Alex Pastor is a devotee and passionate selector of underground jams. Forming and developing his DJ career in both LA and Central America, he has absorbed the sound and culture of both regions to forge his rhythmic approach. Her Club Aerobics Radio show on NTS and her guest mixes for Diplo & Friends, Beats1, and Rinse France have showcased Bianca’s talents behind the decks. Her debut single “Bumbum Pra Cá” continues this fusion of genres, drawing from baile funk and classic grime. She’s since made her debuts on Boiler Room and at festivals like Secretsundaze, Dekmantel, and ADE, where she opened for De School’s 62-hour party. Being asked to describe his own music, Christian Löffler states that he tries to combine melancholy with euphoria. „All my music is connected by a gloomy spirit, which is minted by a warm sincerity. I try to merge all kinds of different acoustic colors to obtain this feeling in my music.” Löffler started to play music by the age of 14. Living in a secluded region, lacking a musical surrounding, he had to teach himself the essentials of making electronic music. Before long he developed his own deep and moving sound, colored with a melancholic undertone- Music for the soul & for the body. He recalls a variety of music styles he listened to as a child and teenager that were highly influential to his own development as a musician. Due to the fact that Löffler is also working as a visual artist, he’s following the same approach when making music that he’s following when painting or taking photos. ̸BIOGRAPHY Detroit | Mixmode | Sushitech Of the original crop of Detroit DJs, Delano Smith is one of the few still dedicated to the craft. Reflecting on house and techno without his influence would reveal a very different musical landscape today. Coming up when the world was just discovering the impact a DJ could have, Delano traversed his way to the top in a tough scene full of talent. Although dance music post The Belleville Three and Underground Resistance is well documented, the context that set the tone for them to emerge is less so. At a time described as the Wild West by some, when party culture was taking its first tentative steps, Delano honed his skills under the the guidance of the late, great Ken Collier. With initial sets fusing soul, disco and early electronic sounds, Delano planted seeds in the minds of Detroit’s subsequent generations. Those dancing to his sets in the late 70s and early 80s would later become ambassadors of a scene with worldwide appeal. Now, Delano stands shoulder to shoulder with the figureheads he once educated, writing a brand new chapter for house and techno. Delano’s story is long and intriguing, first taking to the decks in friends’ basements, these weekend sessions turned into the dance hall parties that paved the way for Delano’s residencies at clubs across Detroit. Championing permutations of the post-Disco era, a sound described by the D’s luminaries as “progressive” before house and techno were officially coined, Delano began to receive bookings beyond his home state, eventually touring what would become a familiar axis between the US and Europe. Following a period out of the game, Delano returned with a new focus, forming the DJ collective BeatDownSounds with long-time peers Norm Talley and Mike "Agent X" Clark. The trio offered a unique, slowed down and raw take on house, a sound picked up by London/Tokyo label, Third Ear Records, and presented on the double-length compilation ‘Detroit BeatDown Vol.1’, the success of which enabled Delano and his partners to represent the Motor City on an international level. Comparatively late to production, Delano started releasing his own music in earnest from 2002 onwards, finding homes on esteemed underground labels and of course on his own Mixmode imprint. In 2009 Delano formed a pivotal relationship with the Berlin based Sushitech Records, following a chance meeting with label head Yossi Amoyal, the setting Panorama Bar, a club that would later help define Delano’s musical direction. After a string of successful Sushitech EPs, Delano dropped ‘Odyssey’ onto the scene’s collective consciousness, an album spawning enduring dancefloor favourites. Two years later his sophomore long player arrived, loaded with dark and dubby material ‘Twilight’ was a curve ball to follow the hysteria that greeted his debut. 2017 saw Delano add yet another Sushitech LP to his discography, entitled ‘Detroit Lost Tapes’ it offered archived material, dug out and recontextualised with a worldwide tour following in support.

