  • CHRIS SCHWARZWÄLDER

As a producer, musician, DJ and serial collaborator, Chris Schwarzwälders distinctive style of deep, restrained house is hard to pin down, but you’ll always know it’s him when you hear it. Born in Frankfurt am Main in the 80s, he started playing hiphop in the 90s. While making beats on his MPC2000, he dropped into Offenbach’s Robert Johnson club and fell in love with techno. In 2009, Chris moved to Berlin and started DJing at KaterHolzig, where he found a group of people who thought about music in the same way he did. In contrast to the trends of the late 00s, the sounds being made from this little paradise on Berlin’s river Spree were slower, softer, and more soulful than a lot of what was being played in clubs at the time. It was here that Chris began to cement his reputation as both a solo producer and collaborator, who was capable of bringing his trademark sounds to a whole number of side-projects - many of which have gone on to play to crowds around the globe. He joined the Feathered Sun collective in 2013, together with a group of friends including Acid Pauli, Nu, Jo.Ke and Raz O’Hara. Dreamy, groovy and often improvised, the collective represented a special kind of musical freedom in which a group of producers came together to create something new in a singular, live moment. At the same time, Chris’ friend Mira was making moves of her own, and they started to play back-to-back sets, soundtracking the legendary Monday mornings of KaterHolzig, and now, Kater Blau. The two, who are both residents at Kater Blau, have now been playing together internationally for almost a decade, and have formed a common musical understanding that translates throughout every one of their sets - deep, clubby and melancholic. This partnership has also carried on into the studio, where they have collaborated on numerous hits. His most light-hearted side comes out in collaboration with Iannis Ritter, where the two musicians take on a weirder, more melodic & electro approach than Chris’ other proejcts. If you were to ask him, Chris would describe himself as reserved, logical, rational, melancholic and humorous. Which is why you’d never hear him telling you about the hundreds of nightclubs and festivals he’s played around the globe, or the number of hits he’s had with his productions. If you’re lucky though, Chris might tell you about his favourite synthesizers, and get lost in a conversation all about electronics and sound. Which is exactly where Chris wants to be - lost in electronics and sound. • Disclosure

A pop-oriented synthesis of numerous styles, including house, garage, dubstep, and bass, along with well-timed vocal collaborations, made Disclosure one of the most successful production teams of the 2010s. Although they broke through while the path to commercial success was shortening for acts classified as EDM (electronic dance music), the duo, consisting of English siblings Guy and Howard Lawrence, separated themselves with a deeper awareness of underground dance music dating back to the disco era. After debuting in 2010, the pair quickly accelerated to making lustrous, impeccably assembled pop songs, led by the global 2012 hit "Latch," featuring Sam Smith. ~ AllMusic

