about
Just visualise a metropolis blanketed in austere ruin, coloured by an ominous soundtrack with a heart of iron and stone.

Such is the harsh dimension introduced by Muto Masashi, a name that’s bobbed along the surface of the Singaporean electronic scene for some time now. After years of cutting his teeth in the local DJ circuit, the Japanese selector has finally released Ishi, his debut EP that translates his imagination and influences into these dystopian musical fantasies.

  • Toppings

Co-Founder & Resident DJ at Ice Cream Sundays Hailing from Manila, Toppings (Jake Camacho) is best known for his work as co-founder, resident DJ, and core team member of Singapore-based party collective, Ice Cream Sundays. A lifelong student of music history, his exposure to diverse musical styles and traditions shines through in his eclectic approach to DJing. Rooted in deep, soulful, and psychedelic house infused with jazz, disco, funk, balearic, and afrobeat, each of his sets delivers a tasty blend of percussive grooves, playful experimentation, and—at times—pure, uncut optimism. Equally at home in a beachside booth, an intimate dark room, or playing to large, sweaty crowds, he has plied his trade at clubs and music-focused venues all over the city, including Headquarters, TUFF CLUB, CÉ LA VI, Kilo, Offtrack, Tanjong Beach Club, and Potato Head, to name a few. He has built a reputation for tasteful and versatile selection along the way, so it's no surprise he has been called on to support high-caliber acts like AlunaGeorge, Henrik Schwarz, Chaos In The CBD, Soul Clap, Jasper James, Tornado Wallace, Dekmantel Soundsystem, Floyd Lavine, Lowheads, and Bosq. He has also been invited to play at some of Singapore's largest events, representing the Ice Cream Sundays crew at the F1 Singapore Grand Prix, Neon Lights Festival, Garden Beats Festival, and IMI Festival. As a DJ/promoter, Toppings co-founded Ice Cream Sundays in 2016. Over the years, the collective has become a fixture in the local nightlife circuit, throwing some of Singapore's most memorable and sought after pop-up parties. They have sold out shows wherever they spring up—whether it's a 1920s theme park, a green enclave, or a stark industrial space—while collaborating with likeminded local and regional powerhouses such as Darker Than Wax, Shi Fu Miz, and Rainbow Disco Club. And behind the decks at each of their events, you'll find the cheeky selector himself.

  • Daryl Knows

Daryl Knows is a bridger of genres – from amorous soul cuts and spry jittery electro, to frisky disco rarities and his uplifting house jaunts. It’s this versatility that’s made the veteran a figure in some of Singapore’s biggest festivals. Daryl’s gig portfolio in the local bar and club circuit is compatibly expansive, filled by his duties as a longstanding stalwart resident of Headquarters, Offtrack, and Singaporean international record label, Darker Than Wax. A key member since 2016, Daryl’s been instrumental in orchestrating some of the scene’s most beloved events on behalf of Darker Than Wax, including the renowned courtyard bash, BREW, alongside the region-drawing Haw Par Thrilla spectacle with +65 promoters, Ice Cream Sundays. As a deeply embedded advocate of electronic music within the community, Daryl has also participated in historical gigs that made national headlines, spanning the pandemic-combatting #SaveMusicSG campaign and The Last Mile which bid farewell to cultural and architectural icon, Golden Mile Complex. The seasoned tastemaker’s milestones and prospects, meanwhile, stretch beyond the Lion City. Daryl’s performance accolades have seen him support the international likes of Peggy Guo, DJ Boring, Jackmaster, Demuja, Lars Vegas (Dam Swindle), Dan Shake, Frits Wentink, Young Marco, Kornel Kovacs, Luca Lozano, Christopher Rau, Hidden Spheres and Max Graef to name a few. His career wholly embraces his love of sharing sounds to audiences from all walks of life, and this has been apparent in his international appearances in London, Tokyo, Melbourne, Ho Chi Minh, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Bali where he even played for Bestival. Daryl Knows is a true Singaporean soul with global appeal, and it shows every time he hits the decks.

