As Le Fantom Onde, producer and agent Leo Mendez explores the possibilities of modular synthesis through a wide techno, industrial and dark wave spectrum, along a strong visual component. His 2018 releases condense the years that Mendez, co-founder of HolaWave store/platform, has dedicated to studying and exploring modular synthesis, a fascination that has led him to share his knowledge in institutions such as SAE Institute and MUTEK MX’s Digi Lab, as well as a ten day residence in the iconic Elektronmusikstudion EMS in Stockholm. In the spring of this year he released the single “Tepactli”, accompanied by a clip with 3D visuals created by himself, as the first preview of his next EP, which we will listen in full in its live A/V version this Edition 16. Regarding his side as modular synth promoter, Leo along with the HolaWave crew is currently preparing the second edition of the Mexsynthco synthesis convention for January 2020.

Rumours have it that he escaped from a confetti factory in some faraway place, and that he was on the road with a flea circus afterwards. That would explain why all those sepia-coloured scenes from exotic places appear before the inner eye of his listeners: with the steady, hypnotic rattle of a steam train in the background, they show sequences from Middle East, South America, India, and from the infinite realms of inner space. It's this organic amalgamation of traditional, hand-played music and the digital functionality of house beats that makes Timboletti a very special DJ and producer.
