According to legend, an Onryō is a wrathful ghost, tethered to our world by injustice. They stalk the night seeking rightful restitution for the living's wicked transgressions.
On the 15th at night, our cryptic rituals and sinister soundscape will summon an Onryō to harvest retribution on the dancefloor of S9. Our faceless DJs are but servants, orchestrating the Onryō's malevolence from behind the DJ booth. Through jarring rhythms and electric, hypnotic sounds, our selectors behind haunted Noh masks will entrance the crowd into a trance.
This is not your typical pounding techno night. We are bringing a fresh musical experience by blending different electronic music styles like fast, 140+ BPM high energy house music mixed with dreamy trance melodies. These hypnotic sounds are topped with trippy acid basslines and vocals from energetic breakbeat or ghetto tech genres. But the main focus remains the danceable groove that gets people moving. Our DJs draw inspiration from the legendary Radiant Love record label, co-created by pioneer Byron Yeates, to the funky groovy tech sounds of Canadian artist D. Tiffany. We also feature the Kalahari Oyster Cult collective and their leading renowned producers like Roza Terenzi or Maara. In everyday language, Onryō aims to take clubbers on a musical journey through old school rave euphoria to modern electric new compositions, with plenty of melody, groove and vocals.
