̸BIOGRAPHY
London born, Caribbean in spirit. Founder of Touching Bass. NTS Radio host (fortnightly), music journalist, curator and ex-Boiler Room music programmer.
With roots firmly anchored in his Caribbean heritage, Errol is making a name for himself as one of the UK’s most promising young DJs, broadcasters and music curators across the soulful spectrum. He’s the leading light behind Touching Bass: a movement of London-based soul disciples who hold down a biweekly NTS Radio slot, an innovative discussion/live music series called Speaking In Sound and a regular dance (specifically not called a party and communicated via texting service) among other creative endeavours.
Over the last four years — heavily influenced by the openness of musical institutions like Plastic People — the TB Dance has become a playground for musical exploration. As founder and main resident, Errol has cultivated a space and DJing style unbounded by genre and lead by feeling, with talented local selectors and heavyweights equally likely to grace the decks as guests. It’s also a place where emphasis is firmly placed on good energy, dance and community above all.
This attitude is steadily taking him further across UK and international dancefloors, with a debut Australia/Japan tour in March 2018 (with Alex Rita) and appearances at Field Day (warming up for Erykah Badu), Dimensions (2016/2017), Worldwide (2018) and Brainchild (2017/2018) festivals. Add to that multiple appearances at cultural institutions including the ICA, BFI (for the UK premiere of Black Panther) and TATE Britain/Modern.
Errol’s dedication to resurfacing the old and introducing new music to audiences as a curator, journalist and NTS Radio host/broadcaster also hasn’t gone unnoticed.
In the space of three years, he played a pivotal role in shaping Boiler Room’s music programming, bringing the likes of Yussef Kamaal (first ever gig), Yasiin Bey (fka Mos Def), Co-Op, Khruangbin, Ezra Collective, Anderson Paak, Donna Leake, Nerija, Nick Hakim, Moor Mother, Oshun, Alice Coltrane's Sai Anantam Ashram Singers, Kojey Radical, Onyx Collective, Moonchild, Farai and more to the world-renowned online platform.
Anchoring it all is a love of dancing, bringing people together and an enthusiasm to connect the many musical strands from across the globe.