As the next curator of DJ-Kicks, Elkka is voyaging through rave euphoria. “This is a really special moment for me because DJ-Kicks has been a formative part of my musical education,” she says. An intoxicating journey through Chicago house and disco, leftfield techno, UK bass and electro-punk, Elkka conjures up an atmosphere that is as primed for the club as it is the listener’s interior world. Elkka’s spellbinding DJ-Kicks mix starts with a simple whispered phrase: “Attention, lovers.” As ethereal synths gently undulate out of view, the life-affirming stomp of Shade’s 1978 disco classic Music Is the Only Way (I Can Communicate) comes into sharp focus. “I use track titles to communicate feelings. Often, I can’t verbally express how I feel, but through music, I can,” Elkka smiles. Specially-commissioned originals from artists Elkka admires inject a revitalising power into the mix. Pioneering experimental producer Herbert’s Keep Time (Nobody) is a percussive sound collage helmed by a supernatural, pitch-shifted pop vocal. “The vocals in it sound like Britney or Timbaland, who I obsessed over growing up. To have Herbert involved is like all my worlds in the naughties colliding at once.” London producer Breaka’s Like Water to a Fish deploys d’n’b breaks over a syncopated synthline, whereas Villager’s Monocyclical invokes the bursting energy of its title, acid 303 bass swirling bouncing around a driving 4/4 beat. Elkka’s own exclusive DJ-Kicks contributions further this magpie-like approach, and uncannily ring out like sister tracks. Hands’ lead synth melody and rolling hi-hat is gloriously uplifting, summoning the euphoric physicality of its title. Body is darker, heads-down cut, its chuggy percussion eliciting movement that can only be found in the dance. “You need both sides to everything. I wanted to write music that moves you and instantly evokes feeling. I’ve never connected with music that feels sonically ‘cold’ to me. That's not to say that warmth is always joyful, either – warmth can be anything that pulls you in, making you feel a connection.” 
This sense of intimacy permeates Elkka’s DJ-Kicks mix. “You have to just trust your own feelings. That’s exactly how I do everything – making sure that my music has my DNA in it and I feel connected to it,” she asserts. This EP sees her collaborating with System Records by Julien Bracht. Having mastered some of the most innovative releases of this decade for Amnesia Scanner and Arca this EP is without a doubt the beginning of something that pushes the boundary of music beyond the current scope. A well traveled person from having lived in Japan, Korea and the USA as a teenager Enyang emigrated to Berlin in her twenties to tap into a new scene and sound unique to the city. Since then she has been intimately involved in the experimental music scene having performed at CTM festival in January of 2021. Serendipity found Enyang in Berlin and it was this city that transformed her passion for music and took her on a new path, one which would expose her to some of the most cutting edge artists of the world. Having worked intimately with the releases of some of the most experimental artists of our time, Enyang’s own musical sensibility and need for experimentation aligns closely with the roster of her impressive clientele. Driven by a need to express the inherent beauty within the unusual, different or other she uses recordings of her own body’s movements and functions to create a unique sound palette. These recordings become the musical apparatus Enyang uses to compose her tracks. Through the digitisation of her body she is able to transform the sound of her pelvis into a baseline, quite literally making the core of her physical body the foundation of her musical form. In the same way the snapping of an ear become high hats, or an elbow becomes a textured sound hidden in the composition of the track. By metabolising the sounds of her body she is able to build these tracks organically, even through the use of modular synthesizers there remains an intimacy to the EP.

