  • Helena Hauff

Hamburg native Helena Hauff is an in-demand DJ as well as an acclaimed producer of gritty, hard-edged electro-techno. Her music draws from influences such as acid house, EBM, and industrial, and she records her tracks strictly using analog equipment, usually in one take. Her full-length debut, 2015's Discreet Desires, contains some of her most melodic material, while 2018's Qualm is more stripped-down but no less energetic. Hauff has released a handful of EPs, including 2019's Living with Ants and 2021's Futuros with the Exaltics. ~ AllMusic

  • Avalon Emerson

Avalon Emerson is from the desert. While she currently lives in Berlin, the music she produces comes from the dreamlike expanse and abstract textures of the Sonoran landscapes of Arizona. Her journey has taken her from that sunbaked state to the contemporary dance music mecca via a long stint in San Francisco, where she cut her teeth as a DJ in the city's storied warehouse party scene. In her DJ sets and productions now, she offers a timeless narrative that reflects a passion for the sound design of new wave, the futurism of techno, the soul of American house and the exuberance of rave. Though she's built up steam in 2015 from multiple sets at Panorama Bar, and globetrotting all around Europe and North America, she's just getting started, and continues to outdo herself with original productions released on labels like Shtum, Spring Theory, Icee Hot, and her own DJ tool edit pool, the Cybernedits series.

  • Cormac

Primed to become an ‘overnight success’ in a similar way all overnight successes break-through; following many years of hard-work, Cormac is currently one of dance music’s best-kept secrets. With a rapidly growing reputation as a revered selector, the Northern Ireland born DJ is setting a course for dancefloors the world over with his sound that comprises the breadth of the house and techno spectrum, but with one defining characteristic; always records that touch the inner sanctum of the human spirit. Since he began collecting music as a teenager near Belfast, his journey has been singularly driven by the discovery of amazing sounds, and his humble role in the constantly renewed potential for dancefloor transcendence. Having traded in an all-too-quiet rural Irish life for the hedonism and high times of a very different London in the early 00s, Cormac was a regular dancer at zeitgeist defining institutions such as Trash, Nag Nag Nag and Bugged Out.

  • Gabrielle Kwarteng

New York-born DJ and Lot Radio resident Gabrielle Kwarteng is on a steady, slow-burning rise upward. Her guest shows won her a Mixcloud Online Radio Award and a regular slot, which garnered her a loyal following and led to bookings across NY and beyond. Gabrielle Kwarteng’s journey so far is one of passion, dedication and the occasional strike of fate. Born and raised in New York, Kwarteng’s name has recently risen in prominence throughout a challenging time for dance music and club culture. A DJ, radio host and curator, her sets have recently enchanted Panorama Bar in Berlin (four times in less than twelve months, no less), equally vital club spaces such as NYC’s Nowadays and Manchester’s own White Hotel, as well as a span of festivals including Love International, Glastonbury, Melt and Dekmantel Selectors. Listening to Kwarteng, whether in a cavernous rave hall, a sweat-soaked underground club or making intimate selections on the radio, is an experience that feels at once familiar but always energizing. Kwarteng’s diverse taste and open-mindedness lead first, allowing her to fluidly slip through a mix of heady 80s and 90s NY house, disco interpretations that traverse diaspora and eras, percussive passages alongside boldly broken beats and, as the lights get lower, an undeniable acid undercurrent. In an era of everything at once, Kwarteng weaves stories for the dancefloor that often look to the past, but always focus on possible futures. Kwarteng arrived at this position via a mixture of study and circumstance. Born in Brooklyn to Ghanaian parents but raised in the Bronx, her childhood was soundtracked by a mix of first-wave Highlife, Afrobeat and disco. Outside her front door, in a thriving neighborhood of diverse American experiences, entire sounds and scenes expanded and exploded as pop-culture began to mutate in new ways, both online and off. Crossing to Manhattan for school, the tempo changed entirely as rock, hip hop and experimental music filled Kwarteng’s ears while she studied intensely. Her academic focus was paramount, but Kwarteng couldn’t help but drift back towards the beat. First, from sciences to arts, where, at an esteemed upstate New York university, her dedication to trawling music blogs rendered Kwarteng the de facto DJ for house parties. She also began broadcasting on college radio; her daybreak show was a particular hit with professors arriving to work early to mark before lectures. Bouncing back to New York, Kwarteng continued to present a show on the burgeoning online radio station The Lot. In 2017, she was presented with the Mixcloud Online Radio Award for Best Eclectic Show, an early and completely unexpected acknowledgement of an instinct for music that traversed genre expectations. In parallel, Kwarteng played each and every Saturday night in the majestic ballroom of the SoHo Grand, amassing vinyl for a residency that helped define the uptown musical scene with her own downtown sensibilities. Now based in Europe, Kwarteng continues to criss-cross not only genres, but continents. Overcoming her inherent introversion to nervously approach Giles Peterson at a record store in Paris proved fortuitous; so impressed was the storied DJ by Kwarteng’s show on local station Le Mellotron, he invited her to appear at his own festival, Worldwide. Appearances at suitably open-minded spaces in Madrid, London, Bristol, Copenhagen and Kyiv soon followed. Wherever she performs, Kwarteng’s expertise serves to not only continue the championing of Black American genres such as house, techno and disco, but equally, to explore the continuum of global dance music as a whole. Having laid the foundations for a unique musical journey, it’s a level of respect that’s tangible on any dancefloor. In these increasingly sacred spaces, Gabrielle Kwarteng’s personal passion translates into collective ecstasy. The dig continues.

As many kids who have grown up in the early 90s in the South West of Germany, Gerd Janson was a regular guest at Mannheim’s legendary Milk Club. Although this venue was most popular for putting jungle on the map in Germany, Gerd always used to wait eagerly for the early morning hours when the pace slowed down and US styled house was the ruling sound. • Woody92

Woody92 is a visionary artist who’s musical craft runs parallel with a visual aesthetic resulting in very tangible outcomes. This highly expressive being draws influence from an array of external factors outside of music; subjects such as history, graphic design, the medieval era, the path of religion and the church all play a decisive role. He also keeps a tight circle of like-minded music heads many of which collectively shape the landscape of the Dutch underground scene. His story as an artist can be traced back to his hometown of Delft, a quiet part of the Netherlands with little musical identity but crucially neighbours with bigger brother The Hague. That being said Woody still caught glimpses of the psychadelic Techno, mystical ambient, free tribal tekno and push forward goa and psy-trance movements but locally it failed to rival that of the likes of Rotterdam & Amsterdam.....

  • Young Marco

Amsterdam based DJ and producer that also runs his Safe Trip label. There was a time when Marco Sterk a.k.a. Young Marco’s talents as a DJ and producer were among Amsterdam’s best-kept secrets. For well over a decade, he plied his trade, largely unheralded, on the city’s underground dance music scene. It was here, via several now infamous residencies, that he learnt his craft, gaining a reputation for ballsy, genre-defying eclecticism, playing sets that joined the dots between everything from tropical rhythms, afro gems and quirky Middle Eastern disco, to lost proto-house, throbbing techno and industrial-strength jack-tracks. These days, the Dutchman’s talents are widely known around the World. His position as a crate digger, record collector and infamous party-starter now guarantees a packed schedule of gigs in Europe, North America and beyond. His passion for working a dancefloor with “strange music” and “unclassics” is renowned, and it’s this that makes his sets so special. This humid, off-kilter obsession with the inspired and unusual has become a hallmark of Marco’s music, too. Once a key part of the Rush Hour family – the legendary Amsterdam label releasing a number of his early singles – in 2011 he made his debut on Lovefingers’ highly regarded ESP Institute label. His first two EPs for the label set out his now-trademark style, and won support from the likes of Dixon and James Murphy, amongst others, along the way. It’s perhaps unsurprising that a string of remix requests followed, leading to now classic reworks for the likes of Heatsick, Joakim, Francis Bebey and Soft Rocks. His 2013 remix of Tony G’s “Dreams”, a killer chunk of blissful new age deep house, became one of the most in-demand and sought after records of that year. At the tail end of 2015, the best of these remixes were gathered together on Sorry For The Late Reply, the first release on Marco’s freshly minted Safe Trip imprint. 2014 saw the release of his most accomplished studio work to date, the superb debut album Biology on ESP Institute. Wonderfully picturesque, melodious, humid and glassy-eyed, it received rave reviews and confirmed his status as one of electronic music’s truly unique voices. The same year also saw the release of Clouds, a magical collaborative fulllength written and produced in a weekend with Italian ambient pioneer Gigi Masin and British artist Jonny Nash. Credited to Gaussian Curve and released by Amsterdam’s Music From Memory label, it was the unfeasibly beautiful sound of three like-minded musicians working towards a shared goal. In 2017, Marco is as busy as ever. He’ll be hitting the road April onwards with Gaussian Curve for a handful of live dates around the world in support of their second album The Distance, while his contribution to Dekmantel’s series of crate-digging compilations, Selectors, is due to hit in March. His own label – Safe Trip – will be picking up steam with a string of releases that explore electronic music in many different directions. As usual, you’ll also find him spreading his love of weird, wonderful and eccentric music in basements, warehouses and clubs the world over.

