    Australia’s talent pool is truly overflowing. After the unfortunate cosmic event known as 2020, it’s time we pay homage to those local creatives in the best way we know: a huge industrial street rave with a city skyline shaking in the pulsating waves emanating from a crystal clear Funktion-One Soundsystem. On Sat 6th Mar, Friends Of Friends steps up, and we celebrate the tireless modern musicians who go about their business in an unfussy fashion week-in-week-out.

      One of Melbourne’s most tasteful deejays in selecting and stringing a set of oft-forgotten odd cuts and obscure electronic groove. Toni occupies her own space in sounding and holding down a floor through her uniquely jacking selection. Toni Yotzi has played a crucial role in developing Perth into a thriving club metropolis, programming Deep Doogs’ sunrise rave, co-hosting Full Frequency on RTR FM and presenting parties for Kenji Takimi, Bell Towers and DJ Nozaki. Now based in Melbourne, she’s established herself as one of the most open minded DJs on the local circuit, immortalised by a legendary Inner Varnika and Golden Plains set's that saw her fearlessly transition from Jon Hassell to italo disco, memphis rap and Bristol bass and UK techno.

A blank insignia, Katie has avoided this through a unique, yet authentic musical journey. She has long been at the forefront of Australia’s queer dance scene, most notably as co­host of “gay ass disco”, The Outpost. However, when you can regularly produce moments of dance floor ecstasy that Front Leftists thought only possible in the ’90s, you quickly become the scenes worst kept secret.

      Holding a strong appreciation for the sounds of Detroit techno, and Chicago’s golden house era, Marli reflects these styles in both her original productions and her DJ sets. With a history of formal music training, and years studying production, her original works have laid the foundation for her sets as a selector, frequently playing at local hotspots Dr Morse, Xe54, Section 8, Ferdydurke, and Revolver Upstairs. Thus far in her career, Marli has warmed up the decks for Detroit Swindle, Harvey Sutherland, Ben Pearce, Big Miz, Sally C, Ben Rau, and Folamour, exploring genres deep house, soul, and disco, in sets which maintain heavy syncopated rhythms, laden with rich soul samples, and a warm nostalgic vibe throughout.
