about
Tessellate is an immersive event that aims to bridge the gap between Melbourne’s two finest creative channels: musical and visual expression. For our first event back in 2021, we are sharing with you Tessellate // [re]connect.
[re]connecting is an act of nurturing and re-forming bonds. It’s tapping into what we already hold within ourselves and what we share with the people and spaces around us. [re]connecting is how we check-in with our communities; it’s how we communicate with one another and it’s how we get to know our minds and bodies more intimately and honestly. Tessellate is presenting you with [re]connect: a time to celebrate new connections and re-acquaint with the old // a space to remind ourselves that we are not alone ~
Our event takes place on the stolen land of the Wurundjeri people. It is on their land that we are able to connect to one another, across generations and geographical spaces. It is on their land that for this event we are able to [re]connect with you all again. We would like to pay our respects to their Elders, past present and emerging, and extend these respects to other First Nation persons. With this comes the recognition that indigenous sovereignty has never been ceded. Always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
Tickets are free for First Nation folks; you can let us know on the door or via our facebook chat function. 10% of profits will go toward the KARI Foundation, an organisation that provides Aboriginal community support services and cultural preservation initiatives.
