Located at Changle Road, in the district of Huangpu, sits the newest addition to the electronic music club scene of Shanghai. HEIM, meaning ‘sanatorium’ or ‘home’ in German, is the new club that will push for more modular performances in the world’s most urban city.
HEIM will be officially opening its doors this weekend. In preparation for its launch, the club had hosted multiple soft launches including a two-day ‘test’ event in June. Featured artists for the soft launches included Knopha, HAO, Jeff Chong, etc. As an electronic music club, HEIM hopes that event-goers will ‘find a place’ in them, as well as the place for the local music community to unwind and recharge.
HEIM will be hosting its third event, Sermons, tonight at 10pm till late. “Sermons is a dancefloor experiment full of surprises and challenges. High energy and functionality are not the key indicators of the night — how to build self-expression and transmit information are.” says the spokesperson of HEIM in a press release. “DJs participating in this experience will have to face themselves sincerely and contribute their energy in a completely different way each time.” With this, the local community can expect to be treated with a night filled with passion and intensity for electronic music.