For those that have witnessed Evigt Mörker live or as DJ, a different side to his recorded output comes into play. Chilean born, now Berlin based producer, DJ and label owner of Melisma Series, Melisma Limited, Cure Music and Melcure Chile’s profound impact on electronic music is unquestionable. From Ricardo Villalobos to Luciano, the country has punched above its weight when it comes to discerning electronica. Another artist who firmly belongs among such esteemed company is Felipe Valenzuela. Now based in Berlin, Valenzuela is more than a DJ/producer - he’s a qualified sound engineer and a label owner of considerable repute. Prolific, technical and a performer boasting a magical and unique sound, Valenzuela’s musical nous and ability to read a crowd (bolstered by an impeccable collection of hard-to-spot records) has led him to some of the globe’s foremost nightspots. From Amnesia in Ibiza to Frankfurt’s Robert Johnson to Paris’ Concrete, he’s left his mark on some of the world’s most famous ‘floors. Throw in the fact that he’s also held residencies at Club der Visionaire and Hoppetosse in his adopted city of Berlin, and it’s clear that Valenzuela is a special type of DJ. From a label perspective, it’s Valenzuela’s relationship with Dani Casarano for which he is best known. Franco Cinelli was born in Rosario, Argentina in 1978. He's one of the most well known techno DJ/Producer in Argentina. Being just 14 years old, he started his djing career. Interested in drums, he started to research about creation and development of music thru computers and samplers. In 1995, inspired by the sounds of Detroit, he made his very first tracks. As the years were going thru, Cinelli was gaining experience, and became a key player in the argentine scene. Gerd Janson runs the Running Back label, and DJs around the world under the name Gerd Janson. Gerd Janson is running the German label Running Back together with Thorsten Scheu (aka Glance). As many kids who have grown up in the early 90s in the South West of Germany, Gerd Janson was a regular guest at Mannheim’s legendary Milk Club. Although this venue was most popular for putting jungle on the map in Germany, Gerd always used to wait eagerly for the early morning hours when the pace slowed down and US styled house was the ruling sound. In the following years, his deep love for house and disco music was fed in Frankfurt’s Wild Pitch Club by Heiko MSO and Ata. In 1998, Gerd Janson finally had his first DJ residency at Darmstadt’s Café Kesselhaus.

After relocating to Philadelphia in 2016, John wasted no time working dancefloors across the city for underground local crews. After 2 years in the Philadelphia circuit, John teamed up with his partner and one of his closest friends, Keen in December 2017 to launch the now accredited warehouse party series- Subsurface, to channel their vision into their own experience to share with others in Philadelphia. Since then they have wasted no time reshaping the mold of underground parties in Philadelphia hosting artists such as Anthony Parasole, Omar S, John Dimas, Steve O’Sullivan, and more recently Hamish & Toby, Brawther, Analog Soul, Christian AB and more with no signs of slowing down. In August of 2020, during the pandemic John had been digging for records at such a frequent rate, and being out of gigs with little income- he spawned Impressions Philadelphia, an online/ pop-up record store, filling a void for dance music record shopping in Philly. How many, after moving to New York by way of San Francisco in the early ’00s, can say that they helped to rejuvenate the city’s then-stale nightlife via her residency at one of the best parties ever held in a hole-in-the-wall gay bar, the Mad Clams affair? How many have tasted stardom as one of the original members of the scene-making dance-music collective Hercules and Love Affair? Exactly one, and it’s Kim Ann. Jack Jutson and Liam Butler are house duo Pender Street Steppers, one of the primary acts associated with Vancouver's celebrated Mood Hut collective. The Steppers' first release was 2013's Life in the Zone, a 90-minute mixtape of original productions. Beyond her work as a music creator, Powder’s DJing backs up her production style with many influences. Renowned as an adept producer too, Rob has travelled the world, spinning records at a long list of highly respected, influential clubs with residencies at El Row and Paradise (DC10) plus a slew of international gigs. In recent times he has invested his time and energy into setting up several new projects outside of his solo work, allowing him to explore his eclectic tastes further. As these projects begin to come fruition Rob is preparing for a new phase of his career, and he couldn’t be more excited… That first season on the White Island led to two more consecutive summers, during which time Rob made the connections that formed the foundation of his success. In 2016 he took to the airwaves for the first time, landing a weekly show with Ibiza Sonica. During a summer of scintillating broadcasts he had a cast of star guests including The Martinez