̸BIOGRAPHY ✨🧑🏿‍🦱✨ AGY3NA grew up in Nürnberg, a city in Bavaria, Germany. At a young age, he first got in touch with music through different ensembles, where he played both baritone and percussion. Ignited by his early endeavors into Berlin’s gay nightlife, he began DJing at local clubs and bars. He soon started to perform regularly back home in Nürnberg, while also curating and organizing concerts and parties as part of an independent promoter collective. By mixing music from different genres and decades, AGY3NA often creates a feeling of nostalgia on the dancefloor, while always keeping his focus on playful rhythms and uplifting transitions. When he stands behind the decks, AGY3NA connects to his own feelings of freedom on the dancefloor. His music selection gravitates towards spacey, explorative, and rhythm-focused House and Electro. Afrofuturism, an aesthetic that explores the intersection of African culture and futuristic icons, plays a leading role in his artistic work. It not only connects his intrinsic urge for experimentation with his artistic expression, but also links it with his identity as a black man growing up in Germany. His projects are a result of the frictions related to this intersectional identity, which creates a unique narrative that cannot be ignored when listening to his music. After finishing his first degree in psychology, AGY3NA moved to Berlin to pursue a masters in cognitive science, while finetuning his DJing skills. Two years later, he moved to Leipzig, where he currently parallels his music projects with his research interests.

  • Budino

̸BIOGRAPHY Music Lover For some DJs, music will forever be in the foreground of their mind; every free moment is spent searching for new music or conceiving ways to blend new discoveries. Italian born Budino is one of these DJs, hers is a constant quest for fresh material to weave in her sets – sets that exist in clubbers minds as glorious psychedelic tapestries sewn from dark trance-inducing beats, tribal percussion and rich cosmic textures. Given this dedication and dexterity it’s unsurprising that praise is heaped so readily on Budino’s sets. After moving to Berlin and playing throughout the city since the age of eighteen, she was soon co-running the party series Oscillator at the now defunct and much lamented iconic club Griessmühle, along with its sister vinyl only label. She soon became a mainstay behind the decks at the infamous institution of queer hedonism that is Cocktail d’Amore and has since held a residency there for many years. With a diligence to seek out the perfect music for every moment, Budino has spent many years honing her craft creating unique edits that breathe versatility into the music she has dug deep to find. This often means when you hear her play, it may well be the only moment ever in which will you ever hear that version. However, a handful of these edits have seen the light of day on New York vinyl label JustWhatTheWorldNeeds. Budino has also been responsible for curating the fourth edition of Love International festival’s compilation series ‘The Sound of Love International’’. It reflects her interpretation of the ideal soundtrack for an endless and idyllic day into the night on the beaches of Tisno on the Adriatic coast, nodding to her comprehensive taste as a selector. With her enthusiasm, devotion and impeccable ear for music, Budino continues to go from strength to strength as a DJ and has plenty more of her passion to share with dance floors around the world.

Byron Yeates is a Berlin-based DJ and producer, founder of record label Radiant Records, and co-founder of La Noche. He has served his signature sound at Panorama Bar, Tresor, and Horoom and holds a bimonthly residency at Berlin’s Refuge Radio. Yeates’ sets are inflected with an attitude that can at once be incredibly playful and theatrically sincere, a duality that animates the queer lineage of electronic dance music in which Yeates places himself. Since November 2019, Yeates’ label Radiant Records has released an array of EPs by artists both locally and abroad. The catalogue is filled with floor-ready cuts that also reward a close listener – the RR sound is rich with unexpected timbres and textures, clever melodic lines and rhythms pivoting far off the 4/4. https://www.discogs.com/release/23492633-Byron-Yeates-Sweat-Ur-Prayers https://www.discogs.com/release/24747425-Byron-Yeates-Roza-Terenzi-D-Tiffany-Split-Step https://www.discogs.com/release/24414536-Various-Tiny-Planet-Vol-4 https://www.discogs.com/release/28816894-Various-Orbital-Vibrations https://www.discogs.com/release/26592803-Kasra-V-Hyperdelic https://www.discogs.com/release/28783057-Eoin-DJ-Fantasi

̸BIOGRAPHY Carlos Valdes (IsBurning) has been at the heart of the Amsterdam scene for years, as a DJ, label boss and promoter. Carlos Valdes has been a key figure of Amsterdam’s nightlife for well over two decades. His vital contribution to the city’s electronic music scene and LGBTQ+ community as a DJ, promoter, label owner, and all-round inspirator is indisputable. His mesmerising sets and endless likeability have made him an in-demand DJ in all corners of the globe. Carlos’ success did not come overnight, but has been underway since 1999, when he bought his first techno record. It’s the culmination of many years of hard work and utter devotion to creating the best possible vibe. As one of the founding fathers of the famous IsBurning nights, he helped lay the groundwork for the Dam’s now thriving LGBTQIA+ club scene. What started as a night with quality dance music for all gender identities at the legendary club Trouw, is now a worldwide phenomenon. Never communicating lineups, but always staging the best in house and techno, IsBurning has set venues ablaze from Munich to London, and from Barcelona to São Paulo. Carlos also co-owns Pamela, one of Amsterdam’s most popular queer bars. As a DJ, Carlos has built a loyal following through his sheer love and extensive knowledge of music. Some worry that his apartment will one day collapse under the weight of his enormous vinyl collection. But luckily for his ever-growing fan base, that hasn’t happened yet. Decades of dance music’s finest cuts come together in spellbinding narratives, keeping dancers on their tippy toes throughout the night, and into the early morning. Whether he’s slaying the floor at Panorama Bar, Blitz, or Bassiani, bringing the heat at Glastonbury, Dekmantel Selectors or Lighthouse Croatia, or creating magical journeys like his 6-hour set at Wildeburg, Carlos Valdes remains a musical force to be reckoned with. ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY IsBurning Site: https://www.isburning.com/ IG: https://www.instagram.com/isburningamsterdam/ SC: https://soundcloud.com/isburning Adonis IG: https://www.instagram.com/adonis_pleasuredome/

  • Cora (CN)

Searing with Sichuan spice – Cora is bringing the heat from Chengdu. Orbiting the cosmic specters of techno, trance, house, bass and breakbeat, Cora’s ever-evolving sound delivers with compelling momentum and astral intuition – superimposing dramatic subplots and emotional undertows onto unfurling rhythmic narratives, while channeling an acute sensitivity to the kinetic desires of the dancefloor. All-night basement parties in the sleepless underbelly of Hong Kong’s OMA at the fulcrum of the ‘10s initiated Cora’s swift departure from the glitz and glamour of a long-time modelling career and stint as an indie film actor, towards an inspired pursuit of electronic energies and club music catharsis. An intercontinental dance savant, raving from China to Saigon and beyond – Cora has been a vital force in activating meridians between underground club scenes in East Asia and the rest of the world. Incubated over years of work, sweat and tears at dedicated nightspots The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City and .TAG Chengdu, her nuanced aesthetic and penchant for ephemeral grooves have now synthesized into a sophisticated style of her own. After countless days and nights as the last girl on the dancefloor, Cora is one of the emerging talents providing the soundtrack to a city awakened, accelerating at a time where dance music has never been more vital.

  • Danielle

̸BIOGRAPHY When a true selector takes flight, it sounds as though they re-mould each track to fit their specific vision. That’s exactly the effect Danielle has as a DJ, drawing across stylistic divides to create an instinctive groove which is all her own. On top of a foundational core of house, techno and electro she folds in myriad sonic wildcards to create dynamic, innovative variations on the club music experience. It’s logical her tastes would be omnivorous – Danielle spent 10 years working at fabled London record shop Phonica, one of the definitive destinations for dance music in the city, as well as a lengthy tenure at iconic Bristol store Idle Hands. Being across new releases week in, week out is one thing, but knowing how to stitch them together is another. From the breakthrough years perfecting the craft of a great warm-up to her long-standing residency on NTS Radio since 2017, Danielle shaped her approach to DJing from a free-thinking, fluid angle which still rings true now she’s more commonly found at the top of the bill. Danielle’s DJing has touched upon vital events, venues and locations around the world, from touring the US and playing flagship festivals like Glastonbury, Dimensions, Kala and Love International, to clubs like DC10, Fabric, The White Hotel, Corsica Studios and Tresor, holding down a residency season for Colour Factory in London and Left Bank in Tbilisi, and frequently picked for parties as revered as Timedance, Herrensauna and Livity Sound. In tandem, her skills have been recognised by key publications including Mixmag, DJ Mag (she was nominated as a best breakthrough DJ in 2020) and Resident Advisor. Beyond her own DJ work (she’s also a frequent contributor to many a mix series), Danielle also takes the time to impart her experience and knowledge to the next generation via her classes at Mix Nights – a non-profit organisation she helped set up seven years ago to encourage women and non-binary people to explore the art of DJing. Elsewhere, she works in an A&R and consultancy capacity for Team Love – a role which speaks to her consistent instinct for new developments within club music. Similarly, her label Soft Raw was founded in 2022 as a platform to champion the fresh talent she comes across in her position as a revered DJ. All these elements feed into the overall mission Danielle is on, pursuing her love of dynamic, physical soundsystem music with errant coding in its DNA. Keyed into new revolutions in the ever-evolving culture of the dancefloor, Danielle melds her impeccable taste together with fierce commitment and flair, delivering the impulse to move and presenting wholly new ideas to any crowd, any party, any time, anywhere.

