about
Altern 8 is an Early UK Rave music band originally featuring Mark Archer and Chris Peat (Peat left the group in 1994) They were one of the UK rave bands of the early 1990s whose trademark was loud electronic tracks with a heavy bass line.
Altern 8 was formed in Stafford in 1990, as a side project to the already successful Nexus 21 (a name chosen because of its "futuristic House sound), when both members were 21. From the outset the band's objective was to develop their style which was heavily influenced by the musical elements of other Detroit House music artists Derrick May, Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson, as well as the Chicago sound of Phuture and early electronic heroes Kraftwerk.

Altern 8 tunes changed the world of Rave music, influencing many artists, with their mixture of the sounds of the Roland TB-303, 808 and 909 with breakbeats and familiar samples. At the time in the UK, outdoor rave events were legal, and Altern-8 had a reputation for turning up to play at major unofficial events. They helped to define harder House tracks relying more heavily on bass and volume. The use of more bass and eclectic noises gradually evolved Altern 8's music away from the earlier House music style. The duo, dressed in chemical warfare suits and dancing "like electrified monkeys", took part in a large number of live performances.

Notable Altern 8 tracks include "Activ 8", "E vapor 8", "Frequency", "Brutal 8 E", "Armageddon", "Move my body", "Hypnotic St8" and "Infiltrate 202". The band produced an album on the Network Records label in 1992 called Full On... Mask Hysteria. In 1992, Peat entered as a candidate for the Stafford constituency in the General Election representing the Hardcore (Altern8-ive) party. He polled 158 votes and finished in fourth place. In 1993, Archer began producing as Slo Moshun with Danny Taurus, responsible for Bells of N.Y., and Xen Mantra.

Altern 8's somewhat surreal image made for dramatic photographs and videos, but the same PR that helped to sell their music was eventually used against the rave movement, as the UK tabloid press published stories about the dangers of ecstasy, illegal raves and their impact on the countryside, resulting in the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.

  • 2 Bad Mice

Formed in 1991, 2 Bad Mice (the name originating from The Tale of 2 Bad Mice by Beatrix Potter) are widely credited as among the first U.K. hardcore acts to begin heavily incorporating breakbeats into the style. Consisting of members Sean O'Keeffe, Simon Colebrooke and producer Rob Playford (owner of Moving Shadow records), 2 Bad Mice were a staple on the early-to mid '90s hardcore scene and were instrumental in the music's steady mutation into jungle/drum'n'bass. The group's influential approach to sampled beats -- cutting them up into shards of rhythm and rearranging them in novel combinations (first appearing in mature form on the 1992 hit "Bombscare") is generally considered the blueprint from which jungle's characteristic manipulation of breaks was assembled. Although 2 Bad Mice for the most part stopped producing as the hardcore scene began to wane (Playford focusing his energy on Moving Shadow, now one of the most influential jungle labels), a best-of compilation of the group's work appeared on the American Sm:)e Communications label in 1995. These days Playford continues to work in production, while O'Keeffe, Colebrooke (and Paul Rhodes) currently DJ worldwide as 2 Bad Mice.

̸BIOGRAPHY Alicia is a DJ, producer and musician making deeply rhythmic, off-kilter dance music inspired by a love of club culture and the avant-garde. Alicia is a DJ, producer and co-founder of London-based club night Terra Obscura. Her unique combination of disparate styles is in no doubt owed to her background as a trained classical musician, as well as several years spent working behind the counter of the renowned Phonica Records. Her explorative and considered approach has seen her become a fixture on the London club scene, having played at the likes of Fabric, Phonox and Corsica Studios. Radio-wise, she has recently become a monthly resident on Rinse FM, as well as a regular on Kindred, a station that is fast becoming a creative hub for the city's underground scene. Beyond DJing, Alicia co-curates Terra Obscura, an experimental club night that looks to bridge the gap between ambient and dance music. Each event begins as a multi-sensory sound bath, allowing the crowd to become comfortable within the space, before the night gradually adjusts its aim toward the dancefloor. As a producer, Alicia’s music has seen release on the likes of Fever AM, the Berlin-based imprint run by Mor Elian and Rhyw. Her tracks build on the same detailed-driven, eclectic style as her sets, where as equal attention is placed on the mind as on the body. ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY In Clusters - Various Artists [FEVER AM] Cames Jook EP - Alicia & Goldefish [GOLDEFISH SELF-RELEASED] this is your brain on percs - Alicia [SELF-RELEASED]

