about
Experimental synthesis. Techno. Ambient electronica. Digital spoken word.
These are just hints of what to expect at this first live session by the Synth Commune, a community of synthesizer nerds and electronic musicians based in Singapore. Not quite a dance event, the showcase is a geeky get together for enthusiasts and members of the public who may be curious about electronic instruments.
On the bill are Irving Paul Pereira, the darling noise musician and poet of the island’s underground; The DadBots Collective, Singapore’s only installation art group that is focused on modular synthesis, as well as popular synth-wave outfit, Falling Islands. Adding star power to the line-up is Michael Spicer, former keyboardist, and flute player of Australian pop super group, Redgum. He will be collaborating with his son, Eryn, and local electronica virtuoso, Lydia Ang, as Sonic Escapade. Serbian punk rocker turned Techno head, Ninando, shares his passion for the 4/4 beat on eurorack, while veteran DJ, Yang, doubles down on the bass by letting his instincts fly from traditional decks onto a synthesizer spaceship.