  • Dee Diggs

A selectress with no inhibitions digging & choosing parts that build to Adventurous, Energetic, Seductive, & Rapturous sets spanning many genres. Dee Diggs is a DJ and writer based in Brooklyn, NY. She is unapologetically black, queer, and a life long student of the tenets of House Music. The year 2020 found her at the top of her game after a debut European tour during August 2019, her name was popping up on top bills on a weekly basis in NYC. Her energetic, yet deep approach to DJing has seen this Boston to Brooklyn transplant lighting up dancefloors all over; in particular, garnering attention in the queer party scene. This mixes well with her ethos: using her influence to create space for marginalized groups to express & organize themselves. Her aim is to contribute to & sustain more spaces where these groups are valued and thanked by name for their contributions to humanity. Thank the OG Black innovators of House & Techno! Thank you, Disco-era Queens & Queers alike for the theatrics & fanfare of nightlife as we know it! There are homages to these origins alluded to in her taste and most noteworthy mixes. Dee Diggs’ mix for FACT Magazine was released in March 2019 and charted on Pitchfork’s and Resident Advisors’ own Best Mixes of 2019 lists. It cut an arch through dance music’s past and present to convey an interesting melding of Dee’s signature sounds: lyrical storied tracks, sensual club edits, soulful realness, sneaky grooves, passionate thumpers, and nostalgic endings. Her eponymous party, House of Diggs debuted in February 2020 to stir and settle the hearts of all the lovers of house, funk, soul, disco, and R&B in Brooklyn, before the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent club closings curtailed that momentum for 1.5 years. However, 2021 has found her making strides again. Diggs is still crafting stellar DJ mixes for her Soundcloud and radio guest spots, while also building her music production chops in her home studio in Brooklyn. She has resumed curating House of Diggs as an event series at Jupiter Disco, a rotary focused intimate dance floor in Bushwick and also holds a DJ residency at a hi-fi nightclub in Gowanus, BK named Public Records.

  • Dis Fig

̸BIOGRAPHY For Berlin-based producer and DJ Felicia Chen (aka Dis Fig), risk-taking and provocation is an integral part of the creative process. Chen's live show fleshes out the unflinching sonics of debut LP PURGE (released in Spring 2019 on New York collective and experimental label PTP) into an astonishing and annihilating spectacle, her singularity on stage only augmenting the sense of a very personal rite of exorcism. Marking a move away from the dancefloor strictures that Dis Fig continues to explore in her full-blooded, multi-layered DJ sets, PURGE is a calculated procedure towards a new chaotic world. Tinted by fever dream atmospherics, Chen places her own vocals, which morph between inconsolable distorted wails and polyphonic reverie, at the forefront. Purge is an involuntary act; it journeys into the body-breaking cost of emotional repression and the crippling catharsis that inevitably follows. "This ain’t just your run-of-the-mill wall of power electronics and angry screams ... Dis Fig’s range is surprisingly undogmatic, including synthetic brass sections, flutes, and piles of quiet" - The Quietus "Harrowing as they can be, PURGE’s compositional twists and turns are harsh enough to offer you the same thing that they offered Dis Fig herself — relief from the bad shit you’re holding inside" - VICE In 2020, Dis Fig linked up with The Bug to create their album In Blue (released on Hyperdub), leaving her productions aside for intimate vocals and lyricism to match. “Dis Fig is the latest collaborator who brings out the best in (The Bug), revealing a new facet of her own artistry and unlocking a new dimension to The Bug's sound. Dis Fig transcends In Blue's origins in genre exercise into an otherworldly fever dream, an album of tectonic bass and thundering drums that somehow feels intimate and sensual. It's as much her triumph as it is his.” - Resident Advisor

  • DJ Koolt

̸BIOGRAPHY DJ KOOLT Experiencing from the beginning, step by step, the evolution of the electronic scene in Montevideo and influenced since very young by the most avant-garde sounds, nowadays there’s no doubt whatsoever about his being the most relevant model in the Uruguayan scene, after the great influence he has already stamped in several generations of local artists. Certain dj’s manage to go beyond the barrier of just playing music and create an atmosphere with a different energy, a result of mixing good music selection, according to each moment, and an exquisite technique to mix it. These are two features that have marked Eduardo Cardozo aka DJ KOOLT and MR. KOOLT since his very beginnings. Dj Koolt is one of the greatest exponents of the Uruguayan underground scene and a faithful collector of vinyl records. He also earned an European recognition by playing in many great parties such as FUSE (Brussels), Closer (Kiev), Club Eden (Bucharest), Closer (Kiev), Cartulis Music (London), Concrete (Paris), RED58 (Barcelona), OHM and Hoppetosse (Berlin), Goa (Rome) and much more. Playing for 20 friends at an after-hours or for 1000 people at some club, one can easily recognize Edu by a natural characteristic of his: the connection and the trance he is able to create in his audience. In 2013, he and two friends opened Phonotheque, the only club 100% devoted to Underground electronics in Uruguay and one of the best in the region. Few months after opening, Phonotheque became an important reference point at a national and international level and promoting their own style and distancing itself from conventional electronic music.

  • Donato Dozzy

Few DJs and producers are as widely and universally acclaimed in techno circles as Italian Donato Dozzy. He has a rare ability to work his way into peoples’ minds in both contemporary and classical settings, conjuring real mood and atmosphere. Never one to pay heed to the zeitgeist, he prefers to deal in hypnotic soundscapes that really take you on a trip. Enigmatic as he is, and laidback as he seems, as an artist he is constantly unveiling new work. Displaying a large variation in terms of sound and method across many new releases each year — some of which come on his co-owned label Spazio Disponibile — he also puts out installations for public spaces and museums, uses obscure musical instruments, collaborates with likeminded producers, classical singers or visual artists. Donato seems to continuously challenge himself on a creative level: whatever method he uses, though, he is always likely to permeate your cerebral cortex and rewire it in fascinating and compelling new ways.

  • Donna

̸BIOGRAPHY Addicted to Music and Synthesizers. From Stuttgart to Berlin – a passionate decision for Donna. In 2016 she said goodbye to her hometown to recharge musically in Berlin and acquire new skills in producing. Now, 5 years later, she is not only completely at home in Berlin, but more importantly in her sound. She had her first gig in 2001, and from then on there was no turning back. Making music – that's what she always wanted to do. From the very start, being a passive listener at the club was not enough for her. So she found her first mentor. Over the years, she has continued to grow. Today, as Donna, she steps up to the DJ booth in her most authentic form. When DJing, Donna follows her intuition, letting herself be guided by the atmosphere in the club. There is rarely a planned set, but what the tracks always have in common is their pulsating energy, their drive. It can be groovy and melodic, but also darker and harder. Donna feels every track she plays one hundred percent. From house to techno, to 90s groove, Detroit sound, acid, breakbeats, electro and IDM, it is all there – depending on what mood she perceives in the club and what resonates best with the moment. As a child of the 90s, she is influenced by the sound of those years. Her residencies in different clubs, her bookings and release tours as well as her own radio show have also had a lasting effect on her. Her love for synthesizers and hardware comes through loud and clear as well. She finds inspiration everywhere and relies completely on her keen intuition. For Donna, being able to DJ music is still a privilege today, and you can feel it. It sometimes almost feels magical when the tracks blend seamlessly together and people dance endlessly. Creating this magic is where she most feels at home. Currently Donna is working on her first release that is completely her own – the tracks "Let Love Be" and "I Believe in Love" transport the best 90s diva style and strong emotions. She is also part of a duo with vocalist Kasia, who will also be featured on the release, a soul and pop heavy project that brings her enormous joy and challenges her. She is also working on a live set and expanding her knowledge of modular systems.

