Acid Pauli aka Martin Gretschmann Over the last 20 years Martin Gretschmann has been exploring new fields of music off the mainstream paths: psychedelic, adventurous and full of musicality. Shortly thereafter, Martin Gretschmann became a part of The Notwist and and added a certain electronic twist to the band. With his solo project Acid Pauli he created several records, remixes and podcast in the last couple of years. Since 2011 Acid Pauli lives in Berlin, where he became a part of the collective The Feathered Sun. After his debut album "Mst“ released on Clown & Sunset in 2012 his second album BLD was released on his in-house record label Ouïe in early 2017. After getting to know each other in Zürich in 2008, Adrian Shala and Adrian Schweizer became inseparable, not just as friends, but also as artists. The two men carved out a career as one of the most consistently delivering DJ/producer duos in the house and techno scene: Adriatique. The key to an enduring partnership is, of course, to complement each other, and the two Adrians do so admirably. Music-wise, their various tastes combine into one unique sound, and their respective preference for studio work and performance means that both aspects are equally well covered. ̸BIOGRAPHY Dar Disku is an independent record label and dj collective founded in 2019 and based between London and Bahrain - championing the sounds of the Middle East, Asia and beyond. ​ ​ 'Dar-Disku' comes from the 1970s Egyptian pop culture magazine of the same name and directly translates into 'home of the disco'. Dar Disku is a label celebrating music from across Arabia. Founded by Mazen AlMaskati and Vish Matre in 2019; the label encompasses all things High NRG, New Beat, Strange and Pure. Growing up less than a mile apart in Bahrain with a shared fascination with discovering new music, the duo quickly bonded over digging for unheard rarities and burning mixtapes to show friends and strangers, and till today, this remains changed. Whether at a house party, over a traditional Bahraini meal or at a local underground gig, chats about left field music would always spiral from one artist to the next and back, but more and more, talks about music turned into talks about culture and soon enough; home. Mazen and Vish left Bahrain with pockets full of Radiohead, Aphex Twin, Daft Punk and Benga. But looking back across the water, the music their parents played on dusty turntables, the art and culture that surrounded them their entire lives became more than nostalgic, it became hypnotically fascinating. From learning about the microtonal arrangements in Farsi music to learning south Indian polyrhythms and the almost forgotten 1970s punk rock and psychedelia movements in Egypt, Lebanon and Iran, they couldn’t help but think, what comes next? Both have spent the last few years discovering incredible sub-genres such as Khaliji hiNRG, Rai, ArabiDisco, Habibi House, Sawt and Bollywood and within quick succession, Dar Disku has shared the stage with artists such as Four Tet, Habibi Funk, Nabihah Iqbal, Young Marco, Palms Trax and Esa and have played iconic venues and festivals across the world (recent stops include Mumbai, Istanbul, Paris, Bahrain, Lost Village Festival, Lovebox Festival, Glastonbury Festival & more). Glasgow-based DJ/producer Hector Barbour (aka Denis Sulta) creates vivacious, melodic house with underground sensibilities. Born in Glasgow in 1993, he grew up with a keen interest in dance music, landing his first job at the infamous record shop Rubadub. It was during his tenure there that he took up both music production and DJ'ing under the guidance of his co-workers, who were all very passionate about the scene. His early tracks were darker in tone, but as he started playing more and more gigs, his music became more uplifting. To reflect the change in style, he reversed the name Atlus to Sulta and adopted Denis as a prefix (originally spelled "Dennis," a printing error led him to drop an "n" in favor of Denis). From there he went on to release EPs, eventually setting up his own label and brand, Sulta Selects. Barbour took the brand on a global tour, which became so popular that it spawned a full festival, FLY Open Air: Sulta Selects, held at Hopetoun House just outside of Edinburgh. ~ AllMusic

