With releases on the famed Kalahari Oyster Cult label from Amsterdam, Sansibar has established himself as a serious artist to watch with his floor-focused, genre-bending tracks that merge electro, techno, house and liquid jungle together into a delightful frenzy. Melodic, euphoric and gravity-defying in nature, Sansibar’s sonic world draws us into the realm of space and light. He holds residencies at Kaiku and Post Bar, as well as radio shows on IDA and EOS. Hailing from Helsinki, Finland, Sansibar is a non-pareil cosmic traveller -also producer, resident DJ at Kaiku and Post Bar and wave agitator on IDA Radio and EOS Radio -whose genre-unbound sound credentials for the likes of Kalahari Oyster Cult, Natural Sciences, Émotsiya, Darknet, Avoidance et al. have helped establish as one of today’s most intriguing talents in the European scene. After spending time in New York, Justin (Faxtory) became fascinated with the city’s underground techno scene from regularly attending parties where legendary local DJs would play (eg. Frankie Bones, Damon Wild, Adam X).
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Justin aims to bring his vision for music, influenced by artists from around the world, back to his roots. Expect an eclectic mix of tracks and polyrhythmic beats brought together by groovy footwork that you might hear at an industrial warehouse in Brooklyn, or a basement in Queens.
