̸BIOGRAPHY LIGRYE has brought his blend of house, techno and bass to Seoul underground staple venues since his 2013 debut at Exit. His soundscapes have shapeshifted since then and evolved to include afrobeats, ballroom house and experimental world rhythms. He has contributed his select sound to parties such as Pute Deluxe and Boiler Room in Seoul as well as bigger festivals such as ULTRA Korea, Spectrum, Holiday Land and Arcadia Festival in Korea. He is a natural collaborator and has added his flavor as a core member of the Pute Deluxe creative collective, and his residency at the TRES parties with the formidable Kingmck has put him on the map as a permanent fixture in the Seoul underground music scene. LIGRYE is also sought after on the art and fashion scene and has played at the Balmain x H&M store openings and the Louis Vuitton collection opening in Seoul, the Seoul Fashion Festival, the Playboy Korea launch party as well as the Art Basel after party in Hong Kong. Internationally, he has successfully toured china, Dada Beijing, Dada Shanghai, Oil Shenzen, NOX chengdu and ALTN8 Festival and Art Basel in Hong Kong. Hailing from South Africa, LIGRYE started a uniquely Afro-esque party JOL at Cakeshop which features beats from his home country and other sounds inspired by the continent. Filtered, a party that celebrates the intersection of music and art is also LIGRYE’s brainchild. Shade is arguably LIGRYE’s biggest claim to the industry as it is not only a party with the hottest DJs, music and people but also features international performers. Yaeji, Kim Anna Foxman, Mike Q, Byrell the Great, Zebra Katz and Tygapaw, to name a few, are some performers who have graced the decks and dancefloors of Shade. His latest collaborative party is Femme, an ode to the feminine. Both Shade and Femme are creative, LGBTQIA inclusive spaces. He has been featured internationally, ID magazine US, Poland, Japan and Mexico, Dazed and Confused Korea and OkayAfrica as a formidable creative in Seoul.