dotdat is a Producer/DJ based out of Goa, India. His approach to music has always stemmed from his need to channel his restless energy into something productive. It is his way of making order of the world around him. With his own groovy style of techno infused with a heavy dose of Sci-Fi sound design, he has established himself as a pillar in the Indian techno scene. Having played at major festivals and clubs, he’s earned his stripes as one of India’s top artists. Even though he puts himself forth as a producer first and a DJ second, his mixing skills are not to be taken lightly. His mind- melting sets continue to be talked about and have had a long lasting effect on the dance floor. His reach has been far and wide with his releases making regular appearances in the sets of mainstays such as DVS1, Ben Sims, Truncate, DJ Stingray & many more. He’s also performed at festivals and venues such as ADE: Amsterdam, Womb: Tokyo, Sonar: Barcelona, Watergate: Berlin, Vh1 Supersonic: India. Dotdat’s dedication and persistence has led to international collaborations with Truncate and Benjamin Damage. His EP with Truncate ‘HYD’ still making waves on the dance floor. He has had a steady stream of releases which landed him on labels such as Ben Sims’s Symbolism, Truncate & BLACKAXON just to name a few. 嶋田会希 – Elle Shimada is a violinist, producer, curator, DJ and multi-instrumentalist from Tokyo based in Melbourne. Fluidly fusing Tokyo’s futuristic underground sound with influences from London and Detroit House, Shimada’s production and live sets are a kinetic succession of dance beats and abstract compositions. Shimada has independently collaborated with a myriad of artists in Melbourne and overseas, performing and recording with Clever Austin, Paul Bender (Hiatus Kaiyote), Jace XL, Allysha Joy and Dufresne – music that can be found on releases by Worldwide FM and Stamp The Wax. Kléo aka Clélia Zida is a French born Dj and visual artist based in Amsterdam. An intuitive force behind the decks, she selects from a vast record collection, bringing the dance floor together with seamless all-vinyl mixes.

Amsterdam based DJ and producer Luuk van Dijk (’96) is dominating the house scene through his productions and on stage with his contagious energy and radiant personality. Known for his strong basslines and groovy vibe with a clear old skool vision, Luuk’s sound remains instantly recognizable. Van Dijk has performed at a range of local and international clubs and festivals, including Paradise, Awakenings, elrow, DGTL and Cocoon, playing alongside artists such as Jamie Jones, The Martinez Brothers, Sven Väth, Joseph Capriati, Patrick Topping and Kerri Chandler, to name a few. His productions have been picked up by massive labels such as Hot Creations, Eastenderz and Solid Grooves. DJ and producer Marcel Dettmann is recognised as one of the most influential proponents of contemporary techno. Widely associated with iconic trademarks including Berlin, Berghain and Hard Wax, Dettmann stays true to his roots by consistently innovating his interpretation of electronic music, integrating art with the scene. Raised in the former GDR, in a small town near Berlin, Dettmann had already begun to develop his passion for electronic music in his youth. Bands like Depeche Mode, The Cure and Front 242, as well as post-punk and industrial, count as his earliest influences, long before he discovered his affinity for techno. His hometown lacked a record store specialising in electronic music, so between 1995 and 1998 Dettmann began selling vinyl from his own home. He purchased records from various distributers, Hard Wax amongst others, both to resell to his friends and to cement the foundation for his own considerable collection. Like many of his friends, the mid-nineties saw Dettmann frequenting Berlin’s nightlife. This included club institutions E-Werk and Tresor where the resident DJs of that time aroused his passion for the Chicago and Detroit influenced sound. In 1999, after many (including self-organised) parties, his turning point came; Dettmann began to work as a resident DJ at Ostgut, Berghain’s predecessor. Shortly thereafter upon receiving a job offer from Hard Wax, he finally moved to Berlin. His apprenticeship as a vinyl buyer and seller as well as DJ, granted him an extensive depth of musical knowledge and intuition. Dettmann quests tirelessly for new ways and inspiration to further develop his own concept of electronic music. His label MDR (Marcel Dettmann Records) serves as a platform upon which to shape his musical vision, and through its releases, to launch new talent onto the techno scene. As a curator and producer, Dettmann fosters the call to create in a way which is equally timeless and innovative. His own releases comprise two albums on Ostgut Ton, numerous singles and remixes for artists of various genres – Junior Boys, Fever Ray, Moderat, Commix, Clark and Laibach to name a few. Furthermore, he has produced compilation albums for London’s fabric club, Berlin’s Berghain, the Belgian techno label Music Man and one issue of the DJ Kicks compilation series on !K7 imprint. Outside of the club context, Marcel Dettmann has established himself as a multi-faceted artist. He designed the sound concept for „New Works“, an exhibition of photographer Frederike von Rauch, contributed to the contemporary dance project „Masse“ – together with Frank Wiedemann and choreographer Nadja Saidakowa in cooperation with Berghain and the Berlin State Ballet. His single “Seduction feat. Emika” provided the soundtrack to director and screenwriter Parker Ellerman’s short film of the same name. As a passionate DJ and one of the faces of Berghain, Dettmann seeks to inspire his listeners with sounds both reduced and rough, balanced by emotional and surprising moments throughout his sets. Between pure techno, banging Chicago, tracks old and new of the past twenty-five years, Marcel Dettmann communicates his message with an apparent effortlessness.

