Greetings, Selector Hawk I here, I hail from Wellington New Zealand, currently residing in Melbourne city. I love selecting Roots, Ska, Dancehall, Modern Roots, Dub, Steppers Hip-Hop, Dubstep & Jungle from across the board not being restricted to a particular genre or era, whilst staying up to di times with new tunes, discovering the history of the foundation tunes and representing local and New Zealand artists. With that said of course playing to the crowd is important whilst staying true to your own to your own sound is fundamental.

JAH TUNG: proper noun // literally “message of higher consciousness" The title Jah Tung is an acknowledgement that the artist is merely a vessel, tapping into the divine source of life! Jah Tung has always found a more accurate, wholistic, relevant and relatable avenue of expression in singing, writing music and poetry. With that gift comes responsibility. The responsibility to glorify The Most High, to use this power of influence to unite and uplift the masses to a state of common consciousness and Oneness! Although it is often a burden, the mission of a Rastaman is a constant and continuous struggle for real truths and rights!

Born in Harare, Zimbabwe. Raised in Auckland, New Zealand. Perfected in Melbourne, Australia. This Melbourne based Afro Dancehall crew is made up of MCs Hlats and Max Shotta. Having started working together in a crew called Yung Shottaz (YS), Hlats and Max have built themselves a reputation of delivering hard hitting lyrics combined with energetic live performances. Since relocating to Melbourne in 2018, the crew quickly established themselves in the local dancehall/reggae scene which saw them getting notimated for a Music Victoria award in 2019.
