̸BIOGRAPHY
Music Lover
For some DJs, music will forever be in the foreground of their mind; every free moment is spent searching for new music or conceiving ways to blend new discoveries. Italian born Budino is one of these DJs, hers is a constant quest for fresh material to weave in her sets – sets that exist in clubbers minds as glorious psychedelic tapestries sewn from dark trance-inducing beats, tribal percussion and rich cosmic textures. Given this dedication and dexterity it’s unsurprising that praise is heaped so readily on Budino’s sets. After moving to Berlin and playing throughout the city since the age of eighteen, she was soon co-running the party series Oscillator at the now defunct and much lamented iconic club Griessmühle, along with its sister vinyl only label. She soon became a mainstay behind the decks at the infamous institution of queer hedonism that is Cocktail d’Amore and has since held a residency there for many years. With a diligence to seek out the perfect music for every moment, Budino has spent many years honing her craft creating unique edits that breathe versatility into the music she has dug deep to find. This often means when you hear her play, it may well be the only moment ever in which will you ever hear that version. However, a handful of these edits have seen the light of day on New York vinyl label JustWhatTheWorldNeeds. Budino has also been responsible for curating the fourth edition of Love International festival’s compilation series ‘The Sound of Love International’’. It reflects her interpretation of the ideal soundtrack for an endless and idyllic day into the night on the beaches of Tisno on the Adriatic coast, nodding to her comprehensive taste as a selector. With her enthusiasm, devotion and impeccable ear for music, Budino continues to go from strength to strength as a DJ and has plenty more of her passion to share with dance floors around the world.

  • Gabrielle Kwarteng

New York-born DJ and Lot Radio resident Gabrielle Kwarteng is on a steady, slow-burning rise upward. Her guest shows won her a Mixcloud Online Radio Award and a regular slot, which garnered her a loyal following and led to bookings across NY and beyond. Gabrielle Kwarteng’s journey so far is one of passion, dedication and the occasional strike of fate. Born and raised in New York, Kwarteng’s name has recently risen in prominence throughout a challenging time for dance music and club culture. A DJ, radio host and curator, her sets have recently enchanted Panorama Bar in Berlin (four times in less than twelve months, no less), equally vital club spaces such as NYC’s Nowadays and Manchester’s own White Hotel, as well as a span of festivals including Love International, Glastonbury, Melt and Dekmantel Selectors. Listening to Kwarteng, whether in a cavernous rave hall, a sweat-soaked underground club or making intimate selections on the radio, is an experience that feels at once familiar but always energizing. Kwarteng’s diverse taste and open-mindedness lead first, allowing her to fluidly slip through a mix of heady 80s and 90s NY house, disco interpretations that traverse diaspora and eras, percussive passages alongside boldly broken beats and, as the lights get lower, an undeniable acid undercurrent. In an era of everything at once, Kwarteng weaves stories for the dancefloor that often look to the past, but always focus on possible futures. Kwarteng arrived at this position via a mixture of study and circumstance. Born in Brooklyn to Ghanaian parents but raised in the Bronx, her childhood was soundtracked by a mix of first-wave Highlife, Afrobeat and disco. Outside her front door, in a thriving neighborhood of diverse American experiences, entire sounds and scenes expanded and exploded as pop-culture began to mutate in new ways, both online and off. Crossing to Manhattan for school, the tempo changed entirely as rock, hip hop and experimental music filled Kwarteng’s ears while she studied intensely. Her academic focus was paramount, but Kwarteng couldn’t help but drift back towards the beat. First, from sciences to arts, where, at an esteemed upstate New York university, her dedication to trawling music blogs rendered Kwarteng the de facto DJ for house parties. She also began broadcasting on college radio; her daybreak show was a particular hit with professors arriving to work early to mark before lectures. Bouncing back to New York, Kwarteng continued to present a show on the burgeoning online radio station The Lot. In 2017, she was presented with the Mixcloud Online Radio Award for Best Eclectic Show, an early and completely unexpected acknowledgement of an instinct for music that traversed genre expectations. In parallel, Kwarteng played each and every Saturday night in the majestic ballroom of the SoHo Grand, amassing vinyl for a residency that helped define the uptown musical scene with her own downtown sensibilities. Now based in Europe, Kwarteng continues to criss-cross not only genres, but continents. Overcoming her inherent introversion to nervously approach Giles Peterson at a record store in Paris proved fortuitous; so impressed was the storied DJ by Kwarteng’s show on local station Le Mellotron, he invited her to appear at his own festival, Worldwide. Appearances at suitably open-minded spaces in Madrid, London, Bristol, Copenhagen and Kyiv soon followed. Wherever she performs, Kwarteng’s expertise serves to not only continue the championing of Black American genres such as house, techno and disco, but equally, to explore the continuum of global dance music as a whole. Having laid the foundations for a unique musical journey, it’s a level of respect that’s tangible on any dancefloor. In these increasingly sacred spaces, Gabrielle Kwarteng’s personal passion translates into collective ecstasy. The dig continues.

  • Cormac

Primed to become an ‘overnight success’ in a similar way all overnight successes break-through; following many years of hard-work, Cormac is currently one of dance music’s best-kept secrets. With a rapidly growing reputation as a revered selector, the Northern Ireland born DJ is setting a course for dancefloors the world over with his sound that comprises the breadth of the house and techno spectrum, but with one defining characteristic; always records that touch the inner sanctum of the human spirit. Since he began collecting music as a teenager near Belfast, his journey has been singularly driven by the discovery of amazing sounds, and his humble role in the constantly renewed potential for dancefloor transcendence. Having traded in an all-too-quiet rural Irish life for the hedonism and high times of a very different London in the early 00s, Cormac was a regular dancer at zeitgeist defining institutions such as Trash, Nag Nag Nag and Bugged Out.

  • Palms Trax

Palms Trax is a producer and Dj based in Berlin, Germany. His first record was released in October of 2013 on London-based imprint Lobster Theremin. For aspiring DJs and producers, or indeed anyone who appreciates a good story, the genesis of Palms Trax couldn’t have read any dreamier. You know the one; curious yet naive son of the English Riviera lands a job at one of London’s leading record stores and discovers the masters of Chicago house and Detroit techno. Later, stumbling around Berlin, his primitive attempts to emulate the sound of his newfound heroes accidentally land him a bona fide dance floor hit. A gradual but steady stream of EPs courtesy of Dutch dance music powerhouse Dekmantel have allowed his productions to blossom in richer, smoother directions. On 2015’s ‘In Gold’ EP, and throughout the following year’s ‘High Point on Low Ground’, halcyon hallmarks of house - euphoric piano lines, bubbling acid and luminescent keys - are shot through with Donaldson’s tough, distinctive percussion. It’s that same connection with Dekmantel that has encouraged Donaldson to quickly, impressively evolve as a DJ of some distinctive taste and talent. A memorable performance at Dekmantel’s flagship Amsterdam festival in 2015 captured open hearts, lost minds and aching feet. Since then, the sound of Palms Trax has been a fixture on their enormous main stage, drifting seamlessly between vintage house, esoteric disco and the various shades of a bubbling UK underground he has helped define. Occasional back-to-back performances with the likes of Hunee, Young Marco, Antal and Midland, all DJs regularly credited for their breadth of musical knowledge and sheer versatility, speak volumes for Donaldson’s DJing nous, which has lead him on an international trail; from South America to Australia, and from Panorama Bar to Concrete, Contact, De School, and Lux. Donaldson has also-amassed a patient, open-minded following with his cult monthly radio show, the decidedly less-than-culinary ‘Cooking with Palms Trax’, broadcast on Berlin Community Radio since 2015. On each show, Donaldson takes a deep, vinyl-led drive into his adopted history, fostering a level of trust and shared curiosity that has allowed him to helm all-night sets under the ‘Cooking with Palms Trax’ moniker. Into 2018, he’ll be holding down residencies in Boston, Glasgow and Bordeaux, as well as inviting like-minded DJs into his metaphorical kitchen, throughout a series of self-curated evenings into early mornings of music.

  • Young Marco

Amsterdam based DJ and producer that also runs his Safe Trip label. There was a time when Marco Sterk a.k.a. Young Marco’s talents as a DJ and producer were among Amsterdam’s best-kept secrets. For well over a decade, he plied his trade, largely unheralded, on the city’s underground dance music scene. It was here, via several now infamous residencies, that he learnt his craft, gaining a reputation for ballsy, genre-defying eclecticism, playing sets that joined the dots between everything from tropical rhythms, afro gems and quirky Middle Eastern disco, to lost proto-house, throbbing techno and industrial-strength jack-tracks. These days, the Dutchman’s talents are widely known around the World. His position as a crate digger, record collector and infamous party-starter now guarantees a packed schedule of gigs in Europe, North America and beyond. His passion for working a dancefloor with “strange music” and “unclassics” is renowned, and it’s this that makes his sets so special. This humid, off-kilter obsession with the inspired and unusual has become a hallmark of Marco’s music, too. Once a key part of the Rush Hour family – the legendary Amsterdam label releasing a number of his early singles – in 2011 he made his debut on Lovefingers’ highly regarded ESP Institute label. His first two EPs for the label set out his now-trademark style, and won support from the likes of Dixon and James Murphy, amongst others, along the way. It’s perhaps unsurprising that a string of remix requests followed, leading to now classic reworks for the likes of Heatsick, Joakim, Francis Bebey and Soft Rocks. His 2013 remix of Tony G’s “Dreams”, a killer chunk of blissful new age deep house, became one of the most in-demand and sought after records of that year. At the tail end of 2015, the best of these remixes were gathered together on Sorry For The Late Reply, the first release on Marco’s freshly minted Safe Trip imprint. 2014 saw the release of his most accomplished studio work to date, the superb debut album Biology on ESP Institute. Wonderfully picturesque, melodious, humid and glassy-eyed, it received rave reviews and confirmed his status as one of electronic music’s truly unique voices. The same year also saw the release of Clouds, a magical collaborative fulllength written and produced in a weekend with Italian ambient pioneer Gigi Masin and British artist Jonny Nash. Credited to Gaussian Curve and released by Amsterdam’s Music From Memory label, it was the unfeasibly beautiful sound of three like-minded musicians working towards a shared goal. In 2017, Marco is as busy as ever. He’ll be hitting the road April onwards with Gaussian Curve for a handful of live dates around the world in support of their second album The Distance, while his contribution to Dekmantel’s series of crate-digging compilations, Selectors, is due to hit in March. His own label – Safe Trip – will be picking up steam with a string of releases that explore electronic music in many different directions. As usual, you’ll also find him spreading his love of weird, wonderful and eccentric music in basements, warehouses and clubs the world over.