  • Dr. Rubinstein

The Russian-born Tel Aviv native Marina Rubinstein (the honorific is strictly cosmetic) moved to Berlin in 2012, shortly after beginning to spin, and swiftly became one of the sharpest party d.j.s anywhere. A Dr. Rubinstein set is easy to recognize—it’s both stark and raucous, festooned with vintage-Roland TB-303 acid synth lines and an unforced bonhomie that’s rare in techno. She remains a committed dancer: “If I’m not playing, you won’t ever find me in a d.j. booth,” she recently said.

  • Efdemin

Efdemin is a mainstay of techno's days and nights. Berliner by choice he holds a residency at Berghain and operates his label naïf. Calm, cool and collected, Efdemin’s music is infused by elegant darkness, discreet beauty and the complete lack of jittery. With LPs and 12-inches for Dial, Curle and Ostgut Ton, his remixes (e.g. Depeche Mode), his Pigon project together with RNDM or his drone and ambient pieces under his original name Phillip Sollmann for instance, Efdemin is equally at home in very different circles. In the world of art as much as in the techno realm, and while moving from intelligent pop quotes into the universe of Sun Ra, he does the splits effortlessly and without overstretching it. A sonic thesaurus like his second album Chicago finds his place in Efdemin’s body of work as well as the stripped down funk of “Just A Track”, the urgency of “Acid Bells” or the straightforwardness of “Bergwein”. Going well along with all those gestures and desires is his own Label naïf. Accordingly named and vinyl only, it’s his outlet to release music from friends and allies that is close to his heart. http://ostgut.de/booking/artist/efdemin/discography

GIN (she/they) - Co-founder of Resis’dance, Goldsnap, Nite Dykez, Sex and Rage & Faggamuffin Bloc Party. GIN is a DJ & event producer w/ 10+ years experience behind the decks. They’ve played notorious stages, parties & festivals such as Body Movements, Brainchild, Lovebox & Secret Garden Party, Pxssy Palace, BBZ, Keep Hush and more. GIN is currently working with UK Black Pride as their Nightlife Liaison. GIN’s work champions Safer Spaces Policies in nightlife throughout. Gin’s approach to event management is one that has a foundation in community organisation and creating safer spaces for Queer, Trans, Intersex, Black and People of Colour (QTIPOC). Having worked in event management for 10 years, Gin is keenly aware of how this area has a huge potential for activism and community wellbeing within the context of prioritising the lives, experiences and culture of marginalised people. Her various work has ranged from fund-raising for activist organisations to creating safe and accessible events at Hackney Carnival, to being the pioneer for Safer Spaces Policies in London which led to various groups adopting her structures as well as being invited to deliver workshops and talks to organisations such as The Tate. Gin is interested in maximising visibility and representation of marginalised people, she has a strong belief in the power of collective action through celebration as resistance. It is for this reason she is both excited and revitalised by the prospects of being part of real change through UK Black Pride, an organisation she both admires and respects. Born in Mexico and raised in Bermuda, both countries where homosexuality is stigmatised and until recently criminalised, Gin has first hand experience of the harmful effects at the intersections of homophobia and misogyny. Whilst she has found a home in London, she nonetheless has experienced major push backs in her working environments; she is keenly aware of the myriad issues, both overt and subtle, that affect Black and Brown queer people within bureaucratic systems that actively disengage marginalised people from achieving not just as individuals, but as a community. It is with this in mind that she is striving to achieve change that is community informed & led by that same community.

Electronics from Identified Patient for you Certifiably one of the most revered underground DJs of the Netherlands, Job Veerman, better known as Identified Patient, has made a name for himself as an otherworldly storyteller. His leftfield mixes take the listener on a white-knuckle ride of twists and turns, with no genre, tempo, or mood off-limits. The Amsterdam-based artist made his ascension with some of Rotterdam’s finest imprints, all the while filling dance floors across the country and throughout Europe. His style fuses raw aesthetics with unrivaled, relentless energy which he translates into his productions as fluidly as his DJ sets. With a trademark sound that drifts between the experimental sides of techno, electro, acid, dub, and jungle, it was not long before his music gained the attention of Rotterdam-based labels. In 2020 he released his Nerve Deposit EP as part of Dekmantel’s UFO Series. This year he will return to Dekmantel’s imprint, this time with his debut album. Not only this, but he is busy collaborating with Gamma Intel on an EP, also due to hit the airwaves this year. Besides his sensually severe, irreverent productions, Identified Patient has put himself on the map with his high-energy DJ sets, brimming with tension that spills over into eclectic and diverse styles. • Ineffekt

̸BIOGRAPHY Through a blend of glistening vocal pieces, strings of dreamy melodies and distinctive rhythms, Ineffekt cleverly takes on a sound that both feels comfortable and illusive. It’s a nonchalant approach that results in colorful euphoria. Debut releases 'Kora' (Album, 2021) and 'Broken Dreams / Solaris' (EP, 2020) on Intercept, as well as a string of remixes including Coloray's ‘Blinded’ and Luna Morgenstern’s ‘Click Work Drop’ capture the above. Surrounding themselves with influences from a wide range of contemporary music, including breakbeat, pop and techno, it’s not so much aiming for a specific, but reaching for a compromise between eras and stylistically diverse sounds. That fusion of influences also shows up on the long list of releases planned for 2023. Leading to esteemed artists and platforms in the left-field to embrace his output. Following his 2020 debut EP, Ineffekt broadened his horizon by exploring hypermodern contemporary music that resulted in a run of original productions and remixes, including his debut album ‘Kora’, that have influences from all over the place, most notably breakbeat and altpop, as well as hints from a new wave of colorful electronica that has been developing in recent years. Consequently the 21-year-old supported Avalon Emerson, Bicep, Bonobo and Mall Grab on their tour nights, as well as performing at DGTL Festival, Dekmantel Selectors and prominent club De School in Amsterdam. ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY Catch The Sun / A Blackbird Rose on Intercept (2022) Kora on Intercept (2021) A Dream of Spring on Something Happening Somewhere (2021) Broken Dreams / Solaris on Intercept (2020)

Jeff Mills, along with Robert Hood, Carl Craig, and Joey Beltram, is one of the biggest American names in techno. Championed for his music's relentless pursuit of hardness and his intense, almost industrial DJ sets (often utilizing three or four turntables or CD decks and a drum machine), Mills is one of the most significant figures in a long line of Detroit-bred talent to earn an international reputation. A founding member of noted Motor City institution Underground Resistance, Mills helped build the artist roster and label ideology (as well as much of its back catalog) with partners "Mad" Mike Banks and Robert "Noise" Hood during the late '80s and early '90s. ~ AllMusic

After more than a decade spent building an enviable reputation for herself in the clubs of Paris, Jennifer Cardini has become an international concern. Jennifer Cardini long since outgrew Pulp – the Parisian club where she first made her name– and set off on a mission to take her vision of house music to audiences around Europe and beyond. Over the course of a career spanning of fifteen years, she has delivered DJ sets fusing techno, electro and disco at the world’s most prestigious clubs (Panorama Bar in Berlin, De School in Amsterdam, Lux in Lisbon, Good Room in New York) and hottest festivals (Melt, Nuit Sonores, Burning Man). Yet her dancefloor philosophy is reflected not only by her sets and the music released on her labels, including electro imprint Correspondant and the more indie oriented Dischi Autunno but also by her engagement in support of the LGBT-community. Jenny Cara’s sets oscillate between blithe and cheerful sounds, driven by the dynamic influences of UK soundculture. Still, the human dynamo doesn’t let herself be put into a box. Based in Zurich, the Swiss DJ first touched base with electronic music early on when she launched out into the club scene of Lucerne, where her musical education began. Even though her grades in school suffered, her endeavors brought her to become a booker and later manager of Zurich’s Club Zukunft. Jenny Cara’s energetic spirit taps into all different fields of her work, leading her to co-found the project eXchange, which revolves around creating access for BIPoC FLINTAs into the realms of DJing and music production and reducing discriminatory structures. Her selection oscillates between blithe and cheerful sounds, driven by the dynamic influences of UK soundculture. Still the human dynamo doesn’t let herself be put into a box. Her intersectional approach centers community, history, joy and accessibility, all the while not forgetting the importance of a good House banger. • Kate NV

Kate NV is... ...the multifaceted solo persona of Moscow-based artist Kate Shilonosova. A changeling that follows afflatus in all its forms, NV is a student of architecture, illustrates curious, colorful characters, and improvises live with bells and water glasses amidst compact synthesizers and cables. Her debut Pink Jungle EP was followed by the frenetic pop-leaning Binasu released by Orange Milk in 2016 and the minimalist exploration of для FOR released by RVNG in 2018. As her musical pendulum swings back from playful instrumental to surreal song, NV is paired with RVNG for the second time on Room for the Moon. NV describes the songs of Moon, as dear friends; each piece of music is a moody cinematic moment where NV performs with a cast of off-kilter objects. Influenced by Japanese 80s pop and Russian conceptualism, Victor Pivovarov comes through when NV describes composing music. Imagine entering a cozy room that has boundaries but at the same time can contain an entire world. Celestial bodies party and time fits in a pocket. When composing, NV listens to her surroundings and daydreams while abstract electronics and enchanted songs visit. Recorded around Moscow with friends and collaborators, the music is a frothy distortion of nostalgic atmospheres cast in sax, base, marimba and MIDI. Singing is at the foreground-- beaming with assurance, delivered in multiple languages and characters. One gets the sense that NV as a performer has near infinite capacity to push further.

