It has been a week since the nightclub events and festivals in England reopened. Festivals like Latitude Festival in Suffolk and Tramlines in Sheffield are proceeding as planned, and thousands of people have been flocking to events since the coronavirus legal restrictions were lifted on July 19th, 2021.
 

England is the first country in the United Kingdom to lift coronavirus restrictions, including social distancing requirements. According to a report by the BBC on July 12, it was confirmed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson that England will lift all restrictions beginning July 19. The Prime Minister had added that the government would continue to expect its people to wear face masks at all times, especially in crowded places such as public transport, to pave the way for a gradual return to offices and workplaces.
 

While social distancing is no longer needed, event organisers are advised to require attendees to provide COVID passports as proof that they have either been fully vaccinated, have a negative PCR or RTK test, or that they have obtained natural immunity from a recent infection. These proofs are accessible via the NHS app.
 

The UK has seen a decline in COVID cases in recent months. However, a surge in cases due to the Delta variant is making up almost 99% of all recent infections. Several parties have called out the lifting of restrictions as ‘immoral and unethical’.