̸BIOGRAPHY Amaliah is a London based DJ and producer with an eclectic taste in sound. She also runs her own label, 'Borne Fruits'. Borne Fruits boss and Rinse FM staple Amaliah commands the rave as one of London’s most exciting artists, hybridizing modern house and techno sounds with global club cuts rooted in a love of soundsystem culture. Emerging from a lineage of inspired ravers immersed in the wide-eyed rush of dubstep’s golden era at Plastic People and London’s vibrant soundsystem culture, Amaliah has transcended these proud influences to stake her own inimitable claim within her native city’s ever-crowded clubbing landscape. Her DJ sets are signified by a purposeful energy informed by years of raving, where she unleashes anything from prog-laden house cuts alongside tribal techno pumpers before diving headfirst into percussive bass warpers and beyond. Crucially, these eclectic club styles sing harmoniously under her exhilarating party stewardship, exposing years of record digging and a general obsession with electronic music. This is exhibited with an impressive archive of mixes for the likes of Boiler Room, Crack Magazine, Hör and a much-loved Rinse FM residency, while also in standout sets at venerable institutions Panorama Bar, De School and Fabric and at festivals like Glastonbury, Love International, Gala and Waterworks. 2019 saw Amaliah establish Borne Fruits, a party collective-turned-label where she made her production debut with Borne Fruits 001 before a further various artists compilation release Club Entry Vol. 1 and an 2 track edits single with venerable Derry hero Or:la titled Y2SLAY followed to great acclaim. More solo productions of hers have dropped since on Earful Of Wax and her own imprint, characterized by driving and playful percussion and an unadulterated raver’s energy built for maximum club impact. This exciting year ahead sees Amaliah joining the Hessle Audio trio at Glastonbury for their The Wow stage takeover, making her debut at Draaimolen Festival and hosting a boat party at Love International as well as a b2b with Aletha at the festival's The Garden Stage. Her label and own productions continue apace too, with a forthcoming bumper-packed Borne Fruits compilation and a highly anticipated full solo debut EP prepped for the end of this year; all of this proving her boundless talent reaching unfathomable heights over the coming months.

  • Amon Tobin

Brazilian-born artist Amon Tobin started off under the pseudonym of Cujo in the mid 1990s, then living in the UK. Cujo lived for a series of singles, EPs, and remixes, peaking with the album Adventures In Foam, all originally on NINEBARecords, and appe.. Musician, programmer, recording artist, beatsmith, dance floor commander, composer, sound designer, bad ass motherfucker. Amon Tobin is all of these things but most of all a forward thinker. Pushing forward and never looking back has always been his focus. This is what gets him up in the morning and what keeps him up late into the night. Amon Tobin never set out to be in the music industry. To him, music is an end in itself, not a path to commercial success. His own success is basically a by-product of his obsession, and remains something of a welcome mystery to him. The fact is, whether or not the world had ever heard of Amon Tobin, he would still be creating music. His life has been a long-term love affair with sound and rhythm, and a personal study of both. His work is a contribution to the evolution of sound in the spirit of the pioneers of electronic music. Amon has released a series of critically-acclaimed full length albums alongside a number of side projects varying from film scores to collaborations with artists ranging in classical music to hip hop, to all stylistic disciplines in between. Curiosity and a relentless drive to explore has lead Amon to various places in music, but the the real fruit of his labour are in the combined knowledge gained from these experiences of how music and sound work, and the passionate application of these principles to his own personal creations.

  • Danielle

̸BIOGRAPHY When a true selector takes flight, it sounds as though they re-mould each track to fit their specific vision. That’s exactly the effect Danielle has as a DJ, drawing across stylistic divides to create an instinctive groove which is all her own. On top of a foundational core of house, techno and electro she folds in myriad sonic wildcards to create dynamic, innovative variations on the club music experience. It’s logical her tastes would be omnivorous – Danielle spent 10 years working at fabled London record shop Phonica, one of the definitive destinations for dance music in the city, as well as a lengthy tenure at iconic Bristol store Idle Hands. Being across new releases week in, week out is one thing, but knowing how to stitch them together is another. From the breakthrough years perfecting the craft of a great warm-up to her long-standing residency on NTS Radio since 2017, Danielle shaped her approach to DJing from a free-thinking, fluid angle which still rings true now she’s more commonly found at the top of the bill. Danielle’s DJing has touched upon vital events, venues and locations around the world, from touring the US and playing flagship festivals like Glastonbury, Dimensions, Kala and Love International, to clubs like DC10, Fabric, The White Hotel, Corsica Studios and Tresor, holding down a residency season for Colour Factory in London and Left Bank in Tbilisi, and frequently picked for parties as revered as Timedance, Herrensauna and Livity Sound. In tandem, her skills have been recognised by key publications including Mixmag, DJ Mag (she was nominated as a best breakthrough DJ in 2020) and Resident Advisor. Beyond her own DJ work (she’s also a frequent contributor to many a mix series), Danielle also takes the time to impart her experience and knowledge to the next generation via her classes at Mix Nights – a non-profit organisation she helped set up seven years ago to encourage women and non-binary people to explore the art of DJing. Elsewhere, she works in an A&R and consultancy capacity for Team Love – a role which speaks to her consistent instinct for new developments within club music. Similarly, her label Soft Raw was founded in 2022 as a platform to champion the fresh talent she comes across in her position as a revered DJ. All these elements feed into the overall mission Danielle is on, pursuing her love of dynamic, physical soundsystem music with errant coding in its DNA. Keyed into new revolutions in the ever-evolving culture of the dancefloor, Danielle melds her impeccable taste together with fierce commitment and flair, delivering the impulse to move and presenting wholly new ideas to any crowd, any party, any time, anywhere.