  • Kim Ann Foxman

̸BIOGRAPHY Kim Ann Foxman / Firehouse Recordings / self:timer / Pleasure Planet The short-story version of Kim Ann Foxman’s trajectory is pretty simple: An island-born kid dreams of a life in clubland, hits the big city and, with a little bit of luck and a lot of hard work, emerges as one of dance music’s leading figures. But it’s the details that transforms her singular tale into something far more fascinating than the standard-issue success story. After all, what other DJ can lay claim to the title of Miss Teen Filipina Hawaii? How many can say that their first job in nightlife was when in high school, serving as the in-house dancer and serving rave smoothies at an all-ages club? How many, after moving to New York by way of San Francisco in the early ’00s, can say that they helped to rejuvenate the city’s then-stale nightlife via her residency at one of the best parties ever held in a hole-in-the-wall gay bar, the Mad Clams affair? How many have tasted stardom as one of the original members of the scene-making dance-music collective Hercules and Love Affair? Exactly one, and it’s Kim Ann. But it’s a safe bet that she would have made it to where she is today without those biographical eccentricities, because her near-classical take on jacking club rhythms is hard to resist, sounding as fantastic at a full-scale mega-rave as it does at a grimy basement bash. It’s a universally appealing sound that’s taken her around the world—the past few years have seen her playing such hallowed halls as Fabric, Berghain, DC-10, Concrete and Contact, all while holding down a residency at her hometown’s Good Room. A lifetime in clubbing has informed Kim Ann’s studio work as well, with her music—much of it coming out on her own Firehouse label—synthesizing the best elements of raw house, propulsive 303 material, emotive techno and even the occasional hint of trance into a hugely satisfying whole that lives somewhere between the weird and the wonderful. And then there’s her latest project, Pleasure Planet, which sees her teaming with Andrew Potter and Brian Hersey to add sparkling touches of extraterrestrial new wave to the mix on her new sublabel, self:timer. It’s yet another twist in the continuing saga of Kim Ann Foxman—and, we’d wager, there are plenty more to come. Bio Written By Bruce Tantum

  • Lena Willikens

Amsterdam based DJ and Producer Lena Willikens. Resident at Salon Des Amateurs, Düsseldorf. Artist on Dekmantel Rec. Radio broadcaster of "Lightning Conductor" on NTS Radio. Lena Willikens doesn’t play the hits. When she’s behind the decks, even her biggest fans often have no idea exactly what she’s playing, and that’s part of the magic. Like all DJs, Willikens of course has a passion for records and is always on the hunt for elusive bits of music, but as an artist, her work doesn’t hinge on any one track or even a handful of tracks. She’s after something bigger, something that’s truly transportive for those on the dancefloor, and the tracks she plays – whether they’re bizarre slices of synth exploration, some ominously churning proto-industrial stomp, or something else that simply defies classification – are all parts of a larger, more psychically satisfying whole. These days, however, Willikens' radio adventures happen on NTS, where she pilots the monthly Lightning Conductor program. Now based in Amsterdam, her curatory prowess prompted an invite from Dekmantel to put together the fifth installment of their acclaimed Selectors compilation series, and she also contributed a track to the label’s run of all-star 10th anniversary EPs. As a remixer, she's been tapped in recent years to rework the likes of Lena Platonos, rRoxymore, S U R V I V E, Simian Mobile Disco, and Ana Helder, amongst others. And amidst all this activity, she's also been busy with Phantom Kino Ballett, a collaboration with artist Sarah Szczesny that lands somewhere between immersive audio-visual experience and performance art, allowing Willikens to indulge her transportive impulses in a completely new way. Nevertheless, it’s in the DJ booth where Willikens continues to make the biggest impact. As of late, she’s forged a particularly potent partnership with fellow sonic explorer and Salon des Amateurs alum Vladimir Ivkovic, the two engaging in a sort of mind meld that brings together their shared love of electronic music’s darkest and most bizarre corners. It’s here that he can connect people and show his diverse musical taste in multiple ways, which goes far beyond just house and techno. As a creator Lucky Done Gone has worked hard on his own music productions these past years. This has led to a release on the DGTL Records music label in 2022. More music is on its way now and will see the light of day very soon. With key performances at festivals such as Lowlands, Wildeburg, DGTL, and Awakenings to his name, Lucky is becoming an increasingly figure in the electronic music scene. In addition, he has made a name for himself at popular clubs such as WAS, Skatecafe, and Woodstock in the Netherlands, and has expanded his reach beyond the country with gigs at Macadam in Nantes (FR) and Desi in Nuremberg (GE). Watch out because it looks like there are plenty of occasions to catch Lucky Done Gone somewhere in the near future!

  • Marco Shuttle

Marco Shuttle has always achieved a lot with a little, and that is the singular aesthetic that stands him apart. His cinematic techno sounds are unusually organic: they build pressure in subtle ways and his meticulous grooves never fail to take listeners on a trip to somewhere new and exciting. As a result of this, he has become a firm favourite amongst the techno cognoscenti and has released on some of the most revered labels of the day, from famed New York club The Bunker’s new label to Peter van Hoesen’s untouchable Time To Express via Clone SOS and his regular home, Eerie Records. Italian born but London based, where he also gained his MA in Fashion at St Martin’s. What ties his creative work together is a focus on abstract yet organic texture and the same thing defines his tightly woven DJ sets from fabric to Berghain to Labyrinth in Japan. His eclectic cerebral sound takes cues from jazz and musique concrete as much as it does from acid house and Detroit techno.

̸BIOGRAPHY Amsterdam based DJ, Knekelhuis label boss, 1/2 Volition Immanent. Whether he be busy blurring the lines of dance music as we know it via his genre-busting label, Knekelhuis, or fronting hybrid analogue-punk act Volition Immanent alongside longtime partner-in-crime Parrish Smith, Mark Knekelhuis is a man much rather attracted by the weird and the unknown than the stale comfort offered by formulaic recipes and self-imposed censorship. Actually, if there's one thing to make Mark tick as a musician and label curator, this has to be the unlimited firepower of dance music as a transgressive but unifying means of expression. Obviously a key component of Knekelhuis' ever elusive nature and steady success as a much versatile yet easily identifiable imprint, this shape shifting / hyper-dynamic approach is also at the very heart of Mark's wide-scope vision as a DJ and artist. Through intricately knit constructions that span the vastest musical spectrum - ranging from quirky techno to synth-pop, through electronics, wave and ambient, Mark engages his audience into an equally intimate and physical conversation in music, interrogating without answering, opening up without ever confining his sets within dogmatic aesthetic borders. Among his biggest influences def Theo Parrish, Coil, Cocteau Twins and The Cure should be mentioned. Driven by that strong sense of inclusion and eclecticism, sprinkled with touches of pastel-painted melancholy and wilder-than-wild flows of raw energy, Mark's craft sure isn't one to burn bridges; no, it builds bridges where cultural gaps divide, challenging ears and consciousnesses through vibrant collages, while turning the dance floor into a most welcoming shelter for supraliminal body-and-soul communion.

  • Mika Oki

Mika Oki is a visual artist, Dj and producer born in Paris. With a background in sculpture and electro-acoustic music, she explore the notion of intangible spaces and emotional landscapes through AV installations, music and mixes. Like a sculptor who knows that the slightest miscalculated move of a chisel could damage the totality of an artwork, Mika Oki’s selections elude great mastery and undeniable preparation. Doing wonders in her many radio shows, it’s difficult to realise her taste in rumbles and undeniable love for sounds from across the Channel (drum and bass, UK garage, 2-step, grime…) before seeing her on the dancefloor. Never hesitating to alternate a 90s dance anthem with an obscure juke track, she also manages to gather seemingly disparate and conflicting elements together, creating an incredible coherence. Percussive but generous, erudite yet uninhibited, she pieces together unique mixes that never cease to surprise. Eternal dreamer, she uses abstract sound textures and kinetic images to generate mind trips, body journeys through music performances and immersive installations. She also developed an interest in Djing in clubs and radio shows where she translate her atmospherical experimentations, blurring The boundaries between techno, dub and ambient/narrative sounds. This year, she played in European audiovisual festivals like TodaysArt, SONICA, CYNETART and in Uganda for the last Nyege Nyege festival. She also exhibited her work “Reverse Osmosis” at Berlin Atonal 2018. Her involvement in the electronic and experimental music scenes, and her desire to highlight the Belgian artistic community led her to become station manager at The Word Radio in Brussels.