Brothers, Cassy, Stacey Pullen, Ryan Elliot, Craig Richards, Claude VonStroke and many more. Alongside his DJing, Rob has had a consistent flow of well-received EPs, including the killer ‘Malibu EP’ with Burnski back in 2010 and, more recently, ‘Seagate’ on Steve Lawler’s VIVa Music in 2015. Now Rob is injecting his years of experience on the road and depth of knowledge into several projects that have allowed him to explore his wide-ranging tastes. He has teamed with his friends Death On The Balcony to form Same Frequency, placing the dance floor in their sights with their groovy, bass-heavy cuts. He became possessed by the relationship of frequency and acoustics, through many genres. As a teen, he was mentored by his father and uncle on the fundamentals of setting up his sound system. Influenced by the Mexican electronic music scene, and inspired by his hometown DJs, Robert was driven to bring more diversity to South Texas. The inception of his career as a DJ/Promoter was brought to life by 18. Through beach-raves, utilizing generators and local talent, he first showcased his understanding and passion for music. This sent waves through his community sparking a new scene in South Texas, allowing Robert to host international DJs at his club residency for the following two years. His motivation to expand his knowledge brought him to Austin, TX, to attend audio engineering school and immerse himself into the Austin electronic music scene. Robert’s ambition for a select caliber of sound led him to spearhead Movement Collective, a party-series based in Berlin and Austin, hosting multiple residencies throughout his tenure. The “movement” this inspired in Austin, ignited Blacktone, an agency and party series, founded by Robert’s friends and colleagues which he is now a part of. Furthering his relentless mission to develop and share diverse music, Robert co-founded ubiyu, a record label and party series in Austin, TX. Ubiyu currently hosts two monthly residencies to showcase their roster of international DJ’s and is steadily releasing digital and vinyl EP’s. Having started DJ-ing back in 2017, Roshan is driven and inspired by the sounds of Moodymann, HUNEE, Louie Vega, LEFTO & Gilles Peterson and the way they control the crowd throughout their set He has opened and played alongside the likes of Soulection artists Jarreau Vandal, esta.,Joe Kay, Jael, The Whooligan, Yukibeb and other notable DJs such as Branko, Peggy Gou, Dixon, Bambounou, Cezaire & Yung Bae. Russell has painstakingly cultivated a unique artistic expression that integrates and investigates themes around process, technological innovation, the archive, and decolonization. Their works have taken the form of vinyl records, digital audio releases, live A/V performances, and special archiving projects. Russell’s work has been featured in publications like the New Yorker, Resident Advisor, the East Bay Express, New York Dance Music zine Love Injection, and Bermuda’s national paper, The Royal Gazette. Their dynamic performances have helped them keep a busy tour scheduled, traveling as far and wide as Ukraine, France, Portugal, and the Netherlands to name a few. Through their work with modular synthesizers, Russell has been awarded grants and positions as a featured artist. In 2016, Russell began working with the Synthesizer Library in Portland, Oregon as an artist in residence. There they recorded, performed and held workshops for students. As an extension of this work, Russell’s expertise as an electronic musician was documented in the book Patch & Tweak by Kim Bjørn. This is an educational book about the development and implementation of modular synthesizers. In it Russell shares the intersections of their experiences as a Black, Queer, Trans immigrant in America and how that has informed their process as a musician. In 2019, Russell was awarded the Traveling Scholars Fellowship from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts to continue their work with modular synthesizers at the Synthesizer Library’s Prague, Czech Republic location. They would utilize this time to create over 30 compositions, some of which have been featured on NYC label Mr. Saturday Night and pioneering Berlin techno outfit, Tresor. Most recently, in 2021, Russell has worked as a featured artist, digitally archiving records from the collection of House Music pioneer, Frankie Knuckles, as part an installation created by Theaster Gates in a group show curated by renowned writer and curator, Antwan Sargent, titled “Social Works”. They have also featured on a digital and vinyl compilation celebrating the 30th anniversary of pioneering Techno organization, Tresor. Russell also works professionally as a recording, mix, and mastering engineer, an educator, and a consultant for special audio projects and films. Pero, en el 2017 es cuando decide crear su propia marca y dejar una huella en la escena electrónica a nivel nacional e internacional. Santiago es reconocido a nivel mundial como uno de los promotores mas jóvenes e influyentes de Sudamérica en la línea musical que él maneja. En marzo del 2020, celebró