Since 2015, Taiwan has hosted Ultra Taiwan as a part of the Road to Ultra event concept which presents small(er)-scale editions of the mega festival flagship Ultra Miami, scattered throughout eastern countries such as India, Singapore, and Thailand. Organizers of Ultra Worldwide were forced to cancel the Miami and Abu Dhabi 2020 editions of the festival due to the virus. Back at the beginning of October, the festival announced that Tier 1 tickets were already sold out and have now gone on to sell out Tier 2. Those interested in buying a ticket can find Tier 3 and VIP tickets still available. Although it is unclear just how many tickets will be sold this year, in 2018, Ultra Taiwan welcomed over 50,000 partygoers at the festival.

Swedish powerhouse DJ Alesso will headline the event. Kayzo, Slander, and Vini Vici, along with three local DJs will round out the show. In addition to the performances, there will also be food vendors, interactive technology installations, and graffiti art.

At the brink of the announcement of COVID 19 as a global pandemic, Taiwan was extremely quick to react, sealing its borders to foreigners and transiters. As a result of their quick reaction, the country gained control of the spread of the virus and as of this date, there have only been 563 cases and 7 recorded deaths. Taiwan has since reopened its borders to national and international travel, with safety precautions and regulations in place. Foreigners, including the international DJs, will be subject to a 14-day quarantine upon their arrival in the island-state.

In less than two weeks’ time, Ultra Taiwan will become one of the first major electronic music festivals to take place despite a worldwide pandemic. On November 14th, 2020, the Daija Riverside Park in Taipei will host a one-day festival, welcoming top international and local artists.
