Considering his meteoric rise to fame, it would be easy to stereotype Black Coffee as just another black diamond, a BEE beat magnet out to mine the insatiable upwardly mobile urban house-party market. But as he proved on his South African Music Award-winning album Home Brewed, this DJ and producer defies convention. Sidestepping Afro-house clichés and stage-managed highs in favour of restrained sophistication, Black Coffee’s penchant is for true Afropolitan house: home-brewed but trendsetting, fashion-conscious and future-focused. Expect almost sculptural balance and beauty.

Born in Istanbul and classically trained, our protagonist became interested in club culture while studying in Boston and wanted to get into the booth to create musical journeys of her own, where genres merge into interrelated sounds and Carlita's diverse background shines through in all its multi-faceted splendour.

French dance music producer, Quentin Dombres or professionally known as Dombresky has been producing music for nearly a decade and a half now. It took years for Dombresky to find his way out of local markets in France and onto the global level but that breakthrough occurred when he produced an official remix for A-Trak’s “We All Fall Down”. From there, Dombresky’s career started to explode; connecting the dots with fellow Frenchman Tchami. The two created “Freakin” which debuted on Tchami’s EP. With that success, the two would collaborate again, when Dombresky released singles “Wait” and “Utopia” on Tchami’s label ‘Confession’.

There's no such thing as an overnight success, but great ideas do strike like lightning. Miami-based DJ and producer Fiin lives both these truths, proving his talent while earning an international reputation through a relentless dedication to the craft, the culture, and his city. He wasn't raised in a musical household. He met his mentor, DJ Diego Harispe, who schooled him on '70s NYC disco, Frankie Knuckles, Larry Lavan, and beyond. He learned to respect his elders and understand the context of every innovation. Armed with education and passion as ever, he earned his stripes as the youngest resident of Heart Nightclub and played alongside the best world-class DJs.

Gerd Janson runs the Running Back label, and DJs around the world under the name Gerd Janson. Gerd Janson is running the German label Running Back together with Thorsten Scheu (aka Glance). As many kids who have grown up in the early 90s in the South West of Germany, Gerd Janson was a regular guest at Mannheim’s legendary Milk Club. Although this venue was most popular for putting jungle on the map in Germany, Gerd always used to wait eagerly for the early morning hours when the pace slowed down and US styled house was the ruling sound. In the following years, his deep love for house and disco music was fed in Frankfurt’s Wild Pitch Club by Heiko MSO and Ata. In 1998, Gerd Janson finally had his first DJ residency at Darmstadt’s Café Kesselhaus.

Greg Jones is the artist behind the enigmatic G JONES moniker. A lauded master of electronic music production and highly sought after performer, G JONES is a collaborator of legendary artists such as Amon Tobin, Eprom, and DJ Shadow, who called Jones “the most gifted Ableton beatmaker I’ve ever seen.” Rolling Stone touted him as a “studio wizard.” Billboard Magazine had this to say about his album’s first single, UNDERSTANDING THE POSSIBILITY: "That’s what listening to G Jones will do. It’s a mental minefield of sudden drops and stutters, bass lines that open holes under your feet and send you shooting sideways to some warped mystery land."

Throughout his rise to become both a foundation and a founding father of the underground house scene, the name Hernán Cattáneo has become synonymous with dedication, passion and an unwavering commitment to championing a unique quality of music that is hard to define, but instantly recognisable as his signature sound. And on that pernicious Venom that pollutes GREY Area from the very core, she concludes that some people will never acknowledge her as the best just because she’s got ovaries. Maya Jane Coles is a highly productive producer, songwriter, and DJ from London. Throughout her career, she has crafted intricate, personality-driven tech-house tracks in addition to dubstep and garage (primarily as Nocturnal Sunshine). First appearing with a series of well-received club EPs in 2008, her releases since 2010's Humming Bird EP have increasingly focused on her vocals and songwriting skills. Comfort, her 2013 debut full-length, effortlessly blended downbeat house and pop, and her 2017 double album Take Flight contained one disc focusing on downtempo songs, and another on club tracks. 2019's Full Circle (as Nocturnal Sunshine) branched out further, incorporating trap and drum'n'bass. ~ AllMusic