  • Hannah Holland

̸BIOGRAPHY DJ.Producer.Label Boss Hannah Holland has played a pivotal role in London’s alternative and queer London club scene since the mid-noughties, arriving on dancefloors sharing electro tinged techno but equally inspired by the influential sounds of DnB and jungle heard at legendary parties such as Metalheadz, which she had frequented in her early teens. The cultural melting pot of London, community, musical exploration and the transcendent potential of dancefloor have always been her biggest inspiration. Having already been “borrowing” (and perhaps never since returning) Kraftwerk, Grace Jones and Talking Heads records from her parents, the influence of this metropolitan musical soup ensured that Holland emerged on the decks with a unique musical character and diverse taste, hallmarks of her sound that she has not lost since, whether undertaking residencies at iconic parties such as Trailer Trash, rocking Glastonbury’s hedonistic and spectacular NYC Downlow, or undertaking far-reaching marathon sets at Berlin’s Panorama Bar. Founded in 2009 as both a record label and party, Batty Bass began Holland’s outlet to explore the disparate strains of electro, acid, techno and house that drive her charismatic DJ sets forward, delivering party-friendly wax cuts from like-minded producers such as Josh Caffe, The Carry Nation, Mama, Lauren Flax and Justin Robertson’s Deadstock 33s. The imprint also provided Holland with a self-determined platform for her own music, memorably including ‘Paris’ Acid Ball’, an acid-tinged anthem that continues to summon voguing sweat in queer spaces worldwide. Holland scored another anthemic moment in 2017, in collaboration with longtime friend and creative partner Josh Caffe on ‘Fade To Me’, released on Crosstown Rebels, following the ‘Lush EP’ ft. IMMA/MESS, via seminal UK house imprint, Classic Music. Meanwhile, her powerful remixes of DJ Hell, Goldfrapp, The Knife, Planningtorock remain as forward-thinking and exciting as the acts themselves. In 2019, Batty Bass will release a wealth of new material from Holland herself, developed alongside her role writing, producing and playing with the dark-pop band, Black Gold Buffalo, who released their self-titled, long-awaited debut album in 2018. Capturing much of the same rave euphoria and timeless sound in her early work, Holland’s upcoming releases reflect the changes in the landscape of UK dance. Recent appearances have included Fabric for the extravagant Lovechild/Vogue Ball, alongside the notorious London underground parties Savage, Chapter 10 and Adonis. • Jimmy Edgar

