Bali-based sustainability platform has reached out to techno DJ Peggy Gou for an exclusively chair inspired by circular design.

Affectionately called the Peggy Chair, the blue and white swirl-patterned chair is made from 20kg of plastic waste and the base also doubles up as a storage unit big enough for your vinyl collection. 

A true zero-waste product, the recycled plastic waste comes from the oceans and landfills and is made entirely by hand without the use of glue, nails or screws. The chair can also be recycled again to give a new lease of life. Peggy shared her excitement for the collaboration in a post, “I have been admiring their work to make our planet better, and it was exciting to create something beautiful and meaningful. Remember we are all part of the problem but can also be part of the solution.”

Space Available is led by former Potato Head creative Director Dan Mitchell, who has built a community of artists, environment advocates and designers to connect the dots between nature, design, culture and the future from Bali. Their shared goal of ‘Making Space For A Sustainable Future’ has been spearheading their efforts in radical recycling.

The Peggy Chair joins their homeware line, which includes a meditation chair made from plastic and bamboo, a chopping board, coaster and corkscrew. Other than products, the Space Available Instagram also has a slew of programming like talks, info, and videos about a greener future.

The Peggy Chair will be released on 28 June exclusively on Mr Porter and is limited to 20 pieces only. 20% of the profits will be donated to the Sumatran Orangutan Society in a pledge to plant 10,000 trees.