  • MSJY

̸BIOGRAPHY The Disconnect rep plays her role in a range of scenes: vibrating darkened dance-floors with bass-heavy cuts; and a gentler touch to daytime slots with alluring, cross-genre provocations. A selector who is unafraid to both own and shift the script. Which character is next for shapeshifting MSJY? After dark, a two-piece yellow tracksuit looms over the decks, unleashing a frenzy of electric beats. When the sun is up, her gentler touch is at play: fusing unthinkable combinations of genre into alluring, deliberate provocations. Born from OOST club of north NL, the character of MSJY continually changes form. Taking early shapes in residencies with Noorderling, De School, Griessmuehle, and currently Oxi, she shifts to bill without compromising her sound and unafraid to provoke; her sets are characterised by pace, energy and a balancing of different moods. That balance is brought into force delicately; easing listeners across an expansive style. With craft the otherworldly is made club-ready. Foresight and cautious preparation enable her to glide between genres that would formerly seem nonsensical – opening up her sound to distant tones whilst maintaining respect for the dancefloor’s natural order. When the bass and darkness subside, her lighter daytime persona comes into being. Beneath the beats a conceptual side is unearthed. Unposed is her latest creation: a release series exploring the emotive nature of a club night's final hours. In her Jay-by-day radio slots this conceptual side is further summoned; brought to life in strongly thematic, cross-genre explorations. Take 1: Brain Dub - the deft interplay of IDM and dub music. Take 2: Trip Jazz - the delving of trip-hop into acid’s soul. Themes come to life in many takes – a shifting melange of iridescent shapes. Though the shapeshifting persona can be hard to pin down, her DJ sets are rarely off the mark: willing to unwind the norms and push the narrative. Each scene offers a fresh role for her to perform. A character who both owns and shifts the script.

  • Nelly (NL)

̸BIOGRAPHY Creativity is the tool Nelly uses to process, understand and cope with the world. She finds solace in forest walks as much as she does on darkened dance floors and losing herself in these moments allows her to reset, reflect and become re-inspired. When she is on the other side of the DJ booth, she is someone who distills dark musical forces into high energy sets rich in atmosphere and dense with emotion. Impactful hypnotism, explosive rave, stylish trance and growling machines all colour the airwaves and make for moments of true escapism and non-stop physical workouts. But there is another side to Nelly's sound: away from the club she threads fluid musical stories that draw on a wide array of genres. They explore the darker side of her psyche and are a form of therapy that can soothe and stir various different emotions and transform troubled mindsets. As Nelly's family was a part of the Indonesian diaspora that arrived in Rotterdam by boat after the Indonesian War of Independence, her storytelling audiovisual projects, mixtapes and photography draw on intergenerational trauma and how to deal with it. Early in her life, Nelly was surrounded by a wide array of music but properly began exploring electronic sounds when she moved to Rotterdam. Her favourite spaces to dance in were cosy and sweaty basements. By then, she already used to spend hours making mixtapes in her bedroom. A time spent studying in Stockholm gave her the chance to buy her first controller and properly explore DJing, then a job behind the counter at the legendary Clone record store back home furthered her passion for digging ever deeper. From the '90s rave and trance of Belgium's Bonzai Records to Paul Johnson's raw Chicago sound, Nelly's inspirations are united by realness and roughness that always makes you want to dance. "The dance floor has an enormous place in my heart," says Nelly. "It is the place where I can laugh and cry at the same time; a place where I can let all my emotions flow." The basement space Nelly loved so much was in BAR Rotterdam, which eventually closed. But it is now known as POING and Nelly had the honour of re-opening it after the lockdown with her first-ever DJ set. Since then she has played at places such as ADE, at Rotterdam's techno club Perron, and FIBER Festival where she played a mesmeric closing set with VJ Leeza Pritanchenko. During the pandemic, Nelly's sounds were broadcast far and wide with mixtapes for the likes of Dekmantel, Nous’klaer and Traumgarten. Now, though, she is back to the DJ booth and ready to take you on your next trip into the unknown.

  • Oli Keens

̸BIOGRAPHY Oli Keens is a disco DJ from London and a resident with queer party collective, Little Gay Brother. DJ life hasn't always been lush for Oli Keens... He once had to carry a burning speaker out of a school disco in Wembley, while a load of sixth-formers pissed themselves, obviously. Grandmaster Flash called him 'a disgrace to hip hop' when he turned up for his first club date without slipmatts and needles. Harsh, right? He once played a gig at a hospice. He once played a Christmas party for some confused London cabbies in a greasy spoon under the A40 flyover. He once played a gig on an army barracks in Essex. Three men got naked. That bit was actually quite cool. ...anyway, the point of mentioning this malarky is that, years later, it feels like a complete DELIGHT for this London-based DJ to play music in more conventionally conventional places. Oli Keens is a fiendish collector of disco and loves nothing more than sharing his finds and spreading joy, weekend after weekend. Oli is a resident for London queer party collective Little Gay Brother, who give him the space, support and big drag energy to tell a unique disco story at their epic Omeara parties, headline sets at Meadows in the Mountains, Elrow takeovers and more. He's played for Percolate at some very lovely rave-'em-ups at Hangar and Queens Yard Summer Party and for Savage at their kinky Metropolis mothership. He’s also played just about every sonic nook and danceable cranny in his hometown of London (where he’s also been the Music and Nightlife Editor of Time Out magazine for the last five years): XOYO, Egg, Omeara, Koko, Royal Academy, The Nest, Spiritland, Bethnal Green Working Men's Club, Magazine, Oslo, Dalston Superstore, Scala, Heaven, Metropolis. He’s also done shows for Rinse FM and played a glut of festivals, such as Bestival, Lovebox, Secret Garden Party, Mighty Hoopla, Standon Calling and Wilderness. • Ouissam

It would be wrong to start talking about where Ouissam comes from – after a decade in Asia, he’s now something of a regional entity that has managed to change the dance music scene wherever he has laid down roots. His approach to a dance floor is as simple as it is intuitive and elegant: nothing that can make a room shudder with joy is barred from his selections. As the founder of Hong Kong’s Cliche Records, he was one of the first in that city to cultivate a disco-house-techno synthesis that shifted the understanding of what could be danced to there. He went on to create the magnetic Homesick and Fragrant Harbour labels, before suddenly setting his sights on Hanoi in Vietnam, where he has established the dance mecca Savage where he runs the monthly queer night Snug. And on top of all that, he found time to curate the coveted Equation festival, now entering its second year..

  • Palms Trax

Palms Trax is a producer and Dj based in Berlin, Germany. His first record was released in October of 2013 on London-based imprint Lobster Theremin. For aspiring DJs and producers, or indeed anyone who appreciates a good story, the genesis of Palms Trax couldn’t have read any dreamier. You know the one; curious yet naive son of the English Riviera lands a job at one of London’s leading record stores and discovers the masters of Chicago house and Detroit techno. Later, stumbling around Berlin, his primitive attempts to emulate the sound of his newfound heroes accidentally land him a bona fide dance floor hit. A gradual but steady stream of EPs courtesy of Dutch dance music powerhouse Dekmantel have allowed his productions to blossom in richer, smoother directions. On 2015’s ‘In Gold’ EP, and throughout the following year’s ‘High Point on Low Ground’, halcyon hallmarks of house - euphoric piano lines, bubbling acid and luminescent keys - are shot through with Donaldson’s tough, distinctive percussion. It’s that same connection with Dekmantel that has encouraged Donaldson to quickly, impressively evolve as a DJ of some distinctive taste and talent. A memorable performance at Dekmantel’s flagship Amsterdam festival in 2015 captured open hearts, lost minds and aching feet. Since then, the sound of Palms Trax has been a fixture on their enormous main stage, drifting seamlessly between vintage house, esoteric disco and the various shades of a bubbling UK underground he has helped define. Occasional back-to-back performances with the likes of Hunee, Young Marco, Antal and Midland, all DJs regularly credited for their breadth of musical knowledge and sheer versatility, speak volumes for Donaldson’s DJing nous, which has lead him on an international trail; from South America to Australia, and from Panorama Bar to Concrete, Contact, De School, and Lux. Donaldson has also-amassed a patient, open-minded following with his cult monthly radio show, the decidedly less-than-culinary ‘Cooking with Palms Trax’, broadcast on Berlin Community Radio since 2015. On each show, Donaldson takes a deep, vinyl-led drive into his adopted history, fostering a level of trust and shared curiosity that has allowed him to helm all-night sets under the ‘Cooking with Palms Trax’ moniker. Into 2018, he’ll be holding down residencies in Boston, Glasgow and Bordeaux, as well as inviting like-minded DJs into his metaphorical kitchen, throughout a series of self-curated evenings into early mornings of music.