With a sound born in New York and refined in Berlin, Margaret Dygas is an artist whose sound possesses a true international resonance. Her productions and dj-sets incorporate the deep and dub-influenced sound she loves, whilst retaining the driving funk of her musical past.

Meetsysteem is a project by the 27-year-old Ricky Cherim, born and raised in Amsterdam. Having spent most of his youth in the basement of his parents making music - he finally found his voice through tech house, beat scene and rap, and in the Dutch pop song.

Behind her djing however, Mixtress is a strong advocate for equitable change and political action within music, with her prior work at Sisu crew and work with promoters to keep the music scene fair, accessible and equal. She’s an avid whosampled contributor, jazz record collector and an all around amen break enthusiast.

As much as I wouldn't like to discard one's childhood influences to forming one's artistic make up (that is not Nico's case anyway, hehe) I would still prefer to focus on other aspects which are equally, if not more important when talking about this specific artist. What that artist name (and real name) entails is a very deep trip into an extremely creative mind, a very interesting one. The main and very special aspect of what makes Nicolas Lutz him artistically is the ethos in how he stands by his music, his vision. Nicolas' medium of choice is vinyl and the cultural tradition it brings with it. In such a digital age the tendency from the general public to think that Djs that only use vinyl are ‘dinosaurs’or ‘behind’ or ‘limited’ is apparent and the beauty about Nicolas is that he proves them wrong leaving them wondering what has hit them on a dance floor. Here is where the most special thing that makes up...

Nina Kraviz is one of techno’s most iconic DJs. Famous for both her dynamic and varied DJ sets, captivating performances and her acclaimed label трип (Trip), she’s been a techno powerhouse since she launched on the scene in 2009. In 2020, she played a series of live stream events and virtual festivals including an empty Dance Arena at EXIT and even on top of Mount Olympus in Greece. She also collaborated with streaming giants Spotify when she was chosen to be part of their trackID series, providing a regularly updated playlist to the platform that includes tracks from her own label as well as a diverse collection of releases from across multiple genres. That genre-hopping is also evident in her sets, where trance, techno, ambient and hardstyle can all be heard in one swoop, with her inimitable presence in the booth adding to the allure of Kraviz’s sets. As the DJ who played the most sets of any other in 2018, we’re sure she’ll be the first to hit the road again once it’s safe to do so. ~ DJMag

Dutch producer-duo Polynation stormed the scene in 2015 with their lustrous debut EP Allogamy. Adopting both rhythmic tension and a wide range of acoustic and electronic tools, Stijn Hosman and Hessel Stuut gradually translated their intricate studio finesse to the more improvisational, spontaneous dynamic of live performance. Los Angeles-based Egyptian Lover aka Greg Broussard was one of the early pioneers of the hip-hop/electro fusion-movement and made history with the singles Egypt Egypt (1984) and Freak-A-Holic (1986). Started to make mixtapes as a teenager with tracks he recorded off the radio, Broussard soon took his music to the streets of LA as a member of Uncle Jamm's Army. A producer who boasts an impressively prolific streak, Toman started his musical journey at an early age. Growing up in a household listening to his mother’s classical trained voice along with records and spool tapes brough home by his father, Unnayanaa found sanctum and inspiration through music. His ability to translate abstract ideas into a relatable format for a cross section of listeners and his unconventional approach to morphing sounds into one another has helped him create a signature style of DJing and producing music. He is currently working on music that he recorded during his travels through Ethiopia and Congo. The last couple of years has seen him play memorable sets at festivals in the subcontinent right from Magnetic Fields to Echoes of Earth, as well as the iconic Boiler Room - Bangalore appearance in 2022. Virginie, is a Dj and vinyl collector with a refined taste for the old and new beats. Her passion for music emerged during the 90s, moving from Caracas to New York, where she spent her time exploring in depth the musical culture of the city. In the past two years, she has catched the attention of the most important music festivals in Barcelona, playing at Primavera Sound and DGTL in 2019 and at Sonar this 2020. Virginie is also responsible for the artist bookings at C/C, a local community radio where she's showcases the finest of Barcelona's Djs.