  • DEEN

DEEN may be a familiar face to many, starting first as a punter on the dance floor, before finding his way behind the decks to soundtrack many a hazy night at Headquarters and other events. A regular mainstay on the club’s programming, it was right in the cage at 66 Boat Quay where DEEN developed his brooding style of techno that is darkly affecting and strangely light all at once. It wasn’t long before DEEN was sharing the stage with some of dance music’s brightest stars of the moment, including the likes of Charlotte de Witte, Reka, and Fjaak to name just a few. If you’ve shared a night with the man himself, you’ll see how he can work the crowd into a hypnotic stomp with his sombre tones and introspective melodies, often taking the audience through a dizzying barrage of peaks and troughs, of tension and relief.

  • HAAN A.

Introducing Haan – the techno underdog of Singapore. With almost a decade’s worth of experience behind the console, it was his passion for vinyl records that kick started the self-taught DJ’s career. Since then, Haan has developed a unique style of house and techno music that’s brimming with groove, taking him across the deepest and darkest corners of the island’s clubbing circuit. Describing his sound as dark yet melodic, Haan quotes the likes of TIN MAN, Redshape, Locked groove and Broken English Club as his musical inspiration. Staying true to his style—one that transcends genres—he brings it in a big way to the most discerning of dance floors. Recent years saw Haan on an upward trajectory, steadily paving his way to become a household name in the local nightlife scene. Haan caught the attention of TropicLab and was invited to join the collective shortly after. He was also on the bill for Super 0’s Openair Festival and things quickly escalated thereafter. Haan markedly grew into his own; he created and ran his own nights - #ashtag at Kilo and LeftBank at Cato – to showcase emerging talents as well as veterans who hadn’t been behind the decks for some time. He is also a Promoter/DJ for local label Midnight Shift and has played alongside deck legends such as Berghain’s resident Answer Code Request, Kink, Deetron, Xhin, Oxia, Spencer Parker, Oliver Deutschmann, Surgeon on top of a list of talented DJs and producers from around the globe. With all that had been accomplished thus far, there is no doubt that Haan looks set to stay in the circuit and fly the Singapore flag high across shores.

  • Amber H

Amber’s origin story starts in Karachi Pakistan, before moving to the USA – then relocating to Singapore in 2011. Back in 2002 when she lived in Washington DC, Amber's passion grew deeper for electronic music listening to the sounds of Deep Dish during their residency at Club Nation. She traveled weekends to NYC, just to catch the dynamic duo, Danny Tenaglia and Danny Howells at clubs like Vinyl. And that was the start of her love affair with vinyl and DJing. Amber has been hitting the decks ever since 2002, and is keen to explore new grounds, at home, and around the world, with fresh cutting-edge electronic music that is sure to get the vibes right and the crowd ready! She spends her time exploring traditional as well as digital mediums – such as Ableton Live, external effects, and drum machines. Incorporating live elements here possible, Amber still keeps it techy with chugging bass lines and hypnotic Grooves. She has supported artists like &Me, Lalou, Rey & Kjavik, Nakadia, Stimming, and Ame. She has also played at the Afrikaburn in South Africa, the Quest Festival in Vietnam, and has traveled and played in other countries around Southeast Asia. Her mix was also featured on Frisky Radio's show labeled "Frisky Loves Singapore"

  • Blue Hour

Blue Hour — a time of day similar to dawn, dusk and the three stages of twilight. It doesn't have one definition, and its colour is neutral, not blue. Like Luke Standing's alias 'Blue Hour' suggests, his sound doesn't slip into any one category. The Berlin-based producer, DJ and head of the ‘Blue Hour Music' record label blurs the lines between Acid Techno, old school Rave, Breakbeat, Jungle and Leftfield to create a mirage of hazy euphoria and explore a narrative of timeless music unbound by geography and scene. Hailing from the UK, Luke discovered dance music in Brighton and London where, as a teenager, the ferocious notes of DnB and Jungle drew him towards raves operating in each city. Quintessential artists and labels of time started the foundations of Luke's vinyl collection before reaching wider with UK Bass, Techno, Trance and IDM slipping into his record bag. With a natural progression to the soundscape of Techno, Luke relocated to Berlin in 2011 and soon after launched the resolutely independent project 'Blue Hour' and the label of the same name. Several years into the project, Luke has released pivotal records with a distinctive sound driven by the spirit and energy of the '90s, and in turn, welcomed into some of the most prolific spaces worldwide including Berghain, Shelter, fabric, KHIDI and Robert Johnson. Luke's creative output continues to develop and expand with solo, collaborative projects, compilation contributions, and commissioned remixes, connecting him to the ever-changing landscape of Techno and its sprawling sub-genres. It's safe to say that the sound of ‘Blue Hour’ and his respective labels are weaved into the expansive realm of the electronic music community but Luke strikes an unparalleled chord within it.