While working at OYE Records, she began her life as a DJ between a tireless party scene by night and days immersed in music. Like liquid mercury in a petri dish—slick, supple, and playfully disobedient—Rhyw’s music dazzles as it defies expectation. The Welsh-Greek artist cut his teeth as one half of Cassegrain and has been finding new paths for his mutant sound ever since, releasing on Fever AM, the imprint he set up with Mor Elian in 2017, as well as labels like Avian and Modeselektor’s SSPB. In the studio or behind the decks, he brilliantly fuses different strains of ultra-modern techno and broken beat: eyes-down minimal lights up with modular sass, choppy kicks flirt with rolling grooves, and sharp sound design slices through earthy subs. It’s the kind of amphibious sound that can slip into otherworldly spaces while never truly leaving the dance floor. Rhyw turned heads with the heavyweight two-tracker ‘Biggest Bully’ in 2019, earning himself sets at Berghain, Berlin Atonal, Boiler Room Tokyo and Freerotation amongst others. Online and on-air, he’s guested on Hessle Audio’s Rinse FM show and Mixmag’s ‘In Session’ mix series, and contributed podcasts to Crack and FACT. Even when they leave the gate at full pelt, these sets showcase Rhyw’s subtle sense of intricacy, balancing airy atmospheres against tougher tackle. But whatever the energy level, there’s always an alien presence in Rhyw’s sound—a shapeshifter whose twin motives are to bewitch and disorientate the listener.

̸BIOGRAPHY S-Candalo is a DJ duo made up of Tania and Dominik Humeres-Correa (THC & DHC). They are siblings, and in their sets, one can hear alongside a deep honour for the oldschool sound a kind of telepathic link that siblings share. Raised in Germany with Colombian and Chilean roots, they are well-acquainted with the act and mindset of mixing (tracks, attitudes, languages) and keeping one’s back to another’s back. In the past years the siblings have engaged in fields ranging from music management to fashion and in their blends there is also a certain synthesis of passion and defined taste that speaks, simply, to fierceness. Fearsomeness, too – their sound is burning and relentless with seductive vocal samples, loopy synths, and bright, punchy kicks. On their recent mixes for platforms such as MARICAS, Radiant Love, Rinse FM, and HÖR, obtuse melodies from the 90s blend with sassy club bangers, then into polyrhythmic grooves, and so on. Their sound is overflowing with the queen and the queer, an energy they also direct into Venus Vessels, a non-profit music collective hosting parties and programming a residency on radio8000. With upcoming gigs this year in London, Amsterdam, Athens and Berlin, expect scandals and heated speakers from city to city.

In line with his goals of strengthening the Asian dance scene and building a healthy ecosystem through Sivilian Affairs, recent bookings for their parties include Baldo (Subwax) from Barcelona, Dr Yez (Tantra) from Bali, Jesse You (Walls & Pals) from Seoul, Jonnyvicious (Shagrilla) from Kuala Lumpur, Manikk (Savage) from Hanoi, Roshan (SaturdaySelects) from Kuala Lumpur, and Dexter Colt, Leland, Mako, Ramesh K, and The Weatherman from Singapore. Citing seminal American house music duo Mood II Swing as an early musical influence, Sivanesh's diverse playlists are held together by equal amounts of groove and soul. His roots will always be house, but being open-minded and anchored in the belief that only quality matters and genres do not, he is always aware of what the room he is playing for needs. That may be his best trait. It is this versatility that enables him to share the stage with some of the finest selectors in the world, such as Chloe (Bpitch), Chaos In The CBD (In Dust We Trust), d’Julz (Bass Culture), Jasper James (Optimo Trax), Rampa (Keinemusik), and more, in the last few months. More recently, he was selected by Cercle to warm up for their debut Asia show with The Martinez Brothers in November 2019, and then ended the year with a well-received DJ set at the Rainforest Pavilion at the Wonderfruit festival in Thailand. He might surprise you with a track from an unexpected corner, but that's exactly what he intends to do.

  • Space Afrika

̸BIOGRAPHY Space Afrika With their slow-stepping, spacious urban dubscapes, Space Afrika harness ambient, Detroit techno and shades of early nineties Sheffield with a fresh and open approach to composition — this is dub techno stripped-down, sealed in a time capsule and sent back from the near future. Driving, echo-laden deep beats form the bed for a heavily subaquatic sound palette with undercurrents of cybernetic dread. Friends for almost 2 decades, the two Joshuas formed Space Afrika after years of listening to music together, sequestered by harsh Northern winters. Heavily inspired by the industrial architecture of Northwest England and notions of travel, their sonic framework evokes images of rust and disintegrating concrete, and sensations of movement and redemption — exuding a distorted analogue soul offering escape into their overcast skies. Closely associated with Brighton/London label, Where to Now?, who slink along a vintage axis of post-punk, On-U Sound, minimal and no wave influences, Space Afrika's diverse and creative radio shows (notably their residencies on NTS and Reform Radio) also display a breadth of curiosities in experimental and avant-garde music, old and new.

̸BIOGRAPHY TAAHLIAH is an artist, performer and DJ based in Glasgow, Scotland and London, England. TAAHLIAH is a DJ & Producer from Glasgow. After making her name in the underground queer club scenes of Berlin & Glasgow as a DJ and remixer, she took stage as a producer in 2021 when she started releasing on London label untitled (recs).
Her debut-EP "Angelica" (out May 28th) brings together TAAHLIAH's expansive production skills and range of influences, moving effortlessly between squeaky-clean hyperpop textures (Brave, Freefalling) and the jacking hard- dance sounds (FMH, Bourgeoisie, Transdimensional) which defined her much lauded Boiler Room debut earlier this year.
Throughout Angelica, the producer details a range of autobiographical experiences that have come to shape her as a person and an artist: from coming to terms with being trans (Brave), to coming from a working class background (Bourgeoisie); from breaking up (Tears) to falling in love (Freefalling). Always, as TAAHLIAH seeks to represent and bring visibility to her community, she invariably ends up conveying universal messages of power, acceptance, bravery and euphoric fun.
TAAHLIAH has placed herself at the centre of a new generation of electronic producers revitalising both Dance & Pop music. She has shared stages with SOPHIE, LSDXOXO, 100 Gecs, A.G Cook & Eris Drew amongst others.
She is the first black trans artist to be nominated at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards, and the first artist to ever be nominated and win in two categories in the same year.

  • Vince_Leo Küchle

vince alias Leo Küchler is one of those restless souls who blazes bright in times depicted by a constant overdrive of pragmatism and functionality. This young, passionate and rebellious boy challenges mediocrity by always making the effort to walk the extra mile in everything he approaches. No wonder, his DJ sets will take you on a ride, far from jumping on an express train, throughout the mysterious jungles dance music culture has to offer. Though always having an eye for the dancer, he still makes use of the spectrum made up of disco, house, techno and even pop from left to right and everything in between. You might call it wild style, he nonetheless manages to combine everything, track by track, soulfully and gently into an exciting and enthralling story, that will catch your breath and suck you into his very own definition of a perfect night out. “What you give is what you get”, they say, and in Leo’s case this has proven to be true again. In his former hometown Munich, he stood out by his efforts to fight for realness and an awareness of the past and present, thereby defining the very future of the culture he invests in with all he has got. After his long-time residency night “Vicious Circle”, formerly based in the once notorious Bob Beaman club, he and his colleagues decided to explore new territory with Blitz Music Club, where he holds a residency in, without any doubt, one of the most ambitious clubs in Europe. After moving to Vienna, Leo hesitantly got involved in the local scene. But becoming part of the Lighthouse Festival family (former crew of renowned club Pratersauna) definitely set the ball rolling for him. • Zen Zero