  • AGY3NA

̸BIOGRAPHY ✨🧑🏿‍🦱✨ AGY3NA grew up in Nürnberg, a city in Bavaria, Germany. At a young age, he first got in touch with music through different ensembles, where he played both baritone and percussion. Ignited by his early endeavors into Berlin’s gay nightlife, he began DJing at local clubs and bars. He soon started to perform regularly back home in Nürnberg, while also curating and organizing concerts and parties as part of an independent promoter collective. By mixing music from different genres and decades, AGY3NA often creates a feeling of nostalgia on the dancefloor, while always keeping his focus on playful rhythms and uplifting transitions. When he stands behind the decks, AGY3NA connects to his own feelings of freedom on the dancefloor. His music selection gravitates towards spacey, explorative, and rhythm-focused House and Electro. Afrofuturism, an aesthetic that explores the intersection of African culture and futuristic icons, plays a leading role in his artistic work. It not only connects his intrinsic urge for experimentation with his artistic expression, but also links it with his identity as a black man growing up in Germany. His projects are a result of the frictions related to this intersectional identity, which creates a unique narrative that cannot be ignored when listening to his music. After finishing his first degree in psychology, AGY3NA moved to Berlin to pursue a masters in cognitive science, while finetuning his DJing skills. Two years later, he moved to Leipzig, where he currently parallels his music projects with his research interests.

But join the dots and you’ll see that for Barcelona’s Baldo, each of these represent the many strings to his bow. As a producer, Baldo’s discography speaks for itself. Gerd Janson’s Running Back, Step Recordings and a soon-to-land EP on leftfield outfit E-Beamz showcase the breadth of his output. He’ll shortly be releasing on his own imprint Physical Education, and on Permanent Vacation too, joining the likes of Fort Romeau and Lauer. It’s now a go-to service for several of the scene’s leading imprints, including Limousine Dream, Butter Side Up, Haŵs Music, Mindhelmet and Slapfunk to name a few. As a multiple label-owner, his Physical Education, Curated By Time and BLD Tape Recordings imprints represent the styles that make him tick. A ‘90s re-release of Affie Yusuf here, a hard-edged acid offering under his BLD alias there… the productions span across the board, embodying his musical tastes through-and-through. Add to that his former residency at seminal Barcelona nightspot Razzmatazz, one that he’s held down for nearly a decade, and you’ll quickly learn that Baldo’s involvement in dance music runs deep. And at the core of it? His love for music. Now that’s something we can all salute.

̸BIOGRAPHY One minute he’s rocking the roof off at Fabric with his tough and funky big-room underground house; the next he’s charming the pants off a more intimate crowd with everything from dubby disco, funk and hip-hop to trip hop and Latin batucadas. Armed wit.. One minute he’s rocking the roof off at Fabric with his tough and funky big-room underground house; the next he’s charming the pants off a more intimate crowd with everything from dubby disco, funk and hip-hop to trip hop and Latin batucadas. Armed with a sensitivity and sense of occasion that few DJs possess Bill Brewster knows how to work a crowd in the best possible sense. Originally a chef, a football pundit (co-editor of fanzine When Saturday Comes) and record collector, Bill began DJing in in the late 80s, but he cut his teeth playing ‘Low Life’ warehouse parties in Harlem and the East Village – he moved to NYC to run DMC’s US operation – and anyone hearing Bill today can see how these New York ‘roots’ shine through. For eclecticism, surprises, amazing unique music and sheer long-haul dedication to the dancefloor, Bill’s your man. His other life is as a writer. Together with long-term pal Frank Broughton, Bill is author of the definitive history of DJing, Last Night A DJ Saved My Life, and has contributed his acid Grimsby wit and encyclopaedic knowledge of music to just about every dance rag there is, not to mention The Guardian, Independent and Mail On Sunday. The Brewster-Broughton double act unveiled their latest hit in 2002 with the uniquely sardonic DJ manual How To DJ (Properly). They have recently completed an updated version of Last Night A DJ Saved My Life that will be published in June, along with a double CD from Universal. He’s an industry insider, having brought Twisted records to the UK and launched his own highly successful deep house label Forensic. In his spare time he is often found in the studio, either with Fat Camp partner, Theo Noble, re-editing old disco, funk and rock records; or producing original music. They run a small edit label Disco Sucks. As his hero Kid Creole would say, 'Annie I'm not your daddy.' WHAT THE PRESS SAY ABOUT BILL “Brilliant.” Mixmag “What Bill Brewster doesn’t know about disc jockeying is probably not worth knowing.” Jockey Slut “What’s the best reason for playing a record? Because you love it. What’s the best reason for starting a party? Because no one else is doing it like you can. It’s pretty simple really, but so many DJs and promoters forget what got them excited in the first place. Bill Brewster hasn’t. The encouragement of DJs like Rocky (X-Press 2) and Jon ‘Beloved’ Marsh and promoters like Nikki Smith at Fabric (who rave about him) has spurred him on and club crowds are responding, too.” Time Out “One of Fabric’s heroes is behind the decks for one of his multi-genre embracing sessions. It’s going to be a late one.” Metro “The glamorous and bewitching Bill Brewster steps up to the ones and twos for more high-quality action. “ Tim Out New York “You know people who memorise every release and DJ shoe size right back to 1875? That’s the Faith posse, that is. Led by Terry Farley and Bill Brewster, they’re a bit long in the tooth now – they’d have to be to have this musical knowledge – but this is simply unmissable: beautiful, varied and at times even tear-jerking.” Ministry on Faith Vol 1 CD “The greatest book ever written about dance music.” Daily Mirror on Last Night A DJ Saved My Life ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY Group Therapy - Arty-Fact (Kamera Records, 1982) Superstars Of Rock - Orange Sunshine (World Discotheque Movement Mix) (5X0-294, 1994) Various - Praxis (Hooj Choons, 2002) Mixed Jackson 5 - Body Language (Fat Camp Edit) (Motown, 2005) Fat Camp - Don't Blame Us 4 The Boogie (Disco Sucks, 2005) Imagine Magic (BB Edit) (Anorak, 2009) Hotel Motel - Paying The Price/Novak (Under The Shade, 2010) Hotel Motel - Eye No (Home Taping, 2010)

Searing with Sichuan spice – Cora is bringing the heat from Chengdu. Orbiting the cosmic specters of techno, trance, house, bass and breakbeat, Cora’s ever-evolving sound delivers with compelling momentum and astral intuition – superimposing dramatic subplots and emotional undertows onto unfurling rhythmic narratives, while channeling an acute sensitivity to the kinetic desires of the dancefloor. All-night basement parties in the sleepless underbelly of Hong Kong’s OMA at the fulcrum of the ‘10s initiated Cora’s swift departure from the glitz and glamour of a long-time modelling career and stint as an indie film actor, towards an inspired pursuit of electronic energies and club music catharsis. An intercontinental dance savant, raving from China to Saigon and beyond – Cora has been a vital force in activating meridians between underground club scenes in East Asia and the rest of the world. Incubated over years of work, sweat and tears at dedicated nightspots The Observatory in Ho Chi Minh City and .TAG Chengdu, her nuanced aesthetic and penchant for ephemeral grooves have now synthesized into a sophisticated style of her own. • Crazy P

̸BIOGRAPHY Fusing slinky underground disco, deep electronic throbs, shimmering pop moments; this is dance music with a voice, a heart, and soul. With one of the best live dance music shows on the planet, Crazy P have been leaving their mark on the landscape of British dance music for the last 15 years. To trace the origins of Crazy P we have to go all the way back to 1996. This was the year that brought together James Baron and Chris Todd. It was the era of Ataris, Akais and bedroom studios and, through their love of bending and reshaping old records from many different genres, a production partnership was born in the backstreets of Nottingham. After a couple of releases under various different monikers, the work attracted the ears of deep house label Paper Recordings based in Manchester and the creature that is Crazy P was born. We won’t bore you all with and year by year history of what happened next and how we ended up with a name like Crazy P as rumour and speculation are far more interesting than the truth. Their first four albums ‘A Nice Hot Bath With’(1999), ‘The Wicked Is Music’ (2002), and ’24 Psychedelic Freakout’ (2003), and ‘A Night On Earth’ (2004), coupled with the addition of live band members Tim Davies, Matt Klose, and the vocals of the inimitable Danielle Moore saw Crazy P gain acclaim, record sales, DJ gigs, and most pertinently, live shows, across the world. Equally at home on huge outdoor festival stages in Australia or basement sweatboxes in East London, Crazy P have made their name with a unerring combination of lushly structured songs and live power, whilst never forgetting their roots on the dance floors of the late 90s’ house, disco, and soul clubs. 2008 saw Crazy P sign with 2020 Vision – a natural fit for the band with their their roots in early house and techno, and an eye to the future of both. ‘Stop Space Return’ (2008) was the superb first fruit of this new label hook up, with the album’s title track becoming something of an anthem for both DJs and as part of the band’s live show. Preceding the return to fashion for disco and boogie by about two years, ‘Stop Space Return’ showed a new breed of producers that Crazy P were right on top of their game – with the ‘new school’ of Artists like Jamie Jones, Wolf and Lamb, Reboot, and KiNK on the phone for remixes, alongside pop acts such as VV Brown, Empire of the Sun, and Sam Sparro who all wanted a little bit of discoid magic All of which brings us bang up into 2011. The start of the year saw them releasing ‘Crazy P presents MTS Vol.1’ a two track EP of ‘bangers’ influenced by their increasingly busy DJ and Soundsystem show schedule – and a nice drop of ‘P’ business whilst they finished off their new, and fifth album. Just released on 2020 Vision, the brand new album ‘When We On’ is already being hailed as one of their finest. • Danielle

̸BIOGRAPHY When a true selector takes flight, it sounds as though they re-mould each track to fit their specific vision. That’s exactly the effect Danielle has as a DJ, drawing across stylistic divides to create an instinctive groove which is all her own. On top of a foundational core of house, techno and electro she folds in myriad sonic wildcards to create dynamic, innovative variations on the club music experience. It’s logical her tastes would be omnivorous – Danielle spent 10 years working at fabled London record shop Phonica, one of the definitive destinations for dance music in the city, as well as a lengthy tenure at iconic Bristol store Idle Hands. Being across new releases week in, week out is one thing, but knowing how to stitch them together is another. From the breakthrough years perfecting the craft of a great warm-up to her long-standing residency on NTS Radio since 2017, Danielle shaped her approach to DJing from a free-thinking, fluid angle which still rings true now she’s more commonly found at the top of the bill. Danielle’s DJing has touched upon vital events, venues and locations around the world, from touring the US and playing flagship festivals like Glastonbury, Dimensions, Kala and Love International, to clubs like DC10, Fabric, The White Hotel, Corsica Studios and Tresor, holding down a residency season for Colour Factory in London and Left Bank in Tbilisi, and frequently picked for parties as revered as Timedance, Herrensauna and Livity Sound. In tandem, her skills have been recognised by key publications including Mixmag, DJ Mag (she was nominated as a best breakthrough DJ in 2020) and Resident Advisor. Beyond her own DJ work (she’s also a frequent contributor to many a mix series), Danielle also takes the time to impart her experience and knowledge to the next generation via her classes at Mix Nights – a non-profit organisation she helped set up seven years ago to encourage women and non-binary people to explore the art of DJing. Elsewhere, she works in an A&R and consultancy capacity for Team Love – a role which speaks to her consistent instinct for new developments within club music. Similarly, her label Soft Raw was founded in 2022 as a platform to champion the fresh talent she comes across in her position as a revered DJ. All these elements feed into the overall mission Danielle is on, pursuing her love of dynamic, physical soundsystem music with errant coding in its DNA. Keyed into new revolutions in the ever-evolving culture of the dancefloor, Danielle melds her impeccable taste together with fierce commitment and flair, delivering the impulse to move and presenting wholly new ideas to any crowd, any party, any time, anywhere.