Jimmy Edgar is a renaissance man of talent, ideas, and style beyond his years. At 29, the Berlin-based Detroit native with a mischievous mystique has been a prolific artist and musician for two thirds of his enchanted life. Sonically, he's fluent in a myriad of vernaculars, from "software as music" and glitchy underground Hip Hop to his signature glossy, erotically charged robot funk. Visually, he's established himself as an in-demand director, photographer, and multimedia artist with an impressive roster of videos, exhibits, and magazine work to his credit. Born in August of 1983, Edgar was playing drums, keyboards, and saxophone, as well as experimenting with sound manipulation by the time he was an adolescent. To complement to his technical prowess, Edgar learned to play piano and "feel the music" in Detroit's Baptist churches. By the time he was 15, with help from a promoter friend, Edgar was spinning alongside hometown legends Atkins, May, and Saunderson in local strip clubs and raves. His early exposure to music, technology, spirituality, and seduction informed Edgar's creative impulses profoundly, and their confluence has become a recurrent motif in his work. The tail end of his teen years was a whirlwind of creativity and milestones. In 2002, Germany's Poker Flat released Edgar's single "We Like You.” On the advice of then employee Travis "Machinedrum" Stewart, Merck released Edgar's My Mines I under one of Edgar's many personas, Kristuit Salu vs Morris Nightingale. My Mines I was hailed by XLR8R as "hip-hop beamed in to deep space." Under the alias Michaux, Edgar dabbled deeper in musical alchemy, releasing 2003's experimental IDM "virus as music" album, %20 on the Dutch label Audio.nl. Referring to the HTML code for an empty space, its title emphasized the impact of silence in music. The resulting frequencies were so intense that the label technically couldn't press it to vinyl, and it became their first and only CD release. Edgar famously signed with influential Warp records at 18, and spent his early 20's recording and touring, winning audiences over with his dynamic stage presence and customized visual show. A pivotal point came during his debut at Detroit's Electronic Music Festival where security guards raved with the crowd. While at Warp, Edgar released 2004's Access Rhythm, a 4-track EP of blunted, left-field beats, and 2005's 6- track electro-sleaze EP Bounce Make Model. Jimmy's influences and techniques reached a breakthrough synthesis on 2006's LP Color Strip. Using a mix of custom- built gear, and analog and digital instruments, Edgar created a scene-stealing sound that fused Minneapolis funk, California Hip Hop, and Euro Electro. Color Strip became an instant favorite with fans and critics alike. The next few years were marked by a move to New York, emotional turmoil, psychic reawakening, and more side projects including Her Bad Habit, Plus Device, and Creepy Autograph. As X District with Laura Clarke, Edgar released 2007's "Color Correction", a single that originated as a cryptic correspondence between them, revealing more of Edgar's intense fascination with esoteric philosophy and the dark arts. In 2008 Jimmy teamed with The Beta Band's Steve Mason for the Black Affair album "Please Pressure Point", providing engineering, mixing, production, design, and videography work to the project. Returning to his solo persona, parting ways with Warp, and relocating to Berlin, Edgar released his next album XXX on !K7 records in 2010. On XXX, Edgar refined his mutant electro-funk into its most radio-friendly form, and the singles "Hot, Raw, Sex" and "Turn You Inside Out" became essential dance cuts. Encouraged by his friendship with Machinedrum (part of Sepalcure with Braille), in 2012 Jimmy released the LP Majenta on Scuba's Hotflush label. Majenta’s blend of airbrushed 80s futurism and otherwordly sensuality, co-created with recent collaborator and kindred spirit Pilar Zeta, visually expresses Edgar's obsession with spirituality, technology, and the occult. Moved by a transformative trip to Peru’s fabled Machu Picchu, the lifelong transcendence fetishist hopes to rekindle a similar passion for the supernatural in newer audiences. As part of that mission, In 2013 Edgar and Machinedrum co-founded Ultramajic, a label and collective for their various projects. In addition to their work as DJ duo JETS, Stewart will provide A&R to the label; their first release will be Edgar's 3-track EP Hot Inside out in June. A complimentary deck of magical cards created by Zeta and Edgar will be released shortly after the album. Edgar is touring independently and with JETS all summer. At an age when many artists are just coming into their own, Edgar is more secure in his artistic vision than ever. Most importantly, after years of shape-shifting into others' molds, Jimmy Edgar is now in full control. ###

  • R.A.W.

Keep it R.A.W. Ross Walker (R.A.W.) has had a passion for cutting edge electronic music since an early age. Being a regular member of the underground club scene it was only a matter of time before he began DJing and playing the music he loved. His time as a bedroom DJ was rewarded in 2004 when he won a local DJ competition and began regularly performing throughout North West of England. This included venues such as Sankeys (Manchester), The Custard Factory (Birmingham), MyHouse (Leeds) and The Music Box (Manchester). During this early period he met the talented producer Matthew Sargeant (Alive/Broken). They soon realised they shared the same musical vision and began producing together under 'Alive & R.A.W.' and 'Broken & R.A.W.'. During this time R.A.W. learnt a great deal and was able to express his music, drawing upon the technical talents of his studio partner. Their first project created the tracks 'QA7' and 'QA8' in 2008. They were soon signed to Monu-mental Digital and supported by Luke Dzierzek, Mistress Da Funk, Marco V and Eddie Halliwell, which he featured on his BBC Radio1 show. These early tracks demonstrated their experimental sound and fusion of styles, reinforcing the success of the partnership. They continued to develop their sound and later that year produced the dark percussive 'Overture' for No Dough's Movements EP. This track demonstrates their progression and love for percussive techno. Later collaborations included the remix of 'Kris James – Falling Back Into The Dark' for Mad Hatter Recordings. In 2009 R.A.W. began crafting his own solo material, building upon his experience. This gave life to the tribal 'Masaai' and lead driven 'Stack The Deck', which were released on Documenti Sonori Records. These tracks cemented R.A.W.'s percussive forward thinking sound and solo career. Blending techno and house R.A.W. created the vocal 'Feel my love', for sleep is commercial's 'Morning Tools' series. Drawing upon the tribal sounds of 'Masaai' R.A.W. produced the techy percussive 'Atamga'. This was released on sleep is commercial's 'Extended Family Vol.2 EP', with support from Luciano, Danny Tenaglia, Richie Hawtin and Dubfire. 'Atamga' was included on Luciano's groundbreaking Vagabundos CD mix. Following of from the success of Atamga, R.A.W. remixed Horatio and Boghosia' 's track Bochica. This was released on Quanticman records and was supported by Marco Carola at his Music On parties. DJing his has been involved with the growth of Cheshire Garden Party (CGP) and has played along side DJ's such as Richy Ahmed and Shonky. Back in the studio he has just finished an new EP for Celesta records. This label is growing fast and gaining recognition. The EP is due out in the summer with some big remixes. R.A.W. continues to develop as a producer. His influences remain with house and techno, but also touch upon disco, soul and deeper vibes.

