Section 8, Crown Ruler and The Operatives have teamed up for 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗶𝗱; an initiative helping our extended music + hospo family affected by the ongoing lockdowns.
We're hosting a twelve hour soiree (loungeroom hoon) next Saturday, the 11th of September – featuring an array of our friends including Emma Volard, Elle Shimada, Komang, Khiarra; movement artist Magg.Z, DJ SPELL, FOURA, JPS, College of Knowledge Records, Walla C, Kgmotoso, Naru, Mr Pitiful, The Phantom Sun, DJ Smilez + Lori.

    Melbourne artist DJ Smilez -- known for his curated sets and infectious vibe, has fans calling his unique experience "the Smilez effect". A local to the city of Melbourne, Australia – DJ Smilez has been recognized to have changed the path from a nightclub DJ to one of the most respected within the industry. He made a name for himself not only for his choice of music but for the energy he brings when playing – by championing a sound that blends Latin Rhythms, Brazilian Drums and Hip-Hop – otherwise known as the genre Baile Funk.

    嶋田会希 – Elle Shimada is a violinist, producer, curator, DJ and multi-instrumentalist from Tokyo based in Melbourne. Fluidly fusing Tokyo’s futuristic underground sound with influences from London and Detroit House, Shimada’s production and live sets are a kinetic succession of dance beats and abstract compositions. Shimada has independently collaborated with a myriad of artists in Melbourne and overseas, performing and recording with Clever Austin, Paul Bender (Hiatus Kaiyote), Jace XL, Allysha Joy and Dufresne – music that can be found on releases by Worldwide FM and Stamp The Wax. With an undercurrent of feminism, cultural curiosity and a political mindset, Shimada’s musicianship been shown on stages supporting Lonnie Liston Smith, Giles Peterson and The Australian Art Orchestra.

    With his determination and passion for music, Charles-Eddy Vitry (Mr. Pitiful) landed his first residency in 2001 at the era-defining Parisian nightclub: Les Bains Douches, quickly making a name for himself on the Paris club scene, followed by stints in New York, Montreal and Switzerland and Australia. With a perplexing ability to mix anything from rock ‘n’ roll to electro; soul to house; acid jazz to minimal tech, Mr Pitiful has played alongside international and local artists at venues and festivals including Strawberry Fields, 161, Revolver, Toff In Town, Railway Hotel, My Aeon, Lounge, Section 8, St Jerome’s, Third Class and Glamorama.