  • DAR DISKU

̸BIOGRAPHY Dar Disku is an independent record label and dj collective founded in 2019 and based between London and Bahrain - championing the sounds of the Middle East, Asia and beyond. 'Dar-Disku' comes from the 1970s Egyptian pop culture magazine of the same name and directly translates into 'home of the disco'. Dar Disku is a label celebrating music from across Arabia. Founded by Mazen AlMaskati and Vish Matre in 2019; the label encompasses all things High NRG, New Beat, Strange and Pure. Growing up less than a mile apart in Bahrain with a shared fascination with discovering new music, the duo quickly bonded over digging for unheard rarities and burning mixtapes to show friends and strangers, and till today, this remains changed. Whether at a house party, over a traditional Bahraini meal or at a local underground gig, chats about left field music would always spiral from one artist to the next and back, but more and more, talks about music turned into talks about culture and soon enough; home. Mazen and Vish left Bahrain with pockets full of Radiohead, Aphex Twin, Daft Punk and Benga. But looking back across the water, the music their parents played on dusty turntables, the art and culture that surrounded them their entire lives became more than nostalgic, it became hypnotically fascinating. From learning about the microtonal arrangements in Farsi music to learning south Indian polyrhythms and the almost forgotten 1970s punk rock and psychedelia movements in Egypt, Lebanon and Iran, they couldn’t help but think, what comes next? Both have spent the last few years discovering incredible sub-genres such as Khaliji hiNRG, Rai, ArabiDisco, Habibi House, Sawt and Bollywood and within quick succession, Dar Disku has shared the stage with artists such as Four Tet, Habibi Funk, Nabihah Iqbal, Young Marco, Palms Trax and Esa and have played iconic venues and festivals across the world (recent stops include Mumbai, Istanbul, Paris, Bahrain, Lost Village Festival, Lovebox Festival, Glastonbury Festival & more). Dar Disku have also been featured on Nabihah Iqbal's BBC Radio residency, for which they curated a guest mix inspired by night time drives in Bahrain, featured as Mixmag's 'Breakthrough DJ of 2021' and have recently been named as residents on the iconic Worldwide FM. The label's first release 'DD 001' featured a heavyweight edit from label collaborator 'Moving Still' and has received critical acclaim from the likes of Resident Advisor, Clash, Mille World and i-D. Fast forward into summer 2019, Dar Disku Records have released DD002, a Moving Still edit of 'Sidi Mansour' by Algerian pop star, 'Cheba Yamina' (Resident Advisor Track of the Year). Their latest 'DD003 and DD004' releases have been played on dance-floors from London to Lisbon, Mumbai to Moscow and Amsterdam to Amman by the likes of DJ Seinfeld, Esa, Job, Palms Trax, Hunee and more. Mixmag recently named 'DD005' as one of their 'best EP's of 2022'. With five releases already under the belt, they continue to dig deeper into the forgotten crates of the middle-east. Dar Disku's live sets have been described as “a journey across Arabia and beyond delving into a voyage into the unknown”, switching from 'skippy dance rhythms to boisterous traditional folk instrumentals' . With bookings such as Boiler Room and Palms Trax' XOYO residency - one thing for certain, however, is their tendency to create eclectic and spontaneous selections which transport audiences into lands far away. ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY DAR DISKU 001 DAR DISKU 002 DAR DISKU 003 DAR DISKU 004 DAR DISKU 005

  • Darshan Jesrani

̸BIOGRAPHY Darshan Jesrani is a Brooklyn-based recording artist and DJ most known for his promotion of disco and other classic influences within contemporary dance music. Darshan Jesrani’s recording project “Metro Area” (together with partner Morgan Geist) has left an indelible mark on the dance music landscape. Known for its forward-looking, freestyle recombination of influences, Metro Area’s work revolves around experiments with classic production styles and the songwriting focus of disco, new-wave/synth-pop and R&B. Metro Area has injected much needed doses of funk, sensuality, mood and space back into the loop-based and seldom-subtle world of underground dance. Their 2002 debut album elicited superlative responses from The New York Times to The Onion, from web-logs to the Wire. Metro Area won a place among Rolling Stone’s “Top 50 Albums of 2002”, a rock and rap-dominated list for which most club/dance projects are not even considered. Further accolades include BBC/Radio 1’s “Dance Album of the Year” and a “Best New Artist” prize at the 2003 DanceStar/American Dance Awards. In 2007, Darshan caught the collective ear with his co-writing, production and remix work (alongside Ewan Pearson and Klas “Sasse” Lindblad) on “It’s All True”, the debut single from beloved UK singer Tracey Thorn’s (Everything but the Girl) solo album “Out of the Woods” (Virgin). This release made waves in broader arenas and was touted as a fresh and uplifting update of the Funhouse-style, vocal-led, New York City synth-pop sound of the early/mid-80s. Darshan’s extended “Parks Dept. Dub” remix of “Starlight”, an underground hit by celebrated and hungry New York disco upstarts Escort (July 2006) landed on the year-end top-10 lists of many DJs known for their selections and taste. Metro Area 7, the latest in a series of 12” EPs, was relelased November 2007 to superlative praise. Metro Area’s mix CD for Fabric (late 2008) was considered by Pitchfork to be both of one of the best modern disco mixes and one of the best in the series. In 2010 Resident Advisor named Metro Area’s “Miura” number 1 in their top 100 singles of the past decade, and their Metro Area album at number 2 in their top 100 albums of the past decade. Having completed the first phase of his studio, which operates out of a commercial loft in Brooklyn, Darshan is preparing a battery of material for release on his new Startree imprint, produced and distributed exclusively by Word and Sound. Startree’s first release “All-Night People” by Funn City was released at the end of 2013 and was included in Spin’s Top 50 dance singles of the year. The label’s second offering, “Disco Engine” by Cylinder, has just been released to early superlative praise from music writers and fellow producers alike, and is out right now. Darshan’s unique remixes for Permanent Vacation, Rekids, Escort and Mock & Toof, among others, have stood on their own as playable pieces of music, irrespective of the original works. • DJ Fuckoff

̸BIOGRAPHY Who is taking the global bass underground by storm? It’s DJ Fuckoff Bitch! The New Zealand-born DJ, Producer and MC has come a long way since arriving in Berlin with nothing but a dream and a backpack: From smashing warehouse raves, turning streams into fully-fledged dance-off’s or casually mashing-up renowned dance floors, Fuckoff’s relentless positive energy and refreshingly nonchalant style have earned her a serious hype and a loyal following. Breaking through under the unlikely circumstances of full lockdown and after her steamy HÖR debut went viral, Fuckoff’s productions instantly turned heads. With her signature provocative lyrics, breakneck speed and energy-laden twists, standouts like “B.I.M.B.” and her contribution to “Trick” by Dagga have become instantly recognizable DJ favorites that saw releases on the likes of International Chrome & none/such recordings. While her DJ debut had to be postponed for over a year, Fuckoff wasted no time to blow the roof off parties. Dealing dancefloor damage around Berlin & neighbouring countries, she serves a fast-paced mixing style with unapologetic blends across various shades of the hardcore spectrum. On top of her energetic mixing, her standout live PA’s add an extra threat to her shows, regularly sending ravers into a craze. While channeling a distinctively youthful energy, DJ Fuckoff’s roots go way back: Literally growing up at early Bush Doof’s organized by her parents, electronic music has been integral from the earliest of ages. After cutting her teeth as a producer and MC on throwback hip hop productions, her focus soon shifted to electronic music. While being thoroughly informed by previous generations of dance music, DJ Fuckoff's own take – as the name suggests – doesn’t fear eroding genres, standards and stereotypes.

  • DJ Gigola

̸BIOGRAPHY like gigolo, but Gigola Gigolo means Playboy, but the word originally derives from the ancient French "Gigole" which used to mean Dancing Woman. This makes DJ Gigola both, a dancing woman and a playboy. Where others see tension and contradiction, DJ Gigola sees a chance for creation. In her playful way of breaking down boundaries, she hits the Zeitgeist of a generation that continuously transforms and recontextualises seemingly fixed concepts and stereotypes. As a result, both her sets and productions are quint-essentially genre-fluid. Her critically acclaimed cutting edge releases take a hybrid approach, successfully blending boundaries between Dance and Pop music. On a night out, you might hear DJ Gigola mix Madonna out of an old Bonzai record and back into Surgeon all within 5 minutes. Her sets are enigmatic and reflect a natural sense of curiosity - eager to explore, she does not shy away from experimenting. As playful as DJ Gigola’s selection may seem, however, she rigorously weaves together seemingly disperse tracks with one common thread: rhythm. She experiences music primarily through the rhythmic structure emergent from patterns of percussion rather than layers of melodic harmonies. This deep understanding for rhythm and groove, combined with her multi-facetted knowledge of music and curious audacity to try new things makes DJ Gigola one of the most exciting DJs to experience on a dance floor.