  • Solid Blake

̸BIOGRAPHY DJ and producer from Glasgow, operating via Berlin. There are DJs who can extend a single vibe over the course of a night – and then there’s “another way of doing things”, hints Solid Blake. You can guess which camp the Glasgow-born DJ falls in. Bringing the frozen pulse of electro together with dissident techno and bass from all eras, Emma Blake’s side-winding DJ sets and slick productions have made her a fixture of the European underground over the last half-decade, but after years away from home – first in her beloved Copenhagen and now in the techno bustle of Berlin – she’s emerging from her lockdown cocoon with a recalibrated approach. Drawing more and more from the sweatbox euphoria of her early rave days, the next phase of Solid Blake looks set to be shot in Technicolor. Solid Blake’s first original material, inspired by the pneumatics of classic electro and late-late-night acid techno, appeared on choice underground labels Seilscheibenpfeiler and Outer Zone, and she was quickly recognised for her production chops, joining the 2018 cohort of Red Bull Music Academy in Berlin and picking up a nomination for Best Breakthrough Producer from DJ Mag. More recently her output has included remixes for Pär Grindvik and Marc Acardipane, contributions to the Club Quarantäne and Herrensauna compilations, and a live-focused collaboration with CPH techno mainstay Ctrls under the banner Historical Repeater. Despite making her name in the techno-heavy zones of Mitteleuropa, over the years she’s felt the Glasgow influence growing stronger, as she’s pulled towards more eclectic selections and high-contrast blends. More risk equals more excitement – something she’s also discovered through her talent for playing back-to-back DJs like Skee Mask, Stenny and old friend Mama Snake. With new releases forthcoming, plus work on a brand new live show, Solid Blake is speeding towards a distinct new era in her life as an artist. The future can only get weirder.

  • Star Eyes

Queen of heavy bass Star Eyes is synonymous with raw underground bass music. A founding member of the world-renowned Trouble & Bass crew, currently at the helm of the Chaos Clan, this Los Angeles-based DJ/producer causes mayhem on the dancefloor with a style that swiftly connects the dots between regional American bass sounds and the hardcore continuum. Though her style moves across breakbeat, grime, bassline, Bmore/Jersey club, baile funk, and beyond, her aesthetic is continually inspired by jungle, old-skool hardcore, and the L.A. illegal warehouse parties in which she was raised. Star Eyes began DJing at age 15 – her name soon became synonymous with California jungle scene, and she was a longtime resident at the pioneering female-led drum 'n' bass night Eklectic in San Francisco. Eventually she founded America's first UK garage duo Syrup Girls (with DJ Siren) and moved to New York City, where she became a co-founder of the Trouble & Bass crew & record label, who were the first to bring Skepta, Skream & Benga, Night Slugs, Rusko, Elijah & Skilliam, Flava D and more to NYC. In 2009, she began releasing her first original productions and remixes on labels like UTTU, Mixpak, T&B and Worst Behavior. Since T&B disbanded in 2015, she has run her own digital label and party series called Chaos Clan and she's currently a member of L.A. renegade party crew Warp Mode alongside Bianca Oblivion and AK Sports, along with holding down a monthly radio show on Dublab. Star Eyes has played at Outlook Festival, Sonár, Fabric London, EDC, Burning Man, Stealth, Bossa Nova, Elsewhere, Rinse FM, and beyond. She is also an alumni of Red Bull Music Academy, a former radio host on RBMA/Red Bull Radio, a noted music journalist and the host of the RAVE TO THE GRAVE podcast (available on iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, etc). With world-class skills and an irreverent attitude, Star Eyes has definitely earned the title "queen of heavy bass.” ̸ SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY Bell Curve - For the Birds (Star Eyes Remix) (Worst Behavior, 2021) Star Eyes - Sunset 95 (Good Room Brooklyn Compilation, 2020) Statiqbloom - Silver Face (Star Eyes '88 Remix) (Synthicide, 2020) Star Eyes - Overdose (Chaos Clan, 2020) Star Eyes - Leather Strap (Bound, 2020) Star Eyes - Ice Palace (Floor Drugs) (Magic City, 2019) Star Eyes - Close Yr Eyes EP (Chaos Clan, 2016) Star Eyes - Hardest Now EP (Chaos Clan, 2016) Flinch & Star Eyes - Ya'll Ready Know (Smog, 2015) Spooky - Code 9 (Star Eyes Remix) (Hot Mom, 2014) Star Eyes & Jubilee - Merkwood Estates (UTTU, 2013) Dark Ages - First Born EP (Frite Nite, 2012) Star Eyes - Lost Girls EP (Trouble & Bass, 2012) Star Eyes - White Gloves EP (Trouble & Bass, 2011) Michna - Triple Chrome Dipped (Star Eyes Remix) (Ghostly, 2011) Star Eyes - Disappear (Trouble & Bass, 2009)

