AgeHa will close its doors in January 2022 after 20 years of operation.
Residing in Usen Studio Coast, Shin-Kiba is one of the largest weekend nightclubs in Japan. AgeHa, who has been operating at the event space since 2002, will be closing its doors for good on January 30th, 2022.
On August 12th 2021, Usen Studio Coast released a statement on social media regarding the closure of AgeHa. In the statement, they elaborated that the nightclub’s lease contract with the venue had expired.
“For the past 20 years, “ageHa” has been patronized by many customers and artists from Japan and abroad with its one-of-a-kind location and facilities, and has been visited by more than 3 million people in total.
“Although our activities at ‘STUDIO COAST’ will be coming to an end, we will continue to use our unique brand of ‘ageHa’ to offer new events and projects both domestically and internationally, regardless of location, in order to inspire you.” says Studio Coast’s official media statement.
Since the coronavirus pandemic, many event venues across the globe have been forced to close down due to insufficient funds. Without events, many event spaces have been struggling to survive, like Malaysia’s 'fono' located in Kuala Lumpur. It is a relief to know that not all event spaces like ageHa are closing down due to the pandemic. In fact, new nightclubs like China’s 'Heim’ have been springing up in number since the past year amidst the global pandemic. While things have been bleak for a long time, event organisers like ageHa isn’t giving up on its quest to keep the party going.
The weekend nightclub announced in their press release that they will be organizing their 19th-anniversary party in November 2021, their final countdown party from December 31st, 2021, memorial parties during their final month with Studio Coast, and their 'FINAL WEEKEND' party scheduled to be held on January 28th, 2022 (Friday) and January 30th, 2022 (Saturday).