̸BIOGRAPHY Having worked for over 16 years as a DJ, Jack is currently one of the hottest names on the Brazilian trance scene, and is recognized as one of the main reasons the style has become so popular all over the country. A hypnotic blend of groove with the melodies of trance is what can be expected from DJ Jack! Having worked for over 16 years as a DJ, Jack is currently one of the hottest names on the Brazilian trance scene, and is recognized as one of the main reasons the style has become so popular all over the country. Jack was nominated as “Best New Producer” at the 2008 DJ Sound Awards, which led to even greater international recognition. His recordings are included on the playlists of such renowned artists as Paul van Dyk, Judge Jules, Andy Moor, Marcel Woods, John O'Callaghan, Flash Brothers, Agnelli & Nelson, Solarstone, Eddie Halliwell, to name a few. He has produced tracks for labels Maelstrom (UK), Five AM (UK), Fraction Records (UK), Backlash (Bonzai) (BE), Discover Dark (UK), Bralli Records (BR), 40º Degrees Records (BR). Remixing is also something Jack has mastered, even having worked with Airbase, one of the icons of trance worldwide. In 2009, record company RC2 Music offered Jack the opportunity to launch of a new venture: Factor 4 Records, one of the first Brazilian labels dedicated to trance and progressive. His position as label manager allowed Jack to release the first compilation series of Brazilian trance tracks - “Energy BR presents Global Concept”, with additional help from Armada records. Jack is the creator and leader of Energy BR, the first and only nucleus of trance and progressive in Brazil, whose purpose is to spread the styles and their variants around the country. All the major players of the Brazilian scene are a part of this team, which is considered the largest nucleus of this style in all of Latin America. Another project headed by Jack is State of Trance, parties which were pioneer in the sense that they took a chance with trance. SOT quickly became the standard for the entire country, and has showcased such artists as Ali Wilson, Johan Gielen, Sean Tyas, Menno de Jong and BT (Brian Transeau). SOT events are held in famous nightclubs like Anzu or Pacha in São Paulo and Club Nox in Recife, where Jack is responsible for the organization and promotion, as well as being the resident DJ. His career began to skyrocket in August of 2000, when Jack was a finalist during the 1st Brazilian Challenge of Electronic Music DJs, Space Jungle – Hypnotic. In 2004, Jack was one of only 12 Brazilian DJs to participate in Found@Thirst, a competition of DJs from all over the globe, promoted by Heineken of Brazil. He is a regular contributor to Beatz Magazine and the website rraurl.com, the largest portal of electronic music in Latin America, where Jack hosts a highly rated podcast, iTrance. From 2004-09, Jack had his own program on Pure DJ, an influential webradio from Holland, and included in his lineup were residents Andy Moor, Cor Fijneman, Ronski Speed, DJ Shah, Pedro del Mar, Leon Bolier and Joop. Recognition of his work led to the invitation in 2007 from Club Lov.e, in São Paulo, to be resident for the Supernova project. Jack began to play all the important events around the country, placing him on the bill with international musicians Armin van Buuren (currently #1 in the world - DJ Mag), Markus Schulz, Aly & Fila, Sean Tyas, Kyau & Albert, Marcel Woods, Ali Wilson, Johan Gielen, George Acosta, Menno de Jong, Ed Real, AJ Gibson, Juan Atkins, Ade Fenton and Portia Surreal. Jack likes his sets to be eclectic and is influenced mainly by progressive and trance, which results in a euphoric combination. • DJ Manfredas

Manfredas. The name packs a hefty punch. After years spent amassing knowledge as a radio DJ, he took his talents to the club, where he’s been convincing the unconvinced ever since. This man has a serious gift for throwing his every physical move hammering home the strength of his musical convictions. From the unique way he palms the jog wheel, to the ardent torque of his dancing, music feels a little more impactful in his midst. As one of the key residents and programmers at Opium Club in Vilnius, where he runs his club night "Smala", Manfredas has been instrumental in creating a culture that has led some mega-respected DJs to call it their favourite club in the world. Space feels like a feedback loop of love, dramatic intensity, and open-minded passion that draws everyone deeper into the music. Fact: the best DJs are always residents. Fact: Opium just might be the best club in existence. Logic dictates our man is a champ.

DJ Tool With his roots deep in the Copenhagen DIY music scene Joachim Palsby, aka DJ TOOL, has been playing and collecting different music for more than a decade. After many years of playing punk, metal, and electronic noise music, he slowly developed an interest in techno and trance. For years he has been roaming the international dance floors as a loyal dancer and ended up behind the booth with the skills of all vinyl Djing. DJ TOOL is a classic example of a DJ that merges directly from the floor to the booth. He is the co-organizer and resident DJ of the queer party series Mala Junta. Mala Junta is a smaller intimate party with a focus on old school, faster and harder techno and trance that is merging in the city of Berlin. The party quickly became among Berlin's most recognized parties for its special music profile. His sets are an authentic and always well-executed blend of sexy techno and gloomy trance. The sound is old-school, hard and fast but always funky and uplifting. With a passion and expertise in longer sets, his closings are highly recommended.

  • Dr Banana

̸ BIOGRAPHY Record connoisseur, label boss, and sleight-of-hand specialist – Dr. B promises a rabbit-hole record bag, labrador-like energy, and a light-hearted, left-field approach to the dance. Dr.B’s roots are in UKG, growing a globally-recognised label slinging out toasty cuts from new producers and re-issues from the golden era, but this is just a slither of the London-born DJ’s eclectic collection. You only need to flick through his recent bumper to bumpers to see how far and wide he can go. Whether it’s meaty chunks of electro, techno, and minimal with Evan Baggs, cross-genre party starters alongside Bradley Zero, straight shellers with Interplanetary Criminal, or just throwing it down alone, he’ll bring a bag of belters whatever the weather, wherever the crowd. After establishing himself as one of the UK’s most in-demand selectors, the London-born DJ has taken operations worldwide. From the floating intimacy of Berlin’s Hoppetosse to the sheer scale of Glastonbury, Fabric’s brutal brickwork to the iconic caverns of Kiev’s Art Club Closer and Mkvtvarse in Georgia – local, national, and global venues are the workshops for Dr. B’s versatile trotters. If he’s not getting his stirling’s worth out of a treasured travel pillow, playing venues and festivals across the UK and beyond, you’ll find him shooting three-pointers, digging into next week, or kickin’ it in front of the box with a moderately-priced pho.

The Russian-born Tel Aviv native Marina Rubinstein (the honorific is strictly cosmetic) moved to Berlin in 2012, shortly after beginning to spin, and swiftly became one of the sharpest party d.j.s anywhere. A Dr. Rubinstein set is easy to recognize—it’s both stark and raucous, festooned with vintage-Roland TB-303 acid synth lines and an unforced bonhomie that’s rare in techno. She remains a committed dancer: “If I’m not playing, you won’t ever find me in a d.j. booth,” she recently said.

  • Efdemin

Efdemin is a mainstay of techno's days and nights. Berliner by choice he holds a residency at Berghain and operates his label naïf. Calm, cool and collected, Efdemin’s music is infused by elegant darkness, discreet beauty and the complete lack of jittery. With LPs and 12-inches for Dial, Curle and Ostgut Ton, his remixes (e.g. Depeche Mode), his Pigon project together with RNDM or his drone and ambient pieces under his original name Phillip Sollmann for instance, Efdemin is equally at home in very different circles. In the world of art as much as in the techno realm, and while moving from intelligent pop quotes into the universe of Sun Ra, he does the splits effortlessly and without overstretching it. A sonic thesaurus like his second album Chicago finds his place in Efdemin’s body of work as well as the stripped down funk of “Just A Track”, the urgency of “Acid Bells” or the straightforwardness of “Bergwein”. Going well along with all those gestures and desires is his own Label naïf. Accordingly named and vinyl only, it’s his outlet to release music from friends and allies that is close to his heart. http://ostgut.de/booking/artist/efdemin/discography

  • Ellie Stokes

̸BIOGRAPHY With individuality and experimentation at her core, Ellie Stokes is very much her own DJ. Having immersed herself in Bristol’s music scene since arriving in the late 00s, she could reasonably be considered a product of the city’s unique creative culture. Let’s sidestep tired ideas about trip hop and D&B for a second and focus on the West Country capital as a hotbed of broadminded experimentation, with a community ethos and supportive framework that encourages talent to shine through. Stokes was already working within the music industry when she started to channel her passion into DJing – she was working at vital independent venue The Love Inn, one of the hubs of Bristol’s underground music culture, where she’s now the booking agent and venue manager. When the female / non-binary Mix Nights DJ course began (helmed by leading lights such as Danielle and Daisy Moon), Stokes found the right nurturing environment to discover her instinct for selecting and spinning, initiating a career which has grown exponentially ever since. In 2018 she became a resident at Bristol’s leading club space Motion, and played life-affirming slots at premier league events and spaces such as Glastonbury, Love International, Warehouse Project, Love Saves The Day, Corsica Studios and Simple Things. As well as her dancefloor presence, where she’s likely to be plying leftfield house and techno tinged with industrial and 90s motifs, Stokes has a regular radio outlet via Bristol’s leading station, Noods. It’s on these shows her tastes truly open up, touching on ambient techno and electronica, all manner of wave-related sonics, EBM and much more besides. It’s a non-conformist style that favours individual expression over generic consistency, championing the omnivorous spirit of the times and presenting selections that feel honest, heartfelt and constantly surprising. Stokes’ musical endeavours reach beyond her DJing too – she also helps steer the city’s much-loved queer dance party Bitch, Please! and came on board as a partner in Futureboogie, which will soon branch out into a new label project in the near future. Her keen ear for the unusual and distinctive shine through in these ventures as much as when she’s on the decks, rounding out her positive contributions to all corners of the music scene in Bristol and beyond. She may be representative of the city as it stands right now, but Ellie Stokes is just as much her own vital energy in a tangled network of scenes, communities, parties and platforms that stretches out internationally.

