Grey Area Productions is a full-service event promotions and production company. We strive to bring great national artists to the greater Pittsburgh area, as well as working with high-quality local acts to put them in front of audiences that will enjoy their music. We handle every aspect of shows from beginning to end, including booking, advertising and promotions, and day-of-show production and management. Our promotional efforts involve a robust street team, in-house graphic design, and a strong social media presence.
We are proud to have a huge promo team of live music fans that help us to spread the word about our shows and other great events. In addition to this, we also handle artist management for select artists.
Since 2009, Grey Area Productions has been the in-house talent buyer for the Rex Theater in Pittsburgh's historic South Side. We immediately upgraded the venue with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, which have drastically improved the concert experience for our guests and re-established the Rex as a destination for live music. We also book Thunderbird Cafe, which is a smaller venue with great sound and a great vibe that we use for artist development and smaller acts.
In 2012, Grey Area Productions took over facility management for the Rex Theater. This has included bringing in new staff with an improved customer service philosophy, renovating the historic building's marquee, creating and updating venue policies, adding a wide array of craft beers, updating the liquor selection, constructing a new bar in the auditorium, and improving the all ages separation so that everyone can enjoy the show.
In 2011-2014, Grey Area handled the talent buying for the Flood City Music Festival in Johnstown, PA We have had the honor of bringing in artists such as Gregg Allman, Dr. John, Trombone Shorty, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Del McCoury, Greensky Bluegrass, JJ Grey & MoFro, Anders Osborne, George Porter Jr. and many more over those four years for a family friendly music festival that all can enjoy.
In 2015 and beyond, Grey Area Productions handles the talent buying for the Feastival Food, Music, and Art Festival in McKees Rocks, PA. For 2015 we had Robert Randolph & The Family Band and Big Sam's Funky Nation in addition to several talented local artist. Over 3000 people attended this special one day event.
In 2016, Grey Area Productions officially opened our Artist Management division. We are handling artist management and booking for classically trained pianist Holly Bowling.
