Missed traveling to your favourite festivals? Monegros will be creating a radical music experience where you can dance from dawn til dusk and dawn again in a plane.
The Monegros Desert Festival was started in 1994 under a different name, but the festival will be their first in five years. Slated to take place on 30 July 2022 in Spanish deserting Fraga, the stage will be set on a decommissioned A330 Airbus that can hold up to 1,000 people. The fuselage will be taken apart and converted into a stage and dance floor.
Named the Montegros 8.6 Airlines Experience, the flight will take off with over 80 artists on the line including names like Adam Beyer, Richard Hawtin, Amelie Lens, Solomun and Tale of Us. Hip-hop legend Wu-Tang Clan will headline the 20 hour long festival with their rap hits, with a healthy dose of subgenres with standout acts like Sub Focus, Basement Jaxx, Maceo Plex, Loco Dice, and Paul Kalkbrenner.
Tickets have not been released yet, although you can check back to their website for more details.
With such big acts and a small crowd, this festival will be the intimate affair that we need after such a long time without any live music. It’s definitely one for the books as the experience is one of the most ambitious and mind-blowing editions that the organizers have been working on, staying true to their mission of providing a radical audio-visual experience.
Before you start booking your 2022 flights for Spain, you can tune into their livestream Road To Monegros on 31 July 2021. Partnering up with beer brand 8.6, the livestream will be streaming right from the desert in the airbus itself to give you a little taste of the exclusive experience. The livestream details will be released on their Facebook event page.
The Monegros 8.6 Airlines Experience will happen on 30 July 2022, and ticket details will be released soon. Stay updated by following Monegros Festival on Instagram and Facebook.