Manfredas. The name packs a hefty punch. After years spent amassing knowledge as a radio DJ, he took his talents to the club, where he’s been convincing the unconvinced ever since. This man has a serious gift for throwing his every physical move hammering home the strength of his musical convictions. From the unique way he palms the jog wheel, to the ardent torque of his dancing, music feels a little more impactful in his midst. As one of the key residents and programmers at Opium Club in Vilnius, where he runs his club night "Smala", Manfredas has been instrumental in creating a culture that has led some mega-respected DJs to call it their favourite club in the world. Space feels like a feedback loop of love, dramatic intensity, and open-minded passion that draws everyone deeper into the music. Fact: the best DJs are always residents. • Kangding Ray

There are few musicians who manage to explore the convergence between techno and experimental as successfully as David Letellier. Kangding Ray’s complex sound aesthetic tests boundaries, evolving tirelessly in its exploration of texture, rhythm, and sound design. KR has remixed artists such as Martin Gore and Ben Frost on Mute, Battles on Warp, Oscar Mulero on Polegroup or Inigo Kennedy on Token. Letellier’s foundations in rock and musique concrete give his music a vitality and uniqueness that has won fans the world over, from discerning avant-garde–electronica listeners, all the way to devoted clubbers. Those who have been following Letellier since his debut album, 2006’s Stabil, will recognize not only his meticulous and constantly developing approach to sound design, but also the conceptual gravity behind his releases. Through a string of recent EP’s and albums, culminating with the critically acclaimed “Solens Arc”, KR showed his ability to keep his artistic approach while delivering direct and powerful club-leaning tracks and darkly cinematic soundscapes. On 2015’s “Cory Arcane”, he pushed the limits of his sound even further. Relinquishing standard rhythmic structures and conventional tonal models, he delivered what is perhaps his most sophisticated release yet; a raw and visceral universe, allowing a more fluid dialogue between soul and machines. 2017’s “HYPER OPAL MANTIS” released on Stroboscopic Artefacts heralds a new era for Kangding Ray, where he explores the tension between the natural and artificial, the body and mind, which are central themes in electronic music in general, and Techno in particular. The means of creation, focused around technology and interactions with machines, contrast with the emotional response to sound, the mystical ritual of collective dancing, and the ethos of liberation and tolerance embedded in the culture it has produced. As he describes it himself in a recent interview : “I’ve been evolving since a couple of years at the outer fringes of the club culture, where it overlaps with different experimental and avant-garde genres. While i intend to continue to explore that zone as a free maverick, i also wanted to give something back to the scene, something strong, beautiful and functional at the same time, while retaining enough personality to be exciting.” ( Adapted from words by Vincent Morris)

  • Reka

Well known for her DJ sets and productions oscillating between dystopian aesthetics and illuminating energy, REKA has cultivated a very personal approach to heady electronic music. Demonstrating selections from contemporary techno to the genre's prototypical past of electro and wave, her sets are a highly sensitive affair; manoeuvring seamlessly through dance music's multitude of permutations, blending together into a carefully narrated story that ebbs and flows with her artistic vision and prowess. Currently based in Berlin, REKA has constantly toured worldwide from Berghain, KHIDI in Tbilisi, and De School in Amsterdam to Movement in Detroit and Vurt in Seoul amongst many other clubs and festivals. Previously, she also held a 5 year residency at Tresor. Most recently, she released her debut record Diving The Innermost on BITE on 2018, following with another EP in collaboration with Imperial Black Unit released on FLEISCH. Besides her duties as a producer and DJ, REKA took on the role as a curator, whether organising her own night W.A.V.E.S. or other events around Berlin and throughout Europe. REKA ́s rich experience and broad musical range have rendered her remarkably diverse. Starting to collect records at the age of 10 in Spain, she became equally infatuated with science, and it was not until she finished her degree in Genetics that she decided to pursue her artistic path full-time. Merely one year into her DJ career, REKA was discovered by DJ Hell and joined International Deejay Gigolos as part of the female duo leChic, releasing the critically acclaimed CD-mix “leMix” in 2008. Three years later, REKA was selected to participate in Toronto edition of Red Bull Music Academy. She eventually felt the desire to start her solo path which is considerably darker and gravitating towards more experimental realms which she still pursues to this day.

