about
On the 27th of January, Revision Music will present a night of modern Jungle and Rave music featuring Coco Bryce from the Netherlands. Coco Bryce’s DJ sets are seen on Boiler Room Festival Amsterdam 2023, have graced the rave at Dekmantel, and are heard monthly on Peckham, London’s leading underground music channel Balamii.

Earning a cult following worldwide the Breda-based producer has honed in on an evocative and authentic sound style that appeals to skaters, ravers, audiophiles and discerning electronic music fans. Since launching his Myor label in 2005, Coco Bryce boasts over a hundred releases under his belt. The breadth and depth of the Coco Bryce sound is largely influenced by early dance steps taken at gabber and UK Hardcore events in the south of the Netherlands in the mid-nineties, influencing the seasoned veteran DJ’s signature yet non-formulaic electronic tracks that have been signed to iconic labels such as Fresh 86, Lobster Theremin and the heavyweight drum & bass label, Critical Music.

As the final Asian tour stop after club nights in Japan and Korea, expect creamy sub bass, upfront breakbeats and the euphoric, elevated sounds of jungle and rave from Coco Bryce for one night only in Singapore, specially requested for all retro club kids and ravers from the future.

Revision DJs Gahmen, Helios XL (Nez Senja) and special guests Snooze and Tink on support duties alongside Carhartt WIP at iKi on Saturday, the 27th of January.

Coco Bryce may be a relatively new name to most in the UK, however he’s been plying his trade for around two decades. Hailing from Breda in the south of the Netherlands, it was back in the ‘90s when he first became enamoured with the sounds of breakbeat hardcore and gabber — the latter, he feels perhaps inevitable for a Dutch kid, despite it being at odds with the skater culture he was also a part of.“The raw energy just grabbed me,” he says. Learning to DJ from his friends, Bryce (real name: Yoël Bego) got himself “a pair of shitty Soundlab belt-drive turntables”, started to pick up bookings at a mate’s local night, and the rest, as they say, is history. Production-wise, Bego’s journey has been a winding one. Over the years he’s dabbled in four-to-the-floor hardcore, skweee and, quite regularly, hip-hop. It’s his emotive, rolling take on breakbeat hardcore/jungle which has become his primary focus, however. As jungle’s new wave has solidified into a certifiable movement, Bego has become one of the genre’s most sought-after producers, and though his output is still varied, he says, “I’m glad I went down this path, because it’s the type of music I enjoy making the most.
