嶋田会希 – Elle Shimada is a violinist, producer, curator, DJ and multi-instrumentalist from Tokyo based in Melbourne. Fluidly fusing Tokyo’s futuristic underground sound with influences from London and Detroit House, Shimada’s production and live sets are a kinetic succession of dance beats and abstract compositions. Shimada has independently collaborated with a myriad of artists in Melbourne and overseas, performing and recording with Clever Austin, Paul Bender (Hiatus Kaiyote), Jace XL, Allysha Joy and Dufresne – music that can be found on releases by Worldwide FM and Stamp The Wax. With an undercurrent of feminism, cultural curiosity and a political mindset, Shimada’s musicianship been shown on stages supporting Lonnie Liston Smith, Giles Peterson and The Australian Art Orchestra.

HipHopHoe is on high rotation in the Narrm and Warrang queer club scenes. Her work is dedicated to amplifying the voices and stories of First Nations Peoples, LGBTQA+ peoples, those of the African Diaspora and those otherwise silenced through oppression. Although her first love is hip hop, expect the unexpected as she spans genres, decades, moods and sounds in one giant leg-spread.

Melbourne-based DJ, event curator and radio presenter, MzRizk, is renowned for her ongoing contributions to Melbourne’s rich cultural and music landscape. Her many projects are a distinct blend of music knowledge, creative diversity and cultural and community engagement. MzRizk has supported Evelyn Champagne King, Public Enemy, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jill Scott, Maxwell, John Morales, Osunlade, Rahaan, Natasha Diggs, Common, Talib Kweli, Snarky Puppy, Sampa The Great etc. MzRizk has performed all over the world including Glastonbury Festival in the UK, Womadelaide's After Party, Soundwave (Croatia), Groovin' The Moo nationally, Big Day Out, Sugar Mountain Festival, Red Bull Sound Select at Splendour In The Grass for Sampa The Great. Mardi Gras Sydney, Radio Beirut in Beirut, Soul In The Horn, Mobile Mondays and Yallah! in New York as well as the Woo Hah Hip Hop Festival in Tilburg. MzRizk is an artist at the Biennale of Sydney 2020.

Tarabeat is an ensemble - or takhet - of musicians that draws heavily from the traditions of classical Middle Eastern music. Relying extensively on arabic scales - maqams - and rhythyms for their compositions, the group seeks to build off of a long and rich history of regional Tarab music. Tarabeat achieves its unique sound by supplementing an otherwise traditional instrumentation of Oud, Nay, Qanoun, Santour, Violin, Tar, and Riq with sequencers, digital synthesizers, and bass guitars. The result is an energetic blend of dance music, heavily inspired by Tarab, Sufi, and other regional folk music.
