about
Welcome to the inaugural edition of Midnight Shift Productions, where events merge with narratives.

Our debut event in collaboration with Stay Sharp Mutha Puaka takes on a dual purpose, firstly aiming to present the remarkable work of women who have transcended the confines of traditional tattoo artistry, also to emphasize that tattoos are, at their core, expressions of artistry. From meticulously detailed Asian influences to precise illustrations and anime-inspired creations, these eight talented individuals – Brandi, Gracia, Iwani M, Jazzle, Josephine, Moo, R3bellia, and Sarahann – will be bringing these artistic forms to life, both for viewing and, should you choose, for adorning your own canvas.

Complementing these intricate ink creations will be the rhythm masters - including the likes of Dexter Colt (Darker Than Wax), Jenn Chunes (Super Enjoy), Leland, our enigmatic Working Title from Midnight Shift (come discover their true identity), and Jeremy Cheung, a tastemaker hailing from Hong Kong. Returning to our shores is Powder from Japan, a figure whose independence and unparalleled music curation continue to inspire us.

A nod of appreciation to our unsung hero Shoon, the architect of our aesthetic. Welcome to the realm of Ink and Rhythms, where every beat tells a story and every stroke etches a memory.

  • Jenn Chunes

Few selectors have emerged through the Singaporean scene as quickly or as impressively as Kuala Lumpur native Jenn Chunes. With intercontinental ties to renowned music collectives such as Super Enjoy (Singapore) and The Operatives (Australia), Jenn has made a habit of disarming crowds with her no-frills style and perpetually unpredictable sound. Drawing upon her multicultural roots in Malaysia, and the leftfield sensibilities gleaned from her young adulthood in Melbourne’s underground, Jenn’s freewheeling blends encompass everything from nostalgic Asian pop to forward-thinking electronic music, with unanticipated (yet perfectly-timed) drops of sensual R&B and UKG chops when the mood calls. As a trained house dancer, it's easy to see how her intuition for the flow of the floor has made her such a nimble figure behind the decks. Jenn Chunes currently programs independent radio and collaborative events in Singapore, aiming to connect the space between the regional music scene and underground performance arts communities. Previously have been on the bill for Saoirse (UK), Soulection (USA), Jazzy Sport (JP) and most recently, Boiler Room Singapore.

Some artists fully deserve their hype and Powder is definitely one of them. Momoko "Moko" Goto, better known in the DJ world as Powder, has successfully taken her neon charged creations out of the Tokyo underground and into the discerning worldwide house & techno public. After her debut on Lovefingers’ ESP Institute, Powder’s cosmic rhythms found a home on Samo DJ’s Born Free & Discodromo’s CockTail d’Amore Music, pushing her tribal-inspired, hypnotic sound further into a surreal house, techno and psychedelic disco territory. She recently ushered in a brand new mix series for Beats in Space, a further testament to her DJ skills and sensibilities. Beyond her work as a music creator, Powder’s DJing backs up her production style with many influences. As a selector, she has notably eclectic tastes, which run the gamut from house to no wave to Japanese synthpop, utilizing extended loops and subtle blends to create a genre-defying, transcendent experience.