  • Elninodiablo

̸BIOGRAPHY Elninodiablo's sound is conceptual and experimental - fusing organic sounds, field recordings, live instrumentation with synths and drum machines. Converging his club and DJing background with music production techniques Born on the beautiful but restless island of Cyprus, an environmentally idyllic place scarred by years of war, Stephanos Pantelas alias Elninodiablo began his journey in music collecting vinyl he would play on the airwaves of pirate radio stations. Though an inspirational crossroads of culture, Cyprus also proved to be rather unwelcoming towards LGBTQIA individuals, which soon prompted Stephanos to make the move to the ever effervescing city of London, whose electronic scene was booming in the mid-90s. From small bills to top-of-the-range discos, his DJing skills soon earnt him a resident position in the booth of some of the hottest gay clubs of the time, including Turnmills, Fabric and Heaven. Joining forces with Alan X, El Nino Diablo soon tried his hand at the art of remixing with outstanding contributions for Grammy-nominated Mexican band Kinky and British soul singer Mica Paris. This knowledge in production and jockeying, Stephanos would soon put it to broader use through his own eponymous PR platform; representing the likes of Horse Meat Disco, Salsoul Records, Jocelyn Brown, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Mulatu Astatke, Tegan & Sara, !K7, Strut Records and many more over the years. After eighteen years of grind in the English capital, time had come for Elninodiablo to explore new horizons. Packing his bags, Stephanos began the writing of a new chapter in his life. His sense-awakening voyage across the world took him to destinations as diverse as India, Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia, Brazil, the US, Australia, New Zealand - where he got to live amongst intentional communities, looking to expand his vision and get more in-tune with nature. With the help of meditation, yoga and the therapeutic movement (5Rhythms, Movement Medicine) he found the second breath he desperately needed, triggering off a real creative rebirth as a result. “When it comes to sound, I’m inspired by my natural surroundings and life experiences. I’m fascinated with how sound can be a lived-in encounter having transformative qualities for both the artist and the audience. I envision to create mini-worlds with each piece of music, transporting the listener into a journey that bridges the gap between the conscious and the unconscious.” Settled-down in Berlin since 2016, Elninodiablo is further developing his music production skills at Catalyst Music, the creative arts & technology institute sheltered at the legendary Funkhaus studios. Taking cues from his traveling experiences, his sound has bloomed into an essentially versatile mosaic of sounds - deftly moving the cursor from hypnagogic dubs to hard-hitting club material, via downtempo electronica, easternmost-infused harmonics and weightlessly soulful hybrids spanning much more than traditional genres could encapsulate; evocative of broad visual expanses, from the vastness of desert scapes to the lush greenery of tropical jungles, and other dreamy interstates. In addition to his solo musical projects, Elninodiablo is also part of 3-piece improvisation collective TMDG (The Most Dangerous Gay), which quite finely sums up his approach to sound and its aura: “With TMDG it’s like standing on the edge of a cliff - I love the thrill of free improvisation, feeding off my bandmates and the crowd’s energy to create something new and unexpected. I take these experiences in the studio with me and aim at creating from a point of not knowing. That’s where the magic happens.” www.elninodiablo.com https://soundcloud.com/elninodiablo ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY ShadowPlay EP Shadow Dancer (Remixes) - Perel, Queen Sudhara Dreamweaving EP Dorothea's Rainbow (Remixes) - Prins Thomas, Ray Mang, Perel, Elninodiablo Into The Great Unknown EP Lunchbox Candy / Let's Get Sleazy (Remixes) - The Emperor Machine, Each Other, Crate Classics, True Romantic, Elninodiablo https://elninodiablo.bandcamp.com

̸BIOGRAPHY London born, Caribbean in spirit. Founder of Touching Bass. NTS Radio host (fortnightly), music journalist, curator and ex-Boiler Room music programmer. With roots firmly anchored in his Caribbean heritage, Errol is making a name for himself as one of the UK’s most promising young DJs, broadcasters and music curators across the soulful spectrum. He’s the leading light behind Touching Bass: a movement of London-based soul disciples who hold down a biweekly NTS Radio slot, an innovative discussion/live music series called Speaking In Sound and a regular dance (specifically not called a party and communicated via texting service) among other creative endeavours. Over the last four years — heavily influenced by the openness of musical institutions like Plastic People — the TB Dance has become a playground for musical exploration. As founder and main resident, Errol has cultivated a space and DJing style unbounded by genre and lead by feeling, with talented local selectors and heavyweights equally likely to grace the decks as guests. It’s also a place where emphasis is firmly placed on good energy, dance and community above all. This attitude is steadily taking him further across UK and international dancefloors, with a debut Australia/Japan tour in March 2018 (with Alex Rita) and appearances at Field Day (warming up for Erykah Badu), Dimensions (2016/2017), Worldwide (2018) and Brainchild (2017/2018) festivals. Add to that multiple appearances at cultural institutions including the ICA, BFI (for the UK premiere of Black Panther) and TATE Britain/Modern. Errol’s dedication to resurfacing the old and introducing new music to audiences as a curator, journalist and NTS Radio host/broadcaster also hasn’t gone unnoticed. Galen founded Sunset Sound System by setting up a generator and speakers at a park in Berkeley, California every Sunday to spin records he didn’t get a chance to play anywhere else. Word spread and soon crowds into the thousands we’re dancing and picnicking while watching the sun set behind the San Francisco skyline. Today, Sunset Sound System is on the move with incredible boat and outdoor parties as well as the annual internationally acclaimed Sunset Campout Festival. Galen developed his signature sound through these weekly jams and as well as his technically proficient yet fluid dj style. The psychedelic music scene of 90s San Francisco provided a launching point to his extensive vinyl collection that spans many genres from classic disco to post-punk to roots reggae and modern house music. His sets can travel a diverse range yet maintain a conscious groove of cohesiveness, always appropriate to the time and place. They are thoughtful, yet never pre-planned, with artfully-timed track selections that spark any dance floor, appealing to the old school just as much as the new. • Hannah Holland

̸BIOGRAPHY DJ.Producer.Label Boss Hannah Holland has played a pivotal role in London’s alternative and queer London club scene since the mid-noughties, arriving on dancefloors sharing electro tinged techno but equally inspired by the influential sounds of DnB and jungle heard at legendary parties such as Metalheadz, which she had frequented in her early teens. The cultural melting pot of London, community, musical exploration and the transcendent potential of dancefloor have always been her biggest inspiration. Having already been “borrowing” (and perhaps never since returning) Kraftwerk, Grace Jones and Talking Heads records from her parents, the influence of this metropolitan musical soup ensured that Holland emerged on the decks with a unique musical character and diverse taste, hallmarks of her sound that she has not lost since, whether undertaking residencies at iconic parties such as Trailer Trash, rocking Glastonbury’s hedonistic and spectacular NYC Downlow, or undertaking far-reaching marathon sets at Berlin’s Panorama Bar. Founded in 2009 as both a record label and party, Batty Bass began Holland’s outlet to explore the disparate strains of electro, acid, techno and house that drive her charismatic DJ sets forward, delivering party-friendly wax cuts from like-minded producers such as Josh Caffe, The Carry Nation, Mama, Lauren Flax and Justin Robertson’s Deadstock 33s. The imprint also provided Holland with a self-determined platform for her own music, memorably including ‘Paris’ Acid Ball’, an acid-tinged anthem that continues to summon voguing sweat in queer spaces worldwide. Holland scored another anthemic moment in 2017, in collaboration with longtime friend and creative partner Josh Caffe on ‘Fade To Me’, released on Crosstown Rebels, following the ‘Lush EP’ ft. IMMA/MESS, via seminal UK house imprint, Classic Music. Meanwhile, her powerful remixes of DJ Hell, Goldfrapp, The Knife, Planningtorock remain as forward-thinking and exciting as the acts themselves. In 2019, Batty Bass will release a wealth of new material from Holland herself, developed alongside her role writing, producing and playing with the dark-pop band, Black Gold Buffalo, who released their self-titled, long-awaited debut album in 2018. Capturing much of the same rave euphoria and timeless sound in her early work, Holland’s upcoming releases reflect the changes in the landscape of UK dance. Recent appearances have included Fabric for the extravagant Lovechild/Vogue Ball, alongside the notorious London underground parties Savage, Chapter 10 and Adonis. On the fringes of the capital, Holland is a regular at the annual Field Manuevers boutique festival, and across the Atlantic, has guested at the infamous US rave The Carry Nation, alongside her recurring appointments at Panorama Bar in Berlin. ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY 2018 Black Magik Dawn - Josh Caffe (Prod. ̸BIOGRAPHY The term legend is often banded about far too easily, but in this case it is entirely accurate! Justin Robertson is a producer and dj, who brings with him a rich history as one of the creators of the Electronic Music scene, as well as a restless need t.. JUSTIN ROBERTSON BIOGRAPHY NOVEMBER 2013 It's hard to find a succinct way to describe a man with over 23 years experience as an innovator and restless proponent of fascinating forward thinking music, lets use Legend, its sometimes over used, sometimes misplaced, but in this case its entirely accurate. His rich history is matched only by his tireless need to keep pushing forward, as a result he remains one of the most relevant and exciting Dj/Producers around, as a whole new generation of electronic enthusiasts will sweatily testify. Justin's latest incarnation as The Deadstock 33s has been garnishing lavish praise from established figures such as Andrew Weatherall and Erol Alkan, as well as a diverse cross section of fresh talent from Daniel Avery [ with whom he has a long standing production partnership] to Eats Everything. With one album released to widespread critical acclaim, and a new collection nearing completion, several eps,for the likes of Gomma, Optimo Music, Tiger Sushi, Southern Fried, Batty Bass and Join Our Club and with a raft of top notch remixes for the likes of Paul Weller, Erol Alkan and Boys Noize, Asphodells, Justice, Steve Mason, and 2 Bears, Justin shows no sign of slowing down creatively. Justin began his journey as a student in Manchester, attracted by the flourishing musical heritage of the town, he soon fell in love with the emerging alien machine funk that would become the Acid House scene. Working at the legendary Eastern Bloc records it wasn't long before began to make his mark as a dj Creating and curating two of the uk's seminal Balearic House clubs in Spice [with Greg Fenton] and Most Excellent, where the young Chemical Brothers found inspiration. Through out the nineties Justin was consistently found at the cutting edge of club land whether it be in his own genre crunching Rebellious Jukebox [ the blueprint for eclectic clubs like the Heavenly Social] , the sweaty Techno and electronica mecca that was Sleuth, or providing the underground alternative at Cream, Justin became the bye word for uncompromising Jacking , but with a party guaranteed . The early 1990's also saw Justin begin a fruitful remixing career starting with local band Mad Jacks, Moving swiftly on to re work, Erasure, Bjork, Happy Mondays, New Order, Talk Talk, Stereo mc s, Gary Clail, Fini Tribe, Felix the Housecat and Chicken lips to name but a few in a terrifyingly huge catalogue . Inevitably His own productions soon took centre stage, scoring several top 40's and an appearance on Top of The Pops with his Genre defying Lionrock. Touring with the likes of The Chemical Brothers, the Cocteau Twins and Death In Vegas, Lionrock became one of the bands that defined the growing confidence of dance music and its potential to flourish and mutate into so many fascinating hybrids, Producing some of dance musics most famous tracks along the way , songs like Packet of Peace, Rude Boy Rock and Carnival appearing in almost any list of stone cold classics worth their salt. As the new Millennium dawned Robertson moved on ,releasing several singles for Bugged Out, with whom he has had a long and fruitful relationship. In 2001 Robertson conjured up and another genre defining release with his Revtone project, the eponymous album becoming something of a cult hit, bringing primitive house and No Wave Disco into the digital age. The seminal track Love Movement was reworked to devastating effect by Ulrich Schnauss, who has often cited Justin's work as an influence, anchoring itself to almost every top 10 end of year chart in 2003. Justin also found time to produce the achingly beautiful ''Yes It Is'' with Tim Burgess, record reggae in Jamaica with Ernest Ranglin and Nadine Sutherland, front the art rock combo Thee Earls, write songs for two Fatboy Slim albums and run his own Neverwork label releasing several singles that found favour with everyone from Ellen Alien to Paul Woolford, before embarking on the latest sonic adventure that was to be The Deadstock 33s. The Deadstock 33s has certainly seen Justin's stock rise in the last few years, from killer headline sets at Bestival, Unknown, Festival No 6, and Electric Elephant to acclaimed sessions from the Warehouse Project in Manchester to Crobar in Argentina, Justin continues to enthral , painting from a rich psychedelic pallet, taking in everything from Wigged out Disco to stripped down visceral Acid House. • Lena Willikens

