Vol. 4 of FuFu Record’s Double Happiness series continues the compilation series’ releases of high-quality house. This time around, the album features nine artists from seven different countries.

Many of the tracks featured on the album stand out for the textures integrated into the rhythms. This is the case with the vocals in Maggie Tra’s “Da Leng,” for example. We Are Neurotic’s ”Perjamuan“ infuses the melody with a sense of storyline through its clever use of vocal samples. Mengzy’s “Into the Light” proves somewhere between house and DnB, proving a clever mixture of styles.

Stain’s “Cult of the Rabbit Monster” adds traditional Indian drumming to electronic beats for a somewhat experimental track without a clear high point or low point. Galcid’s “The Evil” distinguishes itself with an unusually long introductory section before the track makes its presence known to listeners.

Double Happiness proves not only highly international, in featuring a variety of Asian producers, but socially minded. The compilation aims to raise money for reforestation efforts with purchases. In this respect, Double Happiness is a satisfying addition to anyone’s library.
