about
Join us at Tuff Club for an electrifying night of dancing with the one and only Ivan Smagghe!

Along with the likes of occasional partner-in-crime Andrew Weatherall, Ivan has the ability to play music like a raw conduit between his famously obscure records and the dancefloor's strobe-soaked bodies, injecting something of himself seamlessly into…

France's most wanted radio host and selector, Ivan Smagghe stands at the crossroads between glamorous Parisian hype and musical integrity.

His genre-defying/defining production work, originally in Black Strobe and now in It’s A Fine Line (who have recently finished Battant's second LP, 'As I Ride with No Horse'), has connected him to and garnered the praise of (amongst others) James Murphy, Trevor
Jackson, Ata, Optimo, and the aforementioned Weatherall. All fellow crusaders in the fight to prove that electronic music can be so much more than a one-dimensional soundtrack for a night on the lash.

The success of his musical blog 'a few things from Ivan Smagghe' has generated a compilation series of edits for Paris uber-fashion store Colette. The first volume sold out in a couple of weeks. His project with Tim Paris, It's A Fine Line, has already put out numerous remixes (from Superpitcher to the XX) and releases that can't be pigeonholed (electro rockabilly on Kompakt to italo rickety disco on Marketing Music). Their new studio is now fully set for original music, remixes, and production. Expect a lot more from them in 2012.

Aside from his A&R role for the now 10-year-old label Kill The DJ (who have released the first EP of RMVN, Ivan’s project with Roman Flugel), Ivan has also started solo work (a noted remix for Parisian label Meant) as well as more planned collaborations with musical friends (Ewan Pearson and Tiga being first on the list).

  • Toppings

Co-Founder & Resident DJ at Ice Cream Sundays Hailing from Manila, Toppings (Jake Camacho) is best known for his work as co-founder, resident DJ, and core team member of Singapore-based party collective, Ice Cream Sundays. A lifelong student of music history, his exposure to diverse musical styles and traditions shines through in his eclectic approach to DJing. Rooted in deep, soulful, and psychedelic house infused with jazz, disco, funk, balearic, and afrobeat, each of his sets delivers a tasty blend of percussive grooves, playful experimentation, and—at times—pure, uncut optimism. Equally at home in a beachside booth, an intimate dark room, or playing to large, sweaty crowds, he has plied his trade at clubs and music-focused venues all over the city, including Headquarters, TUFF CLUB, CÉ LA VI, Kilo, Offtrack, Tanjong Beach Club, and Potato Head, to name a few. He has built a reputation for tasteful and versatile selection along the way, so it's no surprise he has been called on to support high-caliber acts like AlunaGeorge, Henrik Schwarz, Chaos In The CBD, Soul Clap, Jasper James, Tornado Wallace, Dekmantel Soundsystem, Floyd Lavine, Lowheads, and Bosq. He has also been invited to play at some of Singapore's largest events, representing the Ice Cream Sundays crew at the F1 Singapore Grand Prix, Neon Lights Festival, Garden Beats Festival, and IMI Festival. As a DJ/promoter, Toppings co-founded Ice Cream Sundays in 2016. Over the years, the collective has become a fixture in the local nightlife circuit, throwing some of Singapore's most memorable and sought after pop-up parties. They have sold out shows wherever they spring up—whether it's a 1920s theme park, a green enclave, or a stark industrial space—while collaborating with likeminded local and regional powerhouses such as Darker Than Wax, Shi Fu Miz, and Rainbow Disco Club. And behind the decks at each of their events, you'll find the cheeky selector himself.