Amsterdam based DJ and Producer Lena Willikens. Resident at Salon Des Amateurs, Düsseldorf. Artist on Dekmantel Rec. Radio broadcaster of "Lightning Conductor" on NTS Radio. Lena Willikens doesn’t play the hits. When she’s behind the decks, even her biggest fans often have no idea exactly what she’s playing, and that’s part of the magic. Like all DJs, Willikens of course has a passion for records and is always on the hunt for elusive bits of music, but as an artist, her work doesn’t hinge on any one track or even a handful of tracks. She’s after something bigger, something that’s truly transportive for those on the dancefloor, and the tracks she plays – whether they’re bizarre slices of synth exploration, some ominously churning proto-industrial stomp, or something else that simply defies classification – are all parts of a larger, more psychically satisfying whole. These days, however, Willikens' radio adventures happen on NTS, where she pilots the monthly Lightning Conductor program. Now based in Amsterdam, her curatory prowess prompted an invite from Dekmantel to put together the fifth installment of their acclaimed Selectors compilation series, and she also contributed a track to the label’s run of all-star 10th anniversary EPs. As a remixer, she's been tapped in recent years to rework the likes of Lena Platonos, rRoxymore, S U R V I V E, Simian Mobile Disco, and Ana Helder, amongst others. And amidst all this activity, she's also been busy with Phantom Kino Ballett, a collaboration with artist Sarah Szczesny that lands somewhere between immersive audio-visual experience and performance art, allowing Willikens to indulge her transportive impulses in a completely new way. Nevertheless, it’s in the DJ booth where Willikens continues to make the biggest impact. As of late, she’s forged a particularly potent partnership with fellow sonic explorer and Salon des Amateurs alum Vladimir Ivkovic, the two engaging in a sort of mind meld that brings together their shared love of electronic music’s darkest and most bizarre corners. • MIDLAND

̸BIOGRAPHY Midland is a DJ, Producer and Record label owner from London. Through his productions, DJ sets and record labels, Midland's output comes across as unassuming and surprising in equal measure, at once subtle, refined and totally raucous. As a Producer Midland’s style has nimbly evolved from one record to the next. From his debut release with Pearson Sound (aka Ramadanman) “Your Words Matter” via “Trace” to his most recent EP “The Alchemy of Circumstance” he has explored a vast range of styles whilst managing to keep a core sound that is truly his own. In 2013 he started his label “Graded" to focus on releasing his own music, “Archive 01”, “Drumtrak” and “Blush” all followed. This was followed by the arrival of another label, ReGraded, in which he explored the art of sampling with “Double Feature” and culminating with the release of “Final Credits” a sleeper hit that went on to be voted Mixmags song of the year in 2016. His label InterGraded was launched in 2018 focussed on releasing music by new or emerging artists. He has remixed, amongst others, Dua Lipa, The Chemical Brothers, St Vincent and Darkstar. He helped with production on Jessie Wares “Save A Kiss” alongside James Ford. It is arguable however that he has made his biggest impact with the other side of his craft: DJing. Delivering his kaleidoscopic taste with a mixing technique that nods as much to his British lineage as it does to a smoother European style, he has distinguished himself with an ability to switch styles in a way that always feels totally natural. From the carpeted dance floors at Free Rotation, via regular slots at Berlin’s “Berghain” and “Panorama Bar”, Offenbachs’ “Robert Johnson”, Glastonbury’s “NYC Downlow”, San Francisco’s “Honey Soundsystem”, London’s “Fabric”, “Horse Meat Disco” and "Chapter 10" or any of his “All Night Long” sets at “Phonox” he is able to play in a way that shows a deep understanding of the space and what is needed to bring it alive. In the words of Resident Advisor “there’s a perfect record for every moment, and he usually has it”. His recorded mixes have become word of mouth favourites and in 2016 he won “Essential Mix of the Year” for his entry into the series. In 2017 he recorded “Fabriclive94”, described by Pitchfork as “one of the year's best” and earned compilation of the year from Mixmag who featured him as their first cover of 2018. Fact Magazine said of the mix "Quietly, and without much fanfare, Midland has grown into one of the world’s best DJs. Fabriclive 94 is a testament to what makes him so great”. The only takeaway from these accolades is that Midland is a man still very much exploring and honing his craft and one of the key reasons that his ascent has never felt forced or manufactured. ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY http://www.discogs.com/artist/1202712-Midland

̸BIOGRAPHY Moxie has forged a career that has taken her all over the world to some of the most renowned clubs including Fabric, De School, Concrete and the energy dome of Berghain’s Panorama Bar.... As a radio DJ who started out covering for Sinden’s Kiss FM show in 2010, Moxie has gone on to hold down The Residency and INDJ’s We Trust slots on BBC Radio 1 and continues to have one of the longest standing residencies on NTS. Her weekly show is a staple for the latest in underground house, techno and beyond, peppered with her engaging and charismatic radio chat - hosting guests from some of dance music’s leading artistic forces including Jeff Mills, Midland, Four Tet, Honey Dijon and more. This lead to her being featured in Time Out’s article of London’s 10 best radio shows, and a main focus in Mixmag’s piece about the Rise of The Selector. She’s also provided online mixes for some of the best series around – with Essential Mix, Resident Advisor, Truants, FACT, Solid Steel, and Triple J to name but a few. Alongside her illustrious radio and DJ career, Moxie has established herself as a promoter and label founder with On Loop. Started in 2016, the party has rapidly gained momentum, welcoming artists such as Matthew Herbert, Josey Rebelle, Leon Vynehall, K-Hand and Joy Orbison, in venues across Europe and the UK. The accompanying label has just released it’s fifth compilation, having previously released music from Shanti Celeste, Lone, Nabihah Iqbal, Lady Blacktronika, and Violet. On Loop was championed as one of Mixmag’s Top 20 labels of 2017, and nominated for ‘Best Compilation’ at the DJ Mag awards. With a touring schedule ever growing at a rapid pace, Moxie continues to take her unique culmination of expertise to clubs and spaces around the globe – seamlessly fusing anything from classic Chicago house to obscure leftfield breaks, or glittering disco with energetic percussive rollers, entertaining and educating club goers wherever the journey takes her.

̸BIOGRAPHY Borned and raised in Timisoara, Romania started to play music in 2012 at the age of 16 years old, with a big passion for DJing. Born and raised in Timișoara, Romania, Narciss started playing music at the crisp age of 16, with a big passion for DJing and entertaining. He had a successful debut in one of the biggest clubs in his home town at that time, “Le Cinema”, where he continued as a resident for 2 years. Building on the experience gained in his first big club, Narciss started catching the eyes… and ears of other significant deejays from Timișoaras nightlife and from other cities with also a vibrating nightlife. Thus, he had other residencies & special guests in important clubs throughout the country. In 2019, he decided to take a step further in his passion for music and DJing and released his first single, “Things”, at 84Bit Music label, and the tune was soon to be heard in most of the sets played throughout the clubs that grab the center stage in the romanian house scene! Also, he shared the desk and played in openings for Mark Knight, Mahony, Sllash & Doppe, DJ Optick, Gamper & Dadoni, Golan and many more. Now, he is working on other projects which reunite all the hot housey vibes, in the continuous search of making people smile and have fun, no matter the times we’re facing! ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY "Things" @ 84Bit Music - 2019

̸BIOGRAPHY Manchester born and raised Neil Diablo Manchester-based Neil Diablo (aka Neil Scott) is a rarest of beasts: a mischievous dancefloor shaman who can leave fellow crate-diggers and newbie club kids equally wonderstruck by his unique compound of leftfield house, Italo Disco, Disco and Balearic aimed as much at the heart as at the hips. An expert party starter and restless music lover since his teens, Neil’s sets come over like a psychedelic road trip, blending painfully rare digs (culled from his many international record-buying trips) with hot-off-the- press secret weapons and his own sought-after productions. His relentless quest to move club crowds physically, emotionally and spiritually has taken him to international party spots such as Ibiza, Tokyo, Bali, Milan, Melbourne, Berlin and New York as well as major festivals Glastonbury, Love International & Gottwood. Neil ran the infamous El Diablo’s Social Club in Manchester from 2003 to 2018 where he plied his trade alongside some of the world's most- respected selectors, including Todd Terje, Prosumer, Rub n Tug and Prins Thomas. Two record labels - To Rack & Ruin and El Diablo’s Social Club Recordings - sprung out of this beloved institution, which were also steered by Neil. The labels featured artists such as Seahawks, Peaking Lights, Ruf Dug, Ron Basejam, Eric Duncan, Que Sakamoto and DJ Rocca. Neil’s own edits, productions and remixes have found a home at revered labels including Talking Drums, Futureboogie, Nu Northern Soul, KAT Records, Ecletics and Is It Balearic?. • Not An Animal

̸BIOGRAPHY Not An Animal is a label born from the party debris left uncleaned from London’s infamous Bad Passion parties, as ran by Chris Stoker and Andy Bainbridge who's side projects include Machete Savane, Ess O Ess & Latrec . As Chris and Andy’s energy was being devoted more and more to their musical endeavours (Chris - Ess O Ess with Jamie Blanco / Andy - Machete Savane with Saul Richards & more recently Latrec with Ali Colling) it became both a logical and inevitable step that they would eventually see the birth of their own record label, to showcase not only their own music but also that of the friends that they’ve made in over a decade of throwing and attending parties in various guises. It’s this collective nature which means that Not An Animal cannot be pinned down to one single sound, genre or style. The music is instead linked by a commonality of taste and approach from all of the artists involved. While you can draw some slight comparisons with the contributors (which include the aforementioned Ess O Ess and Machete Savane, as well as Man Power, Lauer, Roman Flugel, Chida, Suzanne Kraft, The Backwoods, Kuniyuki, Frank Butters, Justin Van Der Volgen, Discodromo, Tiago & Angophora ) it would be impossible to say that anything truly unites them further than an open aesthetic which is receptive to sounds as various as Techno, Disco, Rock, Balearica and good old fashioned House, and which doesn’t try to draw any distinction between any of them.

