The Melbourne Techno Collective is the longest running TechnoThe Melbourne Techno Collective is the longest running Techno event series in Melbourne if not Australia and for the past 18 years this collective has expanded beyond the original 5 friends that just wanted to hang out and play music they loved and has grown into an institution unto itself. Born in a dodgy pub in Richmond, they moved on to the Portland hotel for a few shows, they then settled and found a home in the basement of the now gone iconic, Mercat Cross. The Melbourne Techno Collective have run events all across the city during the last 18 years from the Espy to the Railway Hotel to New Guernica and all that’s in between. Over the years MTC has transitioned from a weekly night with local artists to a monthly showcases hosting some of the biggest names in the industry and in recent years found a home at New Guernica. This location has a strong history with the Melbourne party goers as it was the location of the infamous F4 nightclub and later was completely transformed into New Guernica complete with a Kitchen for a side room and Willy Wonka-esq wall paper.
