The COVID lockdown in Hong Kong has seen the end of many established clubs and restaurants, but Cassio has emerged even stronger, teasing their reopening with a new look as COVID restrictions loosen. Making use of the lockdown period as a break, Cassio has gone through an extensive facelift.

The redesign of Cassio Restaurant and Nightclub is entrusted to Parisian luxury design house Hervert Manufacturier. Creatively driven by Cedric Hervert, the nightclub will be transformed into a modern-day futuristic interpretation of The Great Gatsby to connect the elegant space with party vibes. And there is no better designer to take on this makeover than Hervert who has also been the creative brains behind DJ duo Daft Punk’s performances for over 15 years,  overseeing their album covers and stage designs including the the most memorable production of their 2014 Grammy’s performance.

The makeover will see the DJ booth reimagined as “a spaceship that landed on the dance floor”, with sleek walnut wood finishing, turquoise velvets, and hairline brass. The space will also have tables and seating around the dance floor, with a coveted VVIP table and a private, hidden bar which can only be accessed with a one-time password. The club is also decorated with art pieces from owner Gilbert Yeung personal collection of artworks from some of his favourite movies and musicians. 

If you’re in the mood for some good food, head out to the outdoor terrace for a lush paradise decked out in vintage furniture that Yeung has collected over the years for that comfy tropical-kitsch atmosphere. The menu is curated by Barrafina, a popular Michelin starred restaurant in London known for their tapas. Expect some of their classics like the Padron Peppers, Pan Con Tomate, Spanish Carabinero Prawn and Spanish Lamb Cutlets, alongside a short but sweet selection of Spanish wines.

When it was up and running in its heyday, Cassio has hosted names like Solomun, Bedoiun, Seth Troxler, and Blond:ish - just to name a few - at its decks. The music lineup runs from disco, 80s, tech house, well complemented by their selection of authentic Spanish tapas on the menu.