su 3er aniversario con grandes invitados internacionales y nacionales, donde tuvo reconocimiento por parte de una de las plataformas mas importantes a nivel mundial, llamada Trommel, que es una revista en línea que saco un artículo sobre su trabajo y el aporte que esta haciendo a la escena electrónica del país. First blowing a gale as a forerunner of the new wave of Melbourne dance producers, Tornado Wallace’s distinct and perceptive electronics now find him in a constant rotation of both hemispheres, spending most of the year based in Berlin. From formative house beginnings, the ESP Institute initiation Thinking Allowed proved Tornado Wallace as a force to be reckoned with - the driving groove and Will Powers stargazing quickly matched by an EP of eco-electro burners on Beats In Space. This two timing continued for another round with ESP issuing the elegant Circadia, while Beats In Space got their churning acid two-tracker Kangaroo Ground/Ferntree Gully. In tandem, krautback duo Coober Pedy University Band was formed with Otologic’s Tom Moore, who he’d previously stirred up trouble with as fractions of C Grade and Animals Dancing - two long standing parties of undeniable impact on their hometown. The in depth interview covered topics from his emergence on to the scene in 2010, his growth as an artist inking a deal with PMR records, a spot on the prestigious Radio 1 “Residency” which facilitated a number of bookings and performances the world over. The article also touched on his on going support from Red Bull Academy to his return to his independent creative roots with his Today Tomorrow records, the innovative spread covered every base. Another mile stone of 2017, was the launch and release of the collaborative efforts of Williams and Julio Bashmore, their first EP, one of many scheduled for further releases in the forthcoming year via their joint Independent Conch records. ZHU is the mysterious Chinese-American artist behind the 2014 hit single “Faded”. His real name is Steven Zhu and he was born in 1989 in Los Angeles, California. Although he released his first single anonymously in 2014, it wasn’t until 2015 that ZHU revealed himself as the mastermind behind the project. Over the years, he has become one of the most prolific electronic music producers in the world. ZHU’s career began with his self-titled debut album in 2014. The album featured several hit singles such as “Faded”, “Stay Closer” and “Working for It”. Since then, he has released four more albums: Ringos Desert (2016), Generationwhy (2016), Stardustexhalemarrakechdreams (2017) and RINGOS BACK (2019). He has also collaborated with many notable artists such as Tame Impala, KAYTRANADA, Skrillex, and Nero. In 2015, ZHU was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category for his debut album. He won the award for Best Dance Recording at the 2016 Grammy Awards for his collaboration with Skrillex and they Boyz Noize on “Working For It”. Now based in Berlin In Fernando Zapico, one can find a rare combination: a producer with a talent for creating timeless pieces of electronic dance music, who at the same time is able to shine bright as a selector and club DJ. What is it about Z@p that has made him such an idiosyncratic spirit in a sea of fresh DJs and producers emerging on a daily basis? One could look at his background; after all, being native to Uruguay, a grail of modern dance music with a rich legacy to learn from, definitely helps. Yet a strong infatuation with club culture and electronic music since the early 2000´s in the Montevideo scene has fostered him to develop and progress on a consistent basis. This same fascination led him to meet and become affiliated with the crew behind Phonotheque, a club and collective of which he is now a lifelong resident. Yet Nando is not just a representation of a culture but a representation of himself, of his edge. Perhaps this edge is the way to look at his music. Operating within a framework of conventional dance music, Z@p, as a DJ, is universally aligned to deliver his signature sound in various settings for various crowds. The beats are all-consuming, tension builds and releases organically, and there is not much left but to dance the night away under his skillful lead. But once you get sucked into the atmosphere, dissonance, carefully placed disruptions, otherworldly basslines, resonating acid, bended vocals, and seemingly contradicting narratives appear and start taking you on a whole other trip. Listening to an experienced and well-versed DJ express himself and utilize his skills, you’re bound to go on a layered and complex journey that is both captivating, empowering, and thought-provoking. Since 2015, the Uruguayan started touring Europe more and more frequently until 2018 when he finally bit the bullet and moved to Berlin permanently. He continues to tour and be a frequent guest at some of the best clubs in the world, yet somehow he manages to be a tour de force when it comes to production, consistently putting out tracks that electronic music fans all around the world treasure and appreciate.
