavor lead to landing Nathan his first residency at a popular after hours spot back in 2001.

A few years down the road and a desire for their success growing strong they moved to San Francisco together and started producing music as Emanate. Nathan enhanced his knowledge of music and the industry working at DanceRecords.com
from ‘04 to ‘09 as a Content Manager. That was followed by a stint interning at the
Mothership / Dirtybird labels. He also spent some time at the DJTechTools office working with midi controllers and software. Emily has developed her understanding of electronic music culture by throwing various events throughout San Francisco over the years. She also spent some time as a member of (a few) bands where she was writing songs, singing and playing keyboard. Emily’s next logical step became DJing, as a way to expand her talents and performance needs.

Following the path of natural evolution they started up their own label Mioli Music in 2010 (Move It Or Lose It). Since 2010 they’ve released music as Emanate and individually. They have also signed various international artists on Mioli.
Both Emanate and Mioli had a breakout year in 2013 when Kollektiv Turmstrasse charted their remixes of Lily Ackerman’s “Africa” and also their remix of Tr-Ack’s “Stay” on Resident Advisor. Being featured, charted and played in DJ sets along with the likes of Stimming, Adriatique, Bonobo and David August was a milestone that validated their hard work and dedication, it also alerted the world of their arrival.

A relocation to Berlin in early 2014 helped formulate and solidify their craft and sound. While in Berlin Emanate produced and released their debut album “Alliance” and played their first Live Show. The Alliance album was well received and featured on various music magazine websites and dance music blogs but also recognized by Emanate as an immensely developmental experience. 2016 was a remarkable year in their progression touring Mexico, Ibiza, Bulgaria, Berlin. With festival bookings at BPM, Mountains in the Meadows and Northern Nights. Most recently they toured
the U.S. performing at imfamous venues such as TV Lounge, Spy Bar and Members Only.

From Techno, Tech House to Deep House you can expect a clever blend and balance of deep and edgy music that is thoughtfully procured.

  • Jaime James

Jaime James’ foray into the DJ scene began during the mid-80s in Northern California. Though he was affiliated with various Bay Area DJ crews, it wasn’t until his younger brother brought home a pair of rickety belt-drive Technics, and a beat-up 2-channel mixer, that things truly began. Back then, his vinyl record purchasing habit leaned heavily into hip hop. Things gained momentum after the unfortunate passing of the DJ and owner of Divine Styles Productions; Jaime and his brother subsequently assumed ownership and continued to DJ for the next several years, while also providing sound and lighting reinforcement. Then, after a nearly ten-year hiatus and with mobile DJ’ing far behind him, Jaime became involved in the dance music scene in 2005. Since then, he’s held residencies at several San Francisco nightclubs, including The Endup, and has performed at venues around the Bay Area. Jaime has also DJ'd at various music festivals across the US, like LoveFest (SF), the WMC (Miami), Movement (Detroit), Burning Man (Black Rock City), as well as international events in France, Germany and Spain.

  • JKIND

J-KIND is an underground DJ/Producer currently residing in San Francisco, California. His diverse and eclectic style transcends many genres, and is currently focused on his burning passion for techno. Listening to a J-KIND mix is inevitably a deep journey through various moods, and listeners are guaranteed a thrilling exploration of various emotions set to relentless, stomping and often times, funky beats. Whether or not it's deep, introspective, jazzy, urgent or imperative, your neck is guaranteed to move to the beat once he works the dancefloor into a frenzy with the bottomless crate of jewels in his crate. J-KIND's style is a derivation of many influences coming from the 1990's era: Daniel Bell, Terry Francis, Richie Hawtin and Mark Farina being just a few of the many creative artists that helped shape his passion for electronic music. His career started with underground raves and parties all over the San Francisco Bay in 2001 and has taken him to Europe and beyond. He pioneered many underground parties in San Francisco, including a ground-breaking residency at Bad Habits, Temple, Bubble Lounge and Tanil, as well as guest appearances with Uniting Souls based in Seattle. He is a resident DJ with the Airpusher Collective Burning Man group, and also holds a residency at Wish Bar & Lounge. As he continues his quest for new sounds, you can be assured that whether or not he's spinning vinyl or using CDJs, you will notice what he calls "the beauty and power of DJ'ng - the ability to mix two tracks so creatively and uniquely, that a new song is created from the merger." His first EP, "Beautiful Life" was released in 2015 on Mioli Music and is available on Beatport, Spotify and iTunes. As his sound continues to resonate through the San Francisco Bay and beyond, be assured any party with J-KIND on the bill will be an event not to miss.

