about
A couple of years ago Pauli Pocket was still pulling her records out of a plastic shopping bag with which she brought the dance floor in motion.
Money can buy you a record case but not the right attitude!
In the meantime she’s cleaned the slate and rearranged her medium. Digital feels good. And her clean, bouncy upwards drive will outplay us all in the end!

  • Audio Anonymous

Not everything is what it seems in a world plagued by uncertainty. Propaganda and misdirection are planted like breadcrumbs, on a trail leading away from truth. The binary of day to day life and the delicate fabric of society shroud reality, whilst an intricate web of lies and false innuendo mask what is, and hide what should be. Every so often a shift in the musical paradigm occurs, a glitch in the Matrix if you will, and through this anomaly, this black hole, this vacuum of bass, the truth cuts through. Given the option of taking the blue pill or the red pill, we would strongly recommend you take both! Because Audio Anonymous, the enigmas, the masters of synth, the captains of your soul, the doctors of destiny, the men who invented sound itself, will go far beyond even the farthest reaches of the rabbit hole and teach you how to truly feel. Like Daft Punk before them and most likely no one after, they prefer their identities to remain private. However this is most likely because, as rumour...

  • Ben Coda

For nearly a decade Ben Coda has been crafting his progressive techno sound. Ben’s tight, energetic live shows and DJ sets have rocked crowds worldwide. With one foot in clubland and another in the international festival circuit, he is as at home laying down beats in a Berlin basement as he is taking people on a ride on a dusty dancefloor. Ben’s music cuts through genres, never following a trend, and this is reflected in the diverse set of DJs from across the dance music spectrum that play his tracks. He has released music on some of the most influential underground labels around, including Iboga Records, Tribal Vision, Lot49, Echoes, Flow and many more. A core member of the Lowering the Tone crew with Meat Katie, Ben hosts regular podcasts with key music industry players. He has a monthly show on Proton Radio, one of the leading online dance music stations, called Connected, and is also one half of psychedelic techno act Nanoplex, part of the Iboga Records family...

  • Dirty Doering

If all went according to plan you wouldn’t be the least interested in this text. Indeed the story of young Velten who leaves his hometown in the Black Forest to find an orderly apprenticeship in Berlin and who grows up over time – such a story wouldn’t be very gripping. Fortunately there is a club in Berlin that is called „Ostgut“ and people like Velten who like to make irrational decisions from time to time. The outcome is foreseeable: instead of sitting in the subway on his way to work, on a Monday morning, Velten much rather joins his pals in his run down flat for an after hour. Luckily these pals not only share their passion for sheer endless nights, but also start to organise event- series, open bars or turn a rundown Berlin backyard into a club. This is exactly the path that turned Velten within a short period of time into a DJ, producer and finally KATERMUKKE label boss DIRTY DOERING...

  • Ed Steele

Ed Steele delivers an album called 'Killing Time' on D-Nox's consistently superb Sprout imprint. (August 2020) Ed, originally from Oxford in England, but recently moved to Devon, returns to Sprout, fully armed with a virtual mountain of goodness, so let's start with the music, and we kick off with the very dramatic 'Double Take'. A haunting affair, full of drive and a moody layered soundscape, dark and mysterious, until the break lands where little glimpses of light poke through, before slamming back in to some peak time melodic techno action. We head a little deeper with 'Savour The Moment', but again are treated to some haunting elements, as this intense monster unfurls its magic, full of drive and some melancholic melodics. 'Killing Time' is a sci-fi inspired bleepy melodic winner, with hints to yesteryear, yet sounding fresh and cutting edge. Big and bold! Rounding off this sampler, we have 'Aimless. This subtle gem treats us to wonderful key changes, where darkness meets light, as an air of...

  • Franky & Sandrino

Frankey & Sandrino’s creative and personal lives are uniquely intertwined between cities. The German duo, based in Essen and Berlin respectively, have been making music together for just over a decade. In that time, their rich, detailed style has graced the upper-echelons of house and techno’s worthiest institutions, garnering a legacy of releases on labels such as Innervisions, Mule Musiq, Kompakt and Diynamic. The impact of tracks such as ‘Acamar’, ‘Mercury’ or ‘Chimes’ has paved the way for the unstoppable rise of Frankey & Sandrino within the global electronic music scene. However, it’s with the humble commitment to their craft that the duo still finds time to push the boundaries of their musical partnership, still chasing transcendence in the studio, many years since they first made it happen.

  • James Monro

Born in the UK and now settled in South America, James Monro's immersion within the music industry goes back some 30 years. Having been classically trained at school, James' musical influences diverged into a long and keen love affair with all things electronic. From his initiation into the otherworldly sounds of Yello, Jean Michelle Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Visage, Human League, Brian Eno, Georgio Moroder and the more left field electronic experimental bands of the early 80's, and combined with a deep love of the psychedelic bands of the 70's, disco and early hip hop, it was inevitable that he fall into a passionate relationship with electronic dance music. He entered into club land, journeyed through the early daze of Acid House, the uk's "summers of love" in '88 and '89 , onto the beaches of Goa in the early '90's and out into the global circuit of parties and festivals that have since become his playground. All the while collecting the music as he went, finding and forging his own sound, and starting up t

  • Switchbox

Switchbox started with two friends and their passion for analogue equipment and techno. The story begins with the building of their studio, where they started experimenting in music production back in the 90’s, leading to the next step for them, which was to take a whole bunch of hardware equipment from their studio to perform live sets at parties around Germany. This is when they started to be known on the local German techno scene as Switchbox. After spending time exploring production also in different genres and in other projects, the guys found their way back to their techno roots and gave themselves a new burst of Switchbox energy in the studio, giving them a new lust to once again explore the techy way of the electronic universe. After being occupied in the studio for which turned into years, of producing and sharing their music directly to the dance floor, it was time to put energy into making tracks which were more refined and accessible for record label release...

  • Tim Engelhardt

One of Cologne’s youngest and brightest electronic music stars on the rise, Tim Engelhardt didn’t gatecrash the scene out of leftfield, but started his path to connoisseurship fairly early on: trying to rewrite the piano pieces he had to practice at the tender age of eight, he showed an independent creative mind from the get-go – a character trait that would prove exremely helpful for a later career as electronic music producer. But it was only when Tim later discovered the releases of Cologne techno luminary Robert Babicz that synthesizers and bass drums moved into focus – a brilliant producer, live performer and mastering engineer with a keen sense for sonic detail, Babicz became the perfect role model for young Tim, inspiring our hero to seek out his own place in electronic music while honing a concise understanding for all facets of production.