  • Phoebe (1)

̸BIOGRAPHY A necessary agitator in the city of Lisbon's underground, Bruno Trigo Gonçalves, aka Phoebe, has delivered some of the most urgent and desirable sonic infusions around today. Anyone who is, in fact, aware of what is being built on the clubbing circuit in Lisbon, away from the media attention, will hardly have not come across Phoebe. Whether as the founder of Troublemaker Records, at the helm of Rádio Quântica, as a programmer for the festivals Ano 0 and Rama em Flor, resident DJ at the mina or one of the pillars of Planeta Manas. In the midst of so much activity, it's almost a miracle that Phoebe manages, at the same time, to create a highly idiosyncratic musical journey, in permanent sound mutation, not letting himself be imprisoned by expectations of obeying a rigid stylistic scheme. The EP that now arrives from the hands of Discos Extends (joining a luxury catalogue composed of records by Diogo, Rabumazda, Luar Domatrix or V i L) has that urgency of someone who is always running in search of something, a light that illuminates bodies in the midst of the chaos of everyday life. “Sempre a Correr” follows the EP that Phoebe released in the summer of 2021 on Rotten \ Fresh, entitled “if i was simple in the mind, everything would be fine”, an authentic exercise in catharsis between the noisy sound walls of shoegaze and the rubble of ambient, without ever losing sight of the dance floor and the rave appeal. Since then, Phoebe hasn't stopped. At the end of 2021, he created the “Sweet Love Making” label with BLEID, through which the split “Love is patient, love is kind, love will make you lose your mind” (2021) came out, which included the songs “Marrazes” and “Causeway Bay”, authentic punches in the stomach from percussive polyrhythm. Throughout 2022 several themes were released that helped to map Phoebe's musical path, without ever seeing this puzzle completed (and thankfully): “Club Tool; “Down to Whatever;” “Estou Perdido”; and “K-LUBE 01/02”. Bruno Gonçalves, or Phoebe, will always continue to run, there is no doubt about that. The new album proves that unstoppable urgency that distinguishes him and his music ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY Affection, Troublemaker Records; 2019 Living On Valued Time, Quantica; 2020 If I Was Simple Everything Would Be Fine, Rotten fresh; 2021 Sempre a Correr, Discos Extendes/Extended Records; 2022

  • Prosumer

̸BIOGRAPHY Achim Brandenburg aka Prosumer comes from Saarbruecken, used to live in Berlin and now is based in Edinburgh. He loves house music, produces a record from time to time and likes to share the music he loves. „The craze about the music...“ ...the man called Prosumer is besotted with it. Since Achim Brandenburg heartily grabbed the microphone under this moniker in 2005 for Frankfurt’s then undisputed Label Playhouse, he showed that lasciviousness, a fever for Chicago’s Jack flavour and consciousness of tradition aren’t necessarily bound to a time and a place. Vision, passion and knowledge make Prosumer a guardian of house music history and one of the formative artists, influential DJs and important producers of our days. While deriving his name from Alvin Toffler’s techno sci-fi-bible The Third Wave (producing and consuming at the same time), Prosumer lives up to his name. With more than a decade of Hard-Wax-Record-Store-enculturation on the clock (first in Saarbrucken, then Berlin), he spent countless nights in clubs, days looking for music and years refining his art and becoming in line with the “big three”. This is not a reference to Detroit’s car companies, but the city’s musical heritage that – together with the Big Apple and the Windy city – laid the foundation for techno and house builds with the Big Apple and the Windy City. Prosumer oscillates between these poles. That holds true for his productions, which are affected by references and historical vertexes, but never feel to be out of time or place. An album with Murat Tepeli and collaborations with Tama Sumo expand his discography for labels like the aforementioned Playhouse, Running Back or Swayzak’s 240 Volts. On the other hand – and that might be far more important – this is exemplary for his DJ work since the mid-nineties. Prosumer connects the tracks and songs of this music’s golden age with the worthwhile pieces and developments of today. Accordingly to that special feeling which is so hard to couch, he gets engaged in it from tip to toe – and so does his audience. Proved by his mission as one of the residents in Berlin’s influential club institution, on his official mix CD for that place that describes his spectrum of sound perfectly and by this certain magic that travels with and in him everywhere. „Through his body and through his veins...“ ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY Prosumer - Newborn - 240 Volt Prosumer - The Craze - Playhouse Murat Tepeli feat. Like liquid mercury in a petri dish—slick, supple, and playfully disobedient—Rhyw’s music dazzles as it defies expectation. The Welsh-Greek artist cut his teeth as one half of Cassegrain and has been finding new paths for his mutant sound ever since, releasing on Fever AM, the imprint he set up with Mor Elian in 2017, as well as labels like Avian and Modeselektor’s SSPB. In the studio or behind the decks, he brilliantly fuses different strains of ultra-modern techno and broken beat: eyes-down minimal lights up with modular sass, choppy kicks flirt with rolling grooves, and sharp sound design slices through earthy subs. It’s the kind of amphibious sound that can slip into otherworldly spaces while never truly leaving the dance floor. Rhyw turned heads with the heavyweight two-tracker ‘Biggest Bully’ in 2019, earning himself sets at Berghain, Berlin Atonal, Boiler Room Tokyo and Freerotation amongst others. Online and on-air, he’s guested on Hessle Audio’s Rinse FM show and Mixmag’s ‘In Session’ mix series, and contributed podcasts to Crack and FACT. Even when they leave the gate at full pelt, these sets showcase Rhyw’s subtle sense of intricacy, balancing airy atmospheres against tougher tackle. But whatever the energy level, there’s always an alien presence in Rhyw’s sound—a shapeshifter whose twin motives are to bewitch and disorientate the listener.

  • Sam Goku

Robin Wang is Sam Goku, a Munich based DJ & Producer It is a satisfying experience when an artist manages to create a modern sound by implementing what makes dance music so dearly appreciated amongst enthusiasts: Blended noises, repetition and some cheeky, unexpected madness. Sam Goku does that in his productions - with a sleek straightforwardness that one would not expect from a rather hypnotic beat. While appearances in some of Europes most established clubs and his eclectic set at the final rendition of Secret Garden Party put him on the map, he has never stopped to refine his skills as a mixer and selector. He skilfully plays his way through myriads of subgenres and microcosm in the realm of (leftfield) house, techno and bass music, developing sets that are equally characterized by buoyant ease and yet great depth in the rhythmic, melodic and sonic details. • S-candalo

̸BIOGRAPHY S-Candalo is a DJ duo made up of Tania and Dominik Humeres-Correa (THC & DHC). They are siblings, and in their sets, one can hear alongside a deep honour for the oldschool sound a kind of telepathic link that siblings share. Raised in Germany with Colombian and Chilean roots, they are well-acquainted with the act and mindset of mixing (tracks, attitudes, languages) and keeping one’s back to another’s back. In the past years the siblings have engaged in fields ranging from music management to fashion and in their blends there is also a certain synthesis of passion and defined taste that speaks, simply, to fierceness. Fearsomeness, too – their sound is burning and relentless with seductive vocal samples, loopy synths, and bright, punchy kicks. On their recent mixes for platforms such as MARICAS, Radiant Love, Rinse FM, and HÖR, obtuse melodies from the 90s blend with sassy club bangers, then into polyrhythmic grooves, and so on. Their sound is overflowing with the queen and the queer, an energy they also direct into Venus Vessels, a non-profit music collective hosting parties and programming a residency on radio8000. With upcoming gigs this year in London, Amsterdam, Athens and Berlin, expect scandals and heated speakers from city to city.

̸BIOGRAPHY Los Angeles Alexandre Mouracade's roots in the Los Angeles music scene span the better part of two decades not only as a musician and DJ, but also as the founder of the globally hyped party, "Making Shapes" and more recently as a charting producer under the moniker, Sonns and Split Secs with Travis Kirschbaum. Mouracade's roots reach as far back as the Southern California punk scene that gave rise to an equally as rich underground club world in the 90s. He studied jazz improvisation, music theory in college which led him into the world of synths, records and record production. Mouracade's music and DJ sets reflect his passion for digging deep and not sticking to a specific genre - but by finding those tracks that have a timelessness to fit any moment on the dance floor. Since 2012, Split Secs landed on various charts and track listings when the duo’s first EP “I’m Not Losin’” (Jolly Jams) earned heavy rotation worldwide. The warm and relatable analog feel carried over to Mouracade's solo effort, SONNS with his debut track, 'On My Mind' moving feet across the globe. In addition to owning and operating the Machine Limited label with Kirschbaum, Mouracade is not only staking claim for himself as one to watch but giving Los Angeles the attention it deserves as a bastion for dance music. ̸BIOGRAPHY Performs as DJ since 1993. Residency: Berghain / Panoramabar, Freerotation, Dance Tunnel Label: OstGut Ton. Style: Deep, dry & funky news and classics from House to Techno including Disco, Broken Beat, Afrobeat .... I started out in a bar called Drama in Kreuzberg, which has been an important hang out for the scene and one of the first bars ever to feature its own djs at the weekend. The Drama has been one of the few locations featuring house music, instead of techno dominating all the other clubs and bars at that time. I used to play a lot of soulful vocal house and quickly became a resident at Globus/Tresor, as well as at the gay Saturdays at Café Moskau. „My motivation is and has been a mixture of fun and communication. Verbally as well as non-verbally. I love to create and play with different moods and atmospheres. I’m still fascinated by the fact that music can release a huge amount of energy and how music creates fun, jollying anyone along without any reason or principle. Music and bass in particular can make people happy!“ Since 1997, when I have been a resident at Globus/Tresor, I gradually opened up stylistically and didn’t feel the need anymore to go along the lines of the techno and house division. Since 2001 I regularly played at the gay/lesbian „Dance with the Aliens“ parties at the old OstGut and consequently at the end of 2004 I became a resident at the new Panorama Bar / Berghain. In the meantime I developed a varied style ranging from new and classic House to Techno including a lot of Disco, Afrobeats..... It is fundamental to my work as a DJ that I manage to let the music, the crowd and myself run freely. I have to turn off my head and go with the flow. This always is the challenge and if it works it is big fun. The crowd and i have to get kind of cosy with each other. And if I manage to build my set up and down, to go to lots of different places, it is perfect! ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY - Prosumer & Tama Sumo: Play up / Brothers, Sisters (OstGut Ton 14 / March 2008) - Tama Sumo: Panoramabar # 2 Mix CD (OstGut Ton CD 10 / October /2009) - Tama Sumo & Prosumer: Alien Mutts (Diamonds & Pearls / October 2009) - Prosumer & Tama Sumo: Rarified EP (OstGut Ton 36 / May 2010) - Mount Kimbie: William (Prosumer & Tama Sumo Remix) (Hotflush Recordings / May 2010) - Mary Boyoi: Zooz (Tama Sumo Remix) (Süd Electronic) - The Knife: Ready To Lose (Tarantism Remix) (Rabid Records)