  • Jon Barnes

SF-based techno by way of London and NYC, and with one foot always in the Balearics. Airpusher Collective resident; FM radio host (Big Love Show). The Bermuda Triangle of techno...Jon Barnes has disrupted navigation in dark rooms with flashing lights throughout London, New York, Ibiza and San Francisco. Originally a jazz musician, Jon caught the dance music bug from the contagious sounds radiating from New York’s Twilo in the late 1990s. His musicianship and grasp of the genre keep his tastes constantly evolving, always forward thinking, and never losing sight of his roots: sun-drenched, late-morning walks home from West 27th Street, and Balearic afternoons spent shaking the sand out of his clothes from the afterhours. Today Jon calls San Francisco home and turns dials with the Airpusher Collective, a crew of SF-based DJs taking Burning Man by storm. From 2004-2014 he was resident and co-host of the Big Love Show on KZSU 90.1 FM, one of the longest-running house music radio shows in the US.

  • Papa Lu

Born and raised in the San Francisco, Bay Area, Ca. Papa Lu had the chance to absorb all styles of music from Hip Hop to house as an adolescent. His first passion was with Hip Hop. As soon as he graduated from High School he dove right into the business of throwing Hip Hop shows at a venue called The DNA Lounge. He worked with some of the most classic artists of the true school era like Digable Planets, Digital Underground, Gang Starr, Kool Keith, Dj QBert, Grand Wizord Theordore, and many more. During that time period several house music pioneers like Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Dj Sneak, Heather, Colette, etc were making their waves at that same venue and that’s where Papa Lu had learned to love house music. Becoming a house music aficionado Papa Lu had then decided to make the transition into producing quality house music events. He still to this day produces a party named Night Moves at Monarch SF and other events as well at a few of the other fine established clubs of San Francisco. He’s worked with artists such as Danny Daze, Jimmy Edgar, Dennis Ferrer, Poolside, Amine Edge & Dance, Doctor Dru, Walker & Royce, Lazaro Casanova, Claptone, Juan MacLean, Fur Coat, Crazy P, Noir, Moon Boots, John Tejada, J Boogie, Deejay Theory, Pacific Disco, etc. In the process of becoming deeply involved and passionate with finding new cutting edge artists to book Papa Lu cultivated himself as a quality dj opening and closing for the artists named above and is now a commonly known dj in SF's house scene. For Papa Lu, his career as an innovative house dj has recently started and is budding well. His production with Bryan Boogie (LifeSF/ 2nd Sunday) is in progress and is anticipated to gain solid traction.

  • Sven Väth

Through his recordings, epic-length DJ sets, dozens of commercial mix albums, and label operations, Sven Väth is one German trance and techno's most popular proponents. Originally the lead singer of a dance-pop group named OFF, Väth hit the big time in 1986 when OFF's "Electrica Salsa (Baba Baba)" became a number three pop hit in their native country. The band later disintegrated, leaving Väth free to pursue his interest in the hard trance underground of Frankfurt. An Accident in ParadiseVäth became a DJ of note for his marathon sets, which sometimes approached 24 hours, and his 1992 co-founding of Harthouse Records. His own releases on the label included those by Barbarella, Astral Pilot, and Metal Masters with the help of his partner, Ralf Hildenbeutel. Blessed with an agreement connecting Harthouse and its subsidiaries to the American major label Warner Bros., Väth released Accident in Paradise, again with contributions from Hildenbeutel, as his first solo album.