  • Steffi

Best known as Steffi, Steffie Doms is a DJ, producer, and record label owner associated with the prestigious Berlin nightclub Berghain as well as its Ostgut Ton label. Her productions and DJ sets tend to be a warm, reflective mix of atmospheric techno, house, and electro, heavy on soothing synth pads and gently hypnotic rhythms. Steffi was born in a small town in the Netherlands in 1974. She got into dance music (Belgian new beat and early Chicago house) during the late '80s, and became interested in DJing after being exposed to Detroit electro and early IDM during the first half of the '90s. She moved to Amsterdam in 1997 and started a club night with fellow DJ/producer Awanto 3, and the two began hosting events throughout the Netherlands and Belgium. She moved to Berlin two years later, and eventually became a resident DJ at Berghain's Panorama Bar. In 2010, she started a label called Dolly, and began releasing material as part of Third Side, a collaboration with the Analogue Cops. ~ AllMusic

  • Telfort

̸BIOGRAPHY Rarely, but occasionally, a producer arrives on the scene with little prior hype, yet such stylistic flair that they demand immediate updates to the house music blueprint. Telfort's first three, self-released EPs did just that—announcing the Edinburgh-based artist as a standout producer, capable of crafting delicate yet propulsive house grooves smothered in a deep and galvanised patina that's totally his own but invigorating for everyone. So well received was that first triptych that he quickly garnered fans across the spectrum: Lionoil Industries swiftly drafting him in for an EP, while Piccadilly Records awarded "Lickety Split" one of their coveted, '12"s of the year awards'. Move D, Jane Fitz, Moxie and many others quickly caught on, the former insisting he joins him behind the decks for some now legendary b2b DJ sessions, further showcasing the man's impressive skill set; as deft and creative at constructing meandering journeys through the full spectrum of house music, as he is at writing the songs that warm the sets of other DJs. It's no real wonder, as Telfort's held a locally adored residency at Edinburgh's worst-kept-secret institution, Sneaky Pete's, for some time now—both simultaneously informing and building on his blossoming legacy. The perfect fertile ground to try out new productions and become almost impossibly solid, then. Further afield, he made his US bow; debuted at Offenbach’s beloved Robert Johnson and Hamburg’s intimate Golden Pudel, while becoming a repeat booking at Heideglühen in Berlin and continuing a much celebrated residency at Field Maneuvers festival. Meanwhile, Telfort’s mixes for Crack Magazine, Mixmag and Deep House Amsterdam among others have permeated to attentive fans with cult-like appreciation. In the midst of a creative purple patch, Telfort continues to propel things forward and look to new releases, while igniting dancefloors across Europe and beyond. Thankfully, the algorithm and click-bait-press have at times been surprisingly sluggish on this suave new house cat, making it all the more special, exciting and personal the next time you hear perhaps, "Soon I Will Embark On A Journey" or "Barberweed" blazing out the stacks at your next all night dance party. If you've a penchant for the housey, the heady and the heavenly, then look no further than Telfort.

