Hon
Born in Hong Kong but fashioned in the rejuvinated warehouses of Hackney Wick, Hon's cultural journey through music, food and photography has taken him all around the globe in pursuit of honing of his various crafts. Having moved to Lincolnshire at the age of 15 to study, Hon became utterly consumed by the multifaceted music bug; in this period of his life he began to build his record collection with a foundational passion for Hard House, Techno, Psy Trance and Happy Hardcore. Upon moving to university in Plymouth, which later prompted him to spend time in Amsterdam and New York, Hon was seduced by the underground raving scene in both of these cities, thus it was only natural that he continued in this vein when he returned to the UK. The prosperity of pre-recession London drew Hon to the vibrant community of Hackney Wick, where he began to sell records using the Discogs platform. Commissioned by DJs, collectors and randoms to sell their record collections, Hon developed his reputation as the master of record flipping and eventually sought out a more official aesthetic to his new pursuit; it was then that Vinyl Pimp was born. Nearly 15 years afters its inception, Vinyl Pimp has became a vitally important pillar in London's flourishing electronic music scene and its crates have played host to some colossal diggers. Acquiring and processing the collections of a vast variety of collectors such as Giles Peterson, Doc Scott, Ben Sims and Gilles Smith has no doubt expanded Hon's taste to include Jazz, Disco, House and Experimental. Unconcerned with conforming to a specific sound or scene, his DJ sets eclectically traverse the driving sounds of Hypnotic and Detroit Techno, fused with soul and deepness.

Vence
Through a selection of high-level grooves and top shelf energy, Vence’s sets deliver a lush blend of bass-heavy rollers combined with euphoric electronica. Raised in The Hague on the coast of the Netherlands, Vence was exploring dancefloors and collecting music as a youngling well before he took up DJing. With a move to North Africa, he quickly became part of the vibrant Tunisian music scene, playing for the influential ‘Downtown Vibes’ collective, the mesmerising Tunisian ‘Woodstock festival’ and many clubs such as ‘Wax Bar’, ‘Yuka’ and ‘Habibi’. Vence is currently based in Hong Kong. Though you might catch his jazzier side playing vinyl sets at the Mandarin Oriental, he has found a true home with the minimal stronghold ‘Interlude’, where his sound has been given a platform for opening doors and minds alike. Towering over the decks with a smile, Vence intends to make otherworldly sounds feel familiar and bring listeners together in sonic moments that briefly make us whole.

Luk Man Hon has drawn a fascinating, squiggled line across the globe, through some of the world’s most interesting places. Originally from Hong Kong (Wan Chai), Hon moved to Lincolnshire in the UK at age 15. It was there he learned firsthand the ways of the UK, notably its famed exploits: music and culture. It was here, ensconced in 90’s and 00’s electronic music culture, that he got into buying vinyl. From Hard House to Psy Trance, Happy Hardcore, Hard Techno and beyond, it was in these early days he saw the intrinsic value; both monetary and cultural, of records. Flash forward to his University studies at Plymouth, Hon spent extended time in both New York and Amsterdam. Both already bubbling over with electronic music culture as it was in the UK, Hon now felt the draw of permanence to Europe and the west. Hong Kong called, but it was London that answered. In pre-recession 2008, London was rife with opportunity. Hon seized the moment and started selling second-hand vinyl, using the web platform Discogs. He still had a love for the culture, and regularly partied at outdoor raves and in the east end warehouses. Curiously enough, he fused experience with business acumen, and set up shop in one of the very warehouses he frequented. His connections in the scene proved vital, as DJ’s, collectors and others would keep handing him the keys to their collections; with the intent they be sold on commission. Essentially speaking, ‘pimping’ their collection. Thus a new era began, one aptly named: Vinyl Pimp. In the 11 years of Vinyl Pimp, names such as Ben Sims, Giles Peterson, Doc Scott, and Phil Asher all flocked to Hon to flog their wares. As a collector, selector, and businessman, the breadth of content passing through his hands broadened his tastes ad infinitum. As the years went by this expanded further afield into Jazz, Disco, House, Ambient, and Experimental.
