about
We've revived the PUSH residency at our fave club oma and in the new series of flyers, Frankie Lam and AKW will pay tribute to the various albums that shaped our musical brains as youngsters. The PUSH team grew up listening to it all - hip hop, disco, house, metal, jazz, rock, techno, soul, rock, funk, electro, reggae, punk - and we want to give a shout to the tunes that not only shaped our approach to music, but to life as well. The first one comes from AKW - it's a bit obvious but had to be done. Punk rock hit him like a sledgehammer when he first discovered it aged around 10 and it's influenced pretty much everything he's done since. Frankie's album is up next. The first of the new PUSH nights at oma is on Friday March 20 - we won't be playing any punk rock but slam dancing will still be welcomed.

  • AKW

Adam was a pioneer of the 1990s breakbeat movement in Hong Kong, and later evolved into one of the most influential DJs in the city’s techno scene. A long-standing music journalist, AKW has a love of music that stretches back decades, and this shows in his mixsets which combine everything from throbbing electro, soaring house and hard techno. As the team’s media strategist and public-relations manager, AKW has laid out the plan for PUSH’s domination of the local dance music scene – and has big ideas in mind for the future.

During the past 20 years Frankie Lam has earned a reputation as arguably the No 1 DJ in Hong Kong through a combination of hard work, breathtaking talent and true passion for music. Whether it’s through his supporting appearances alongside the world’s top DJs visiting Hong Kong, his events with organisations such as PUSH and Intermix, his headline slots at top Hong Kong music festivals like Clockenflap and Rockit, or his lessons given to famous local DJs such as actor Sam Lee, and Kit and Phat from LMF, Frankie Lam has left a permanent mark on Hong Kong’s nightlife scene. With a musical style that takes in everything from huge electronic club tracks through to more chill-out styles, Frankie is a versatile performer who is known as the “DJ’s DJ” among his peers in Hong Kong.

  • OMA is proudly one of Hong Kong's only dedicated club for underground house, Techno, Trance ,bass & break music , which boast more watts per square foot than any other venue you can imagine. The rough cosiness in a petite but yet bombastic environment with a massive screen playing to your mind with crystal-clear (HD) psychedelic graphic patterns over few drinks is one of a kind experience not many clubs can offer. The same spot has played host for over 12 years to a large and ever-loyal clientele and new customers alike in various guises, namely, Phi-b's, Yumla & then Midnight & Co. OMA was born in 2014 to carry on the fine traditions it has inherited and had taken fun to the next level. It continued the no fuss, underground madness, where music and ONLY music matters with the best local and overseas DJs gracing the booth and letting the music to do the rest of the talking. In the 6th year under this badge, OMA had invested heavily in upgrading the decoration (whilst maintaining the original New York and Detroit underground music loft culture) and in June 2019 we have further installed expensive new music systems & hardware to supplement the improved decoration. Precision Devices drivers (as used in Funktion-1 speakers) and best Lab Gruppen amplifiers and award winning mixers (Xone-96 & Midas Venice F16) were added to the booth stable together with dbx 4800 crossovers to up the music a few more notches. Come and feel the difference...you won’t regret your visit and maybe addicted to the sounds!