The name Thee-O has an immense impact on the electronic scene-sters that goes hand-in-hand with the Southern California rave and club culture. In 1998 he released his first commercially available mix CD, "Skywalking" under the Base 9 label. In 2000 he was featured at every massive festival going off in Los Angeles, including Electric Daisy Carnival and Monster Massive. Recently, his name has spread over to the club market as well DJing for clubs like RED, Spundae, Funktion, Naked, Incognito and other L.A. establishments. He is currently known as the “Godfather” of the Los Angeles rave scene with his name on a flyer becoming almost a seal of approval for ravers. As a producer and re-mixer, Thee-O is striking hard and is known as a force to be reckoned with in the global dance community. His recent remix, with Swedish Egil, for Adam Whites & Nat Monday’s' “Another Dominant Force" released on Paul Oakenfold’s Perfecto Digital has received legions of buzz. In October of 2000, he and his studio-partner Chris Arnold opened up Biohazard Studios, located inside the Til Dawn offices, right in the heart of Hollywood. In 2001, he released his first CD of original ambient and down-tempo music under the name Reef Project. In 2005, he built Biohazard Studios 2.0 and created a digital label called Biohazard Digital that sells tracks on Beatport, Audiojelly, Release Records as well as other digital download stores. • The Outside Agency

̸ BIOGRAPHY The Outside Agency is a hardcore act that plays and produces a multi-tempo blend of dark and industrial elements, incorporating virtually anything from old acid and techno to breakcore. As true dissidents within the hardcore scene, The Outside Agency has always had its own unique sound. This was already evident on their first three releases, which they produced for Mokum Records in the late 90s. After that period hardcore suffered a drastic change in direction and the two members of TOA (DJ Hidden & Eye-D) no longer felt at home in the genre and focused their attention on drum & bass instead. Around 2001 hardcore transformed yet again, but this time they were very pleased with the direction it had taken, and they started producing and playing hardcore again with renewed vigor. After a string of successful releases on several international underground labels such as Black Monolith Records and Otaku Records the two founded their own successful imprint Genosha Recordings which is now one of the leading labels in dark underground hardcore. In 2008 the two would set up Genosha One Seven Five for their hardcore and drum & bass crossover material. A third label called Genosha Basic was set up in 2016 for acid and techno material. ̸ SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY Singles: 1996: The Outside Agency EP on Mokum Records 1997: The Case of the Black Bubbles on Mokum Records 1998: We Are As Fresh As Ice Is Cold on Mokum Records 2001: In Theory Everything Is Straight on Black Monolith Records 2003: The Art of Penetrating Without Penetrating on Black Monolith Records 2003: The Coconut Revolution on Otaku Records 2003: There Can Be Only None on Genosha Recordings 2003: Goes Noord vs. The Rest of the World on Genosha Recordings 2004: Weapons of Ass Destruction vol. 3 on Genosha Recordings 2005: Flip-Flops in the Mosh Pit on Genosha Recordings 2005: Hostile Place (/w Celsius) on Epileptik Productions 2005: Screaming Phoenix VIP on Enzyme VIP 2005: Scenocide 101 Album Sampler with Awesome Title on Genosha Recordings 2005: Motherfucking Ants on Genosha Recordings 2005: Necropsych on 46 Records 2005: War in the 8th Dimension on Genosha Recordings 2006: 10 Inches of What? on Genosha Recordings 2006: The Neutralizing Agent on Provoke Records 2006: No, We Don’t Want You to Clap Your Fucking Hands on Genosha Recordings 2006: Brainpainter on Meta4 Recordings 2007: Our Fear on Aentitainment 2007: The Way of the Exploding Fist on Hong Kong Violence 2007: The Easy Money Remix EP on Genosha Recordings 2007: Return of the Revenge of the Dark Alley Space Vampires on Genosha Recordings 2007: Forever Is a Long Time Coming on Genosha Recordings 2008: Goes Noord vs The Rest of the World II on Genosha Recordings 2008: Un Titre En Francais Intensement Profond Et Compliqué Que Vous Ne Comprendrez Jamais on B2K Records 2009: Reality Collapse/Hell's Basement on Independenza Records 2009: The Quadrilogy EP on NGM Records 2009: Surreal / Chaos Theory on Genosha One Seven Five 2009: Return to the Point of No Return on Symp.TOM 2009: Scandinavian Chess on TNI 2010: Crossbreed Definition Series part 1 (/w Cooh and SPL) on Genosha One Seven Five 2010: Hardcore Beyond the Bone on Genosha Recordings 2010: Crossbreed Definition Series part 2 (/w Counterstrike and Donny) on Genosha One Seven Five 2010: The Solution / Wait Your Turn on Killing Sheep 2010: Crossbreed Definition Series part 3 (/w Current Value and Switch Technique) on Genosha One Seven Five 2010: Choice Mission on Meta4 Recordings 2010: The Flux Capacitor / Destruction on Smackdown Recordings 2011: Undermind / Pacifists (/w Sei2ure) on Genosha One Seven Five 2011: Primitive / Scintillate (/w DJ Hidden) on Sustained Records 2011: Unmade World on TNI 2011: Cross on Nekrolog1k Recordings 2011: The Moment on Union Recordings 2012: Favorite Sin / This Never Happened (/w Peter Kurten & Katharsys and Forbidden Society) on Genosha One Seven Five 2012: The Price Is Right / Ghetto Blast on PRSPCT XTRM 2012: The Disputed Kings of Industrial (w/ Ophidian) on Genosha Recordings 2012: Headphone Wisdom / Don't Fear the Darkness (w/ DJ Hidden) on Union Recordings 2012: Perfect Organism (w/ Sinister Souls) on PRSPCT Recordings 2013: Einstein / Tesla (w/ DJ Hidden) on Future Sickness Records 2013: Goes Noord vs. The Rest of the World III (w/ Fracture 4, Broken Rules, Dep Affect and Sei2ure) on Genosha Recordings 2014: Now This Is Crossbreed Vol. 10 on Genosha One Seven Five 2015: Prepare to Die / Borrowed Time on Genosha One Seven Five 2015: Der Remaken on Genosha Recordings 2015: Just Noise / My Design on Genosha One Seven Five 2015: The Future Is No on Genosha Recordings 2015: Bloed, Zweet & Snaren on Genosha One Seven Five 2015: The Easy Money Remix EP 2: More Easy Money on Genosha Recordings 2016: The Easy Money Remix EP 3: The Most Easy Money on Genosha Recordings 2017: Blue Stories on Heresy 2017: Today's Tomorrow / The Violence (w/ Deathmachine) on Genosha One Seven Five 2017: Goes Noord vs. The Rest of the World IV on Genosha Recordings Albums: 2005: Scenocide 101 (2xCD) on Genosha Recordings 2010: Scenocide 202 (2xCD) on Genosha Recordings 2012: The Dogs Are Listening (CD+G) on Ad Noiseam 2017: Scenocide 404 (2xCD) on Genosha Recordings