  • FRITZ KALKBRENNER

FRITZ KALKBRENNER,Biography,Fritz grew up in the Berlin district of Lichtenberg, which is full of projects, sadness and desolation. It’s the nineties – nothing to do but lots to fuck up. And for most of the people from that time and that corner of the world there is nothing more important than first of all: hanging around , killing time and second: music, music ,music.,Month by month Fritz spents all of his little pocket money on spray cans and dusty old Hip-Hop vinyls eg. Eric B. & Rakim, KRS-ONE and Wu-Tang Clan.,And for having a soft spot for those old Hip-Hop artists, his brother Paul and buddy Sascha Funke kept making fun of him.. over and over again! Because Paul and Sascha were already infected by the Techno Virus, and Fritz – the late bloomer in the crew – shall follow the lead some day.,From his brother Paul and Sascha’s point of view, ’97 was the time when they’ve decided to smuggle Fritz into the legendary Berlin club Suicide Circus. The result was that Fritz couldn’t let go from the Tech-House music.. not that he wanted to anyway! The time has come for Fritz to party it up in clubs like WMF, Discount, Tresor and Matrix. He’s having a good time while sucking in all of the new impressions. It wasn’t too long after that where Fritz started his own productions with left-over equipment from his brother Paul. But every life style and action has it’s price, and Fritz’s was failing his high school diploma and dropping out.,Having to choose at that point what his future in music might be, he decides to turn his second passion into a profession.,As a cultural and music journalist, he worked since 2002 for various TV stations such as ARD, MTV and the Deutsche Welle.,But the artist life keept haunting him and one year later he teams up with Sascha Funke to perform a track as a vocalist on Sascha’s debut album “Bravo”.,The first single from Sascha’s abum is the result and “Forms and Shapes” becomes one of the essential tracks that summer.,Fritz keeps building his reputation as a singer by collaborating with Zky, Alexander Kowalski and Monika Kruse. Besides that he was working on his own production skills, he was always looking for his very own sound. Then in autumn 2008 “Sky and Sand” is released, a musical family reunion with his brother Paul which raised the feeling from the first day on that this could be a big one. And it was. “Sky and Sand” didn’t just become an underground anthem, but also reached peak in many european chart positions.,It’s 2009 and the next chapter is ready to start. While Fritz is touring the clubs with his intense Liveact, Chopstick & johnjon could convince him (still unknown how they did it?!) to sign on to their label Suol, where he released two EP’s and numerous Collaborations so far. His full lenght Album „Here Today, Gone Tomorrow“ will be released on Suol in Oktober 2010.

Gerd Janson runs the Running Back label, and DJs around the world under the name Gerd Janson. Gerd Janson is running the German label Running Back together with Thorsten Scheu (aka Glance). As many kids who have grown up in the early 90s in the South West of Germany, Gerd Janson was a regular guest at Mannheim’s legendary Milk Club. Although this venue was most popular for putting jungle on the map in Germany, Gerd always used to wait eagerly for the early morning hours when the pace slowed down and US styled house was the ruling sound. In the following years, his deep love for house and disco music was fed in Frankfurt’s Wild Pitch Club by Heiko MSO and Ata. In 1998, Gerd Janson finally had his first DJ residency at Darmstadt’s Café Kesselhaus.

  • Mira

Mira is that rare kind of DJ whose music can immediately transport you into her world - a midnight circus in Berlin, where time loses all definition and anything becomes possible. Born in East Germany to a renowned photographer and a classical musician, she began DJing in 1996 and quickly became part of the growing underground techno scene around Leipzig and Halle/Saale. Her dedication to her craft and natural talent swiftly paid off with a series of rapid successes, leading her to substantially shape the electronic music scene of Eastern Germany from that point on. In 2006, Mira moved to Berlin, Europe’s capital of electronic music, where she found her musical home at the legendary Bar25. Situated on the banks of the river Spree with parties that lasted into the middle of the week, Bar25 was the embodiment of Berlin’s club scene in the 2000s. In the company of notable artists such as Nu, Acid Pauli, Feathered Sun and Christopher Schwarzwälder, a musical language was being formed that looked past the minimal trends of the time towards a more nuanced, organic musical language.

  • Sven Väth

Through his recordings, epic-length DJ sets, dozens of commercial mix albums, and label operations, Sven Väth is one German trance and techno's most popular proponents. Originally the lead singer of a dance-pop group named OFF, Väth hit the big time in 1986 when OFF's "Electrica Salsa (Baba Baba)" became a number three pop hit in their native country. The band later disintegrated, leaving Väth free to pursue his interest in the hard trance underground of Frankfurt. An Accident in ParadiseVäth became a DJ of note for his marathon sets, which sometimes approached 24 hours, and his 1992 co-founding of Harthouse Records. His own releases on the label included those by Barbarella, Astral Pilot, and Metal Masters with the help of his partner, Ralf Hildenbeutel. Blessed with an agreement connecting Harthouse and its subsidiaries to the American major label Warner Bros., Väth released Accident in Paradise, again with contributions from Hildenbeutel, as his first solo album.