Mira is that rare kind of DJ whose music can immediately transport you into her world - a midnight circus in Berlin, where time loses all definition and anything becomes possible. Born in East Germany to a renowned photographer and a classical musician, she began DJing in 1996 and quickly became part of the growing underground techno scene around Leipzig and Halle/Saale. Her dedication to her craft and natural talent swiftly paid off with a series of rapid successes, leading her to substantially shape the electronic music scene of Eastern Germany from that point on. In 2006, Mira moved to Berlin, Europe’s capital of electronic music, where she found her musical home at the legendary Bar25. Situated on the banks of the river Spree with parties that lasted into the middle of the week, Bar25 was the embodiment of Berlin’s club scene in the 2000s. In the company of notable artists such as Nu, Acid Pauli, Feathered Sun and Christopher Schwarzwälder, a musical language was being formed that looked past the minimal trends of the time towards a more nuanced, organic musical language.

To many that might sound like two very different aspects of modern sound culture - which in turn makes Monolink a fascinating character, because he's both rolled into one. His style seamlessly connects the narrative structure of a song with the compelling forward thrust of electronic rhythms. Guitar chords merge into synthetic pad sounds, hypnotic bass vibrations meet emotional vocal parts, passionate physicality meets sublime stimulation for the mind.

Already one of the best-known eastern European techno/house DJs, Nastia’s star is firmly in the ascendancy globally. Her style is to an extent adaptable but she has a sound that is unmistakably her own. The last three years have been a whirlwind of gigs for Nastia. Her twilight techno, melancholic minimal, stripped-down ghetto funk and sustained house have been wowing crowds all around the world. Through his recordings, epic-length DJ sets, dozens of commercial mix albums, and label operations, Sven Väth is one German trance and techno's most popular proponents. Originally the lead singer of a dance-pop group named OFF, Väth hit the big time in 1986 when OFF's "Electrica Salsa (Baba Baba)" became a number three pop hit in their native country. The band later disintegrated, leaving Väth free to pursue his interest in the hard trance underground of Frankfurt. An Accident in ParadiseVäth became a DJ of note for his marathon sets, which sometimes approached 24 hours, and his 1992 co-founding of Harthouse Records. His own releases on the label included those by Barbarella, Astral Pilot, and Metal Masters with the help of his partner, Ralf Hildenbeutel. Blessed with an agreement connecting Harthouse and its subsidiaries to the American major label Warner Bros., Väth released Accident in Paradise, again with contributions from Hildenbeutel, as his first solo album.

The Glitch Mob – the Los Angeles-based trio comprising Justin Boreta, Ed Ma, and Joshua Mayer – continues their forward movement into 2014. Boreta, edIT, and Ooah came together around 2006, passing through various members until settling on this core trio of musicians. Together, they combined their different skills and aesthetics into the compellingly collaged whole that has become one of the most beloved live electronic acts, and distinctive recording artists, working today.

First debuting in 2014, Los Angeles bass producer Tsuruda is a classically trained musician who blends experimental hip-hop with avant-garde electronics. Today, he stands at the upper echelon of bass music culture with one of the most impressive bodies of work in independent electronic music. Tsuruda has self-released four full-length projects — ‘drumsand,’ ‘madness,’ ‘rawflavor’ and ‘RIP’ — in addition to his two-part compilation series, ‘Internet Slaps Vol. 1’ and ‘Internet Slaps Vol. 2.’ His discography includes singles on labels like Team Supreme, Darker Than Wax and 1985 Music, plus remixes for Noisia, The Glitch Mob and more.

Featuring guttural bass lines and a vivacious swagger, VCTRE hones in on the textures and boisterous musical attitude that has brought him a growing acclaim across the realm of low-end music.

Otto Yliperttula (born October 8, 1986), known professionally by his stage name, Yotto, is a Finnish DJ, songwriter, and record producer. Currently residing in Helsinki, Finland, the 30-year-old is signed to English deep house label, Anjunadeep. Yotto came to fruition with a string of remixes and originals that caught the ear of Anjunadeep label boss, James Grant. Deemed “a man of many sounds” by Billboard and “an experimental house talent” by Dancing Astronaut, he produces a number of styles within the house music genre and sometimes other forms of electronic music. As well as his own solo releases, Yliperttula has worked alongside other DJs & producers such as Coldplay, Rüfüs, Above & Beyond, Lane 8, and Super8 & Tab. A five track EP titled ‘Stars’ was released in 2013 on The Shapeshifters Nocturnal Groove imprint by Otto and Karolus Viitala under the moniker Something Good.
