As one of the UK’s best-loved selectors Skream has enjoyed the kind of consistency most DJs and producers can only dream of. His passion for collecting and playing music is unrelenting; disco, house, techno and everything in between… it runs deep into his core and he lives it every single day. Still only in his early thirties, Skream has achieved more in the last 15 years than most people do in a lifetime, yet his hunger and enthusiasm is akin to that of a man who is only just getting started. As DJ Awards’ 2016 Electronic Live Performer, Matador is a revolutionary live artist with a shining reputation for versatility, whilst never compromising on quality.       Minus are proud to present the newest member of the family, in the form of Matador. In the past four years Gavin Lynch’s sounds have found a home on Perc Trax and Cocoon, plus most recently on Plus 8 , where Richie Hawtin recently introduced the young Dubliner ahead of his first Minus event (at Berlin’s Watergate, joining the Minus team for the official Fly Bermuda after party), with his stellar remix of Bryan Zentz’s D-Clash. After that introductory taste, Matador now takes the bull by the horns for his first full EP for Minus, exploring the twisted but organic techno sound he’s best known for.,Hawtin fans will recognise the EP’s title track instantly as a jewel in the crown of his recent Boiler Room set in Amsterdam, for the hugely influential internet broadcast’s Minus showcase from ADE 2011. All bleeping soft focus melody lines and cantering kicks, it’s a slowly building bomb.,Elsewhere there is shimmying, suggestive minimal coated in warm tape hiss on ‘Mambo’ and brooding, heavily-weighted backroom sounds speckled with rasping, rising synth lines and glistening percussion on ‘Hitbox.’,‘Nomans Land’ is a bouncy, with wispy hi-hat ringlets and a buried-in-the-mix, undecipherable vocal running through it. The little details around the edges are what bring the groove alive.       London-based producer/DJ Skream (Ollie Jones) played a vital role in the development and popularity of dubstep during the 2000s. Following early collaborations with fellow genre pioneers Benga and Loefah, he released one of dubstep's most easily recognizable tracks, "Midnight Request Line," in 2005. His tracks and remixes helped shift the genre from being a darker, more minimalist form of club music to something more melodic and accessible, paving the way for its mainstream popularity by the beginning of the 2010s. Skream's biggest commercial success was his involvement as part of dubstep supergroup Magnetic Man (with Benga and Artwork), whose self-titled debut album reached number one on the U.K. dance chart. However, while primarily associated with dubstep, Skream has never limited himself to one genre, and much of his work since the mid-2010s has explored house and techno. ~ AllMusic