  • Sivanesh

It’s hard to pin Sivanesh’s style down. Crafting and developing his own brand of sultry off-kilter house and groovy heads-down techno through his long-standing residency at CÉ LA VI Singapore, his sound goes above and beyond current genres and trends. At its 5th year now, the residency sees him taking charge of the world-renowned main room, playing extended DJ-sets every Sunday night. Apart from this residency, Sivanesh is a regular fixture at some of the region’s most respected venues, with regular dates at The Headquarters and Kilo Lounge in Singapore. Co-founder of Sivilian Affairs and music director for Potato Head and Kilo in Singapore, Sivanesh also holds a monthly residency on AAJA Radio in London every third Monday of the month. Sivanesh’s sound goes beyond current trends in genres. Held together by equal amounts of rhythm & groove, his diverse playlists have led him to play alongside cult favourites such as Chaos In The CBD (In Dust We Trust), d’Julz (Bass Culture), Gerd Janson (Running Back), John Talabot (Hivern Discs), Kornél Kovács (Studio Barnhus), Okain (Talman Records), and Rampa (Keinemusik). Regional attention started after a well-received opening set at Cercle’s debut Asia show in 2019 with The Martinez Brothers. Since then, he has gone on to play at festivals and dance institutions across the region such as Airhouse (South Korea), Iron Fairies (Kuala Lumpur), Potato Head (Bali), Savage (Hanoi), Villa Project (Saigon), and Weekend Voyage (Phu Quoc). Powered by the belief that Asia is the place to be right now for dance music, Sivanesh co-founded the bookings and events agency Sivilian Affairs, which emphasises local and regional talents. In line with his goals of strengthening the Asian dance scene and building a healthy ecosystem through Sivilian Affairs, recent bookings for their parties include Baldo (Subwax) from Barcelona, Dr Yez (Tantra) from Bali, Jesse You (Walls & Pals) from Seoul, Jonnyvicious (Shagrilla) from Kuala Lumpur, Manikk (Savage) from Hanoi, Roshan (SaturdaySelects) from Kuala Lumpur, and Dexter Colt, Leland, Mako, Ramesh K, and The Weatherman from Singapore. Citing seminal American house music duo Mood II Swing as an early musical influence, Sivanesh's diverse playlists are held together by equal amounts of groove and soul. His roots will always be house, but being open-minded and anchored in the belief that only quality matters and genres do not, he is always aware of what the room he is playing for needs. That may be his best trait. It is this versatility that enables him to share the stage with some of the finest selectors in the world, such as Chloe (Bpitch), Chaos In The CBD (In Dust We Trust), d’Julz (Bass Culture), Jasper James (Optimo Trax), Rampa (Keinemusik), and more, in the last few months. More recently, he was selected by Cercle to warm up for their debut Asia show with The Martinez Brothers in November 2019, and then ended the year with a well-received DJ set at the Rainforest Pavilion at the Wonderfruit festival in Thailand. He might surprise you with a track from an unexpected corner, but that's exactly what he intends to do.

  • Soft Crash

Soft Crash is the collaborative project of Pablo Bozzi & Phase Fatale Soft Crash is the new music collaboration formed by Hayden Payne, aka Berghain resident Phase Fatale and Pablo Bozzi of Imperial Black Unit. Combining references such as William S. Burroughs and J.G. Ballard respectively, the project also functions to explore the fetishization of technology and the body and how the line between those is perpetually blurring. Increasingly, humans are reshaped and controlled by modern technology to an abysmal state; meanwhile, this technologically-made music can reinsert some emotion to try to bring back out a romantic sensibility and connection. Bozzi and Payne, both based in Berlin, have been at the top of the industrial techno and ebm circuit through the last several years and have shared the stage on numerous occasions in their respective projects. As well, Bozzi released his debut solo EP on Phase Fatale’s label BITE earlier this year. But their mutual love for music outside of that sphere is what brought them together to form this alliance. Attempting to throw off the dark and authoritative stereotypes of the current music scene they helped foster, Payne and Bozzi look to their core influences of synthwave, disco, and early techno to carve a new path as italo body music pioneers.