̸BIOGRAPHY Technology, Aliens, Detroit Hailing from the Rust Belt suburbs of Detroit, Chris Macom, aka Zen Zero, began his music journey through love of computers. Soon he was experimenting with building computers, exploring audio programs, and connecting random home audio equipment to his PC. Chris had early exposure to hip-hop and dance music from neighborhood friends, and DJs on local Detroit radio shows that would draw him to DJing as a teenager. Coming of age in the burgeoning Detroit rave scene of the late-90s, Chris was exposed to underground house and techno. Playing house parties, dances, and graduations allowed him to hone his DJ skills and nuances of playing for a crowd. Hours on his computer were spent learning the bare bones of audio production, and burning bootleg CDs of DJ mixes to fund his ever growing record collection. After high school, Chris started a record label and makeshift studio with a tight knit group of friends in a dilapidated ice cream truck warehouse. “Hodges” as it became known, was the home base for a stream of parties, a record label, and hours spent in the studio. Here, Chris learned proper recording and mixing from a close friend and business partner. At the same time, Chirs found himself playing an ever expanding amount of DJ gigs around Detroit, as well as serving as a DJ and hype man for local hip hop emcees. With the Detroit rave scene taking a pause in the early 2000s,Chris and his longtime friend started the first Detroit Techno blog and podcast to fill the void and keep themselves sane. During a dry period in Detroit party culture, they used this format to promote events around the city, promote new releases/artists, and interviewed increasingly bigger DJs. At one point it was one of the Top 10 Techno blogs in the world, featuring DJs such as the Detroit Techno Militia crew, Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale, and Dave Clarke. Eventually, being allowed Press access to the Movement festival allowed them to network further in the electronic music community. From here, Chris’s DJ career took off, and you could find him playing at Detroit dance clubs like TV Lounge, The Works, Grasshopper Underground, as well as Ann Arbor's famous Necto Lounge, playing with DJ’s T-1000, Delano Smith, Araab Muzik, Jay Daniel, Monty Luke, Todd Osborn, Tadd Mullinex, DJ Holographic, DJ Minx, and Norm Talley. Recently, Chris formed 5th DImension Detroit with some like minded DJs that encompasses a record label, series of parties, and a crew of DJs. 5th Dimension has thrown parties at Detroit hotspots like Marble Bar, Tangent Gallery, The High Dive, and The Magic Stick, as well as pop up events in Detroit’s Eastern Market and on the Riverfront. Chris has shared the stage with artists like Scan 7, Maceo Plex, Luke Hess, Boo Williams, Hiroko Yamamura, Derrick Carter, Dez Andres, Derek Plaislaiko, and Justin Cudmore. The 5th Dimension label has released Chris’s biggest track to date “Aliens In My Room”, getting international play and featured on the HATE youtube channel. They also recently released “Traveler’s Compilation”, reaching #1 album release on Beatport in the Techno Raw/Deep/Hypnotic genre, with his single “Next Train to Neptune” reaching respectively at #9 in the genre. Chris is currently in the Studio working on his next album and music video that he hopes will take him to an even higher level. As his name implies, he tries to traverse the Techno landscape with Zen and Stoic philosophies in an attempt to live clear minded and do what comes natural. His music is heavily inspired by nature and a love for the Michigan’s outdoors and he hopes to integrate that within his being to redefine Americana from a sonic perspective, and inspire listeners to unlock their own natural talents to achieve greatness. ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY Aliens In My Room - 5th Dimension Next Train to Neptune - 5th Dimension Digital Death Stream EP - 5th Dimension

  • µ-Ziq

̸BIOGRAPHY Michael Paradinas (born 1971) records primarily under the name µ-Ziq (pronounced "music") in addition to a large number of aliases. He runs the british electronic label Planet Mu and first emerged on Rephlex in 1993 with the album 'Tango N'Vectif' and.. Mike Paradinas has become one of the very few artists working with electronics to produce a recognisable amd personalised sound while at the same time mixing far-reaching experimentalism with accessibility through infectious melodies and rhythms. Achieving healthy record sales and staying true to the pioneering spirit of the underground is no mean feat. Hailing from Raynes Park, South West London, Paradinas began operating under the name µ-Ziq whilst studying for a degree in Architecture at Kingston University in 1991. he eventually left before completing the course, partially due to a lack of interest, but more importantly to concentrate all efforts towards his music on a full time basis. Early recordingsfirst emerged on the Rephlex label with the now classic 'Tango N'Vectif' in 1993, followed a few months later by a second, 'Bluff Limbo' in 1994 - on it's initial promo run of 1000 copies, it rapidly gained a noteriety out of all proportion to it's availability, even entering the NME top 50 albums of that year. 'Tango...' meanwhile has gone on to sell in excess of 40,000 copies. In March 1995, Mike signed to Virgin and released the 'Salsa With Mesquite' ep and the album 'In Pine Effect' ("the difference is that where the Aphex Twin's topographical doodles suggest undiscovered, unpeopled planets, µ-ZIq's approach is a good deal more emotional, attempting to tap into the inner, surfing the soul... This is 'techno' elevated above the mere functionalism of the dancefloor, lighting fires in the heart and painting pictures for the mind's eye." - Melody Maker). This year also saw the genesis of 'Jake Slazenger', one of Mike's numerous pseudonyms with the acclaimed future-past casio jazz-funk of the 'Makesaracket' album on Clear. 1996 saw Paradinas join forces with Richard James for Aphex's one and only collaboration album 'Mike and Rich' on Rephlex; it was also the year that Mike signed to Warp for his second Jake Slazenger album and indie chart number 1: 'Das Ist Ein Groovy Beat, Ja'. May 1997 saw the release of 'Lunatic Harness', his third album proper, which saw µ-Ziq introducing more aspects of jungle style programming into his music (previously showcased on the 'Urmur Bile Trax' series). This time he was mixing elements of twisted hip hop, carnivalesque synths, toy-town world music and - what became known as - 'drill & bass' with his own inimitable style. Though he may incorporate these elements in his music, Mike never lets these influences smother a track entirely, instead mixing it all up into an end result that is both innovative and new. At 50,000 worldwide sales & counting, album of the week in both NME and Melody Maker, many others thought so too. 20 years ago Mike launched his own independent record label 'Planet Mu' releasing material by Venetian Snares, Remarc, Vex'd, Machinedrum, Kuedo & Jlin amongst many many others, including some of his own projects 'Kid Spatula' & the 'Slag Boom Van Loon' collaborations with Jochem Paap (aka Speedy J). Now over 350 releases old, Planet Mu has become one of the mainstays of the electronic music scene along with Ninjatune and Warp records, gaining more respect with every year that passes. In July '99 Mike released 'Royal Astronomy' on Virgin Records' 'Hut Recordings' subsiduary. Musically a sizeable shift from 'Lunatic Harness', the album focused more on his orchestral leanings (which were already present on 'In Pine Effect') and he was further inspired (as support act on her 1998 Homogenic tour) by Björk's use of live string sections in her shows. The album revealed a more poppy and melodic side to Paradinas than on previous occasions, while taking care not to discard any of the innovative programming and cutting edge beats that he'd become renowned for. The album was preceded by aa single 'The Fear', an infeciously haunting vocal track with pastoral strings underpinned by a Northern Soul mid-tempo shuffler rhythm, displayting the versatile nature of Paradinas' output. In 2003 Paradinas' Planet Mu label released one of their most successful records to date: 'Bilious Paths', Mike's 10th album as µ-Ziq. 12 tracks of hard cut-up breaks and electronics, distorted washes of melodic detrius and occasional serene ambience. Much of the album charted new territory for Paradinas, like the opening track 'Johnny Maastricht' which was inspired by the then new and emerging Garage sounds which would eventually coelesce into Dubstep and Grime, but with Mike's own trademark melodic sensibilities taking the place of the bass and the 'Grape Nut Beats' duo of tracks which mixed 6/8 gabber/tekno, old skool rave and nu-skool breaks to devestating effect. 'On/Off featured the vocal 'talents' of Ghostly's Mike Dykehouse (who has also released on Planet Mu) embellishing a dirty-bass electro anthem about panties. 'Bilious Paths' has gone on to sell over fifteen thousand copies worldwide. ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY As µ-Ziq Albums Tango n' Vectif (1993) Bluff Limbo (1994) µ-Ziq Vs The Auteurs(1994) In Pine Effect (1995) Lunatic Harness (1997) Royal Astronomy (1999) Bilious Paths (2003) Duntisbourne Abbots Soulmate Devastation Technique (2007) Chewed Corners (2013) XTLP (2015) EPs Phi*1700 (U/V) (1994) Salsa with Mesquite (1995) Urmur Bile Trax Volume 1 & 2 (1997) My Little Beautiful (1997) Brace Yourself (1998) The Fear (1999) Ease Up (2005) XTEP (2013) Rediffusion (2014) As Tusken Raiders / Rude Ass Tinker Bantha Trax (1995) Bantha Trax Vol. 2 (1999) The Motorbike Track (1999) Imperial Break/Silk Ties (2001) As Jake Slazenger Makesaracket (1995) Megaphonk (1995) Nautilus (1996) Das Ist Ein Groovybeat, Ja (1996) Pewter Dragon (2006) As Kid Spatula Spatula Freak (1995) Full Sunken Breaks (2000) Meast (2004) As Gary Moscheles Shaped to Make Your Life Easier (1996) Collaborations Diesel M (with Marco Jerrentrup) M for Multiple (1993) Mike & Rich (with Richard D.
