SadoMasoDisco
With what was originally intended for one night only, DJs Karlo and Limsum established Sado Maso Disco as one of the go-to nightlife experiences in Manila. Since the end of 2022, the “Sado” crew has regularly put out the most memorable raves for the city’s avid partygoers, featuring international acts such as Romain FX (Fauve Records, HK), Mr. Ho (Klasse Wrecks, HK), Alex Kassian (Love on the Rocks, Berlin), Maara (Montreal), and Sound Metaphors (Berlin). Sharing the decks with them are notable local talent who push out only the best selects of various genres ranging from house, disco, techno, breaks, baile funk, etc. which end up becoming cult classics you’d hear on a night out in town. In their effort to discover Manila’s newest selectors, they have consistently highlighted up-and-coming DJs in their lineup. With the simple goal of making it “as fun as possible,” Sado Maso Disco maintains a loyal base of supporters who are all about the community and the music.
Limsum
Whom the Philippines' professional world knows as lawyer Jeric Lim, Manila’s local nightlife and music scene has known him longer as “Limsum.” Since his beginnings as a DJ in 2015, he has commandeered the decks of some of the city’s best clubs and parties to deliver electric sets that avid partygoers won’t forget. In his goal to “unite generations on the dance floor,” he sticks to his unique digs of progressive house, 90s techno, house, italo disco, and balearic to build and maintain energy that keeps dancers going. More than playing the rarest finds as a dedicated enthusiast, he has been noted for having a keen sense of what truly makes the dancefloor light up. Limsum has also been one of the vanguards of fostering local talent in the Manila scene. In recent years, he collaborated with like-minded selectors to establish Ikigai Radio and Manila Community Radio, which serve as springboards for up-and-coming DJs and musicians to share their music to the city and beyond. In the tail end of 2022, he co-founded Sado Maso Disco, a regularly recurring party which has become one of the go-to stops in Asia for renowned international acts the likes of Mr. Ho, Liquid Earth, Fantastic Man, Alex Kassian, Maara, Telephones and Sound Metaphors with whom he has shared the booth with.