  • Tia Cousins

̸BIOGRAPHY London based DJ and Radio Presenter The rise of online radio stations with their unrestricted musical policies has been a perfect blessing for Tia Cousins. She is a collector with a passion for in-between sounds, for experimental genres and niches both old and new. Frankly, she has a collection that belies her young years, but one that has won her plenty of recognition in underground circles, from NTS to Balamii, the Tate Gallery to Brilliant Corners. Tia's extensive knowledge reaches well into jazz, synth-pop and post-punk. But she can just as easily join the dots between EBM and cold wave on the radio as she can lay down heavier techno, breaks and chug in the club. So far her dizzyingly eclectic but well-sequenced selections have turned heads on radio stations across the country, most recently landing her on Bristol's Noods Radio for a new monthly residency. The past year has seen her join Overmono on their UK & Ireland tour as the sole support, debut at festivals like Field Maneuvers and Love international, make appearances at prolific clubs such as Fabric, Corsica Studios and The Beams alongside acts like Optimo (Espacio), Vladimir Ivkovic and Helena Hauff.

̸BIOGRAPHY Anglo-Japanese DJ // Co Host | Sacred Pools Show on NTS In his early teens, Toshiki was almost permanently locked to pirate radio stations like Touchdown and Kool FM. A fake NUS card took the 16 year old into a hedonistic, progressive world of raves, seduced by the sounds of early jungle at nights like AWOL and World Dance to techno from Laurent Garnier, Billy Nasty and Fabi Paras each playing at the height of their powers at Club UK. Decades later, and Tosh’s taste for new music has yet to dampen, as his reputation as a versatile, generous selector has only grown. In a hype-focused environment for DJing, it speaks volumes that Tosh has been on-hand for London promoters such as Percolate and Krankbrother in order to play alongside some of the world's most influential DJs. As well as shows in the UK he plays overseas in Australia, Greece, Croatia and regularly in his home country Japan, where he has played in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, as well as broadcasting on the country's influential Dommune stream. In 2020, Tosh joined DJ October and Faso as a monthly co-host on the cult ‘Sacred Pools’ show on NTS Radio, a no-holds-barred trip dissolving the boundaries between electronic and alternative music. Whether in muddy fields, vast club spaces or in a small improvised Room 2, Tosh’s sincere acid house spirit and infectious enthusiasm always translates, always inspires. John Thorp, 2020