For the last year Tayo has been resident at home, and Fabric. With Friction now at the End he is consistently playing at London’s three biggest and best clubs mixing up breaks, electro, and 4/4 grooves alongside the likes of Carl Cox, Layo & Bushwacka, Hybrid, Lee Burridge and Craig Richards. His skills behind the decks have led to profiles in i- D, Muzik Time Out, Mixmag, and Seven, and led Jockey Slut to describe him (along with Rennie and Adam) as "becoming as influential to the next generation as Fabio and Grooverider were to aspiring junglists". DJ magazine have tipped him in their’ next big five’ (alongside Yousef, Danny Howells, Fergie and Ashley Casselle) , ‘a cheeky chappy with bags of media savvy – should do well.’ He has also released a mix album on Dust II Dust records entitled ‘Planet Of The Breaks’, and will be releasing his new ‘High Tech Funk’ very soon. This year has seen the rise of Tayo’s own Mob label with releases from Rennie Pilgrem, Stanton Warriors, and DJ Technique. Telephones is renowned as a DJ for his freespirited curveball-mix ranging from balearic tutti- frutti, proto-house and percussion-workouts to cosmic techno, discokraut-gymnastics and outerworldly explorations. Starting with primitive PC-software and DJing in the late 90s, he has since equally focused on production and DJing, now with more than 20 years experience behind decks and knobs. A firm believer in quality over quantity, Telephones has released a sparse, but highly sought after discography on acclaimed underground-lables like Running Back, Sex Tags UFO, Acido, Love On The Rocks and Klasse Wrecks, as well as production work and remixes for legends like José Padilla, Joan Bibiloni and Vangelis Katsoulis to mention some. In 2016 he released his debut album, "Vibe Telemetry" on Running Back, taking his eclecticism and sound one step further, expanding the palette with influences from early Norwegian club-roots, Ambient House, NY House and Disco, 90s UK Balearic, Italo House, Underground Resistance and Detroit Techno. The album received praise and reviews from publications such as XLR8R, Mixmag, iDJ, Future Music, Resident Advisor, DJ Mag and Testpressing. 2019 saw the birth of his new label, European Carryall, kicking off with the archival-series "From The Vaults 1998-2018 Vol 1 & 2", all 12"s selling out within days, and getting both one and two represses. ̸BIOGRAPHY Bogotá-born, Berlin-based Tania Humeres Correa plays under the moniker of her own initials: THC. It’s not a gimmick – to hear a track slammed into another so deftly is a psychoactive experience. THC’s sets are kinetic, propulsive in this way. High-energy without a loss of soul, hard-hitting and still very playful and very gay. We are reminded that techno need not be a gloomy, rumbling march, and that house has a whole range of attitudes at the same time ruthless and smiling. She blazes, to put it simply. Having heated Berlin dancefloors and airwaves for a few years, THC is one of the founders and resident at La Noche and Venus Vessels. She has her own show HOT BOX at HÖR radio, and has released mixes via DJ Mag, Fact Mag and NTS. The last year has also seen her playing alongside her sibling DHC as the duo unit S-candalo. Regardless of format, there are always those THC-signatures: punch; euphoria; and streaks of vocal samples intoning the classic dancefloor theme of unity, be it political, sexual, spiritual or some sweaty mixture of it all.

̸BIOGRAPHY London based DJ and Radio Presenter The rise of online radio stations with their unrestricted musical policies has been a perfect blessing for Tia Cousins. She is a collector with a passion for in-between sounds, for experimental genres and niches both old and new. Frankly, she has a collection that belies her young years, but one that has won her plenty of recognition in underground circles, from NTS to Balamii, the Tate Gallery to Brilliant Corners. Tia's extensive knowledge reaches well into jazz, synth-pop and post-punk. But she can just as easily join the dots between EBM and cold wave on the radio as she can lay down heavier techno, breaks and chug in the club. So far her dizzyingly eclectic but well-sequenced selections have turned heads on radio stations across the country, most recently landing her on Bristol's Noods Radio for a new monthly residency. The past year has seen her join Overmono on their UK & Ireland tour as the sole support, debut at festivals like Field Maneuvers and Love international, make appearances at prolific clubs such as Fabric, Corsica Studios and The Beams alongside acts like Optimo (Espacio), Vladimir Ivkovic and Helena Hauff.

  • Tornado Wallace

First blowing a gale as a forerunner of the new wave of Melbourne dance producers, Tornado Wallace’s distinct and perceptive electronics now find him in a constant rotation of both hemispheres, spending most of the year based in Berlin. From formative house beginnings, the ESP Institute initiation Thinking Allowed proved Tornado Wallace as a force to be reckoned with - the driving groove and Will Powers stargazing quickly matched by an EP of eco-electro burners on Beats In Space. This two timing continued for another round with ESP issuing the elegant Circadia, while Beats In Space got their churning acid two-tracker Kangaroo Ground/Ferntree Gully. In tandem, krautback duo Coober Pedy University Band was formed with Otologic’s Tom Moore, who he’d previously stirred up trouble with as fractions of C Grade and Animals Dancing - two long standing parties of undeniable impact on their hometown. Their trance inducing debut on Soft Rocks' imprint Kinfolk recruited vocals from a lesser known Chet Faker, followed by the bonkers 2014 anthem Kookabura. ̸BIOGRAPHY ✧♡(◕‿◕✿) Vani Vachi is a DJ and producer currently based in Berlin, and a resident of the Ukranian queer collective Veselka. Her music taste has been shaped internationally, starting from her early years in London, and polished as being an important part of Kyiv’s rising scene, where she curated the Outside Festival and Gems party in the underground club Otel’. Her sets are always unique and unpredictable, with the strong favor towards 90’s and 2000’s flavors, mixture of broken and straight beats, classical acid basslines and groovy sounds. Being a front-row dancer herself, she knows that the journey is what is always needed through the night – and when performing, always putting the dancefloors through the metamorphosis of layers, textures, and kicks. Her rising career list already includes an impressive international festival list, such as Brave! Factory, ICKPA by Bassiani, Roskilde, Feel, and Whole appearances, as well as being a regular at Berlin’s Pornceptual parties, featuring mixtapes in Mixmag and CXEMA, and playing in the infamous green bathroom Hör. With her first EP release on Diffuse Reality coming out this summer, she’s expected to establish a presence in Europe and beyond, and of course bring heat to many more dancefloors!

  • Vince_Leo Küchle

vince alias Leo Küchler is one of those restless souls who blazes bright in times depicted by a constant overdrive of pragmatism and functionality. This young, passionate and rebellious boy challenges mediocrity by always making the effort to walk the extra mile in everything he approaches. No wonder, his DJ sets will take you on a ride, far from jumping on an express train, throughout the mysterious jungles dance music culture has to offer. Though always having an eye for the dancer, he still makes use of the spectrum made up of disco, house, techno and even pop from left to right and everything in between. You might call it wild style, he nonetheless manages to combine everything, track by track, soulfully and gently into an exciting and enthralling story, that will catch your breath and suck you into his very own definition of a perfect night out. “What you give is what you get”, they say, and in Leo’s case this has proven to be true again. In his former hometown Munich, he stood out by his efforts to fight for realness and an awareness of the past and present, thereby defining the very future of the culture he invests in with all he has got. After his long-time residency night “Vicious Circle”, formerly based in the once notorious Bob Beaman club, he and his colleagues decided to explore new territory with Blitz Music Club, where he holds a residency in, without any doubt, one of the most ambitious clubs in Europe. After moving to Vienna, Leo hesitantly got involved in the local scene. But becoming part of the Lighthouse Festival family (former crew of renowned club Pratersauna) definitely set the ball rolling for him. For the music lover and scene aficionado he is, being co-responsible now for the musical program of Lighthouse Festival Croatia and South Africa is like another dream coming true. Love comes from the heart and so does Leo’s music. Once he’s in control over the booth, he stirs the starship technically perfectly executed from the beginning of the night till the very end of the afterhours, always full of the emotions that will take us all the way down and up there again. Once you let him take you by his hand, you will never want to let go again.

  • Violet (PT)

̸BIOGRAPHY Producer and DJ from Lisbon, Portugal DJ, producer, boss of Naive records, co-founder of Rádio Quântica, and mina resident Violet has been shaking up Lisbon’s nightlife culture. Since moving back to Portugal in 2016, Violet’s talent for elegantly blending techno with breakbeats and acid basslines has been recognised. Inês Borges Coutinho, aka Violet, sees her role in the Lisbon underground far beyond making and mixing music, using her seemingly boundless energy to amplify other artists all the while progressing her own creative practice. Violet began producing records in 2012, and her output includes The Chain and River Styx EPs on One Eyed Jack’s. Based in London for a time, Coutinho returned to Portugal full of drive, which pushed her to start Naive and found online station Rádio Quântica, both in an effort to give a platform to marginalised artists. Her positive energy and openness began to attract the LGBTQ community, and she began working with mina, a collective that aims to bring ravers and DJs together with sexual and gender liberation causes. Mykki Blanco named Violet as one of the most influential DJs in the underground scene: “it became clear to me who was moving and shaking things up in this city…Violet represents to me the change I want to see in this world, which is powerful women running electronic music and beyond.” At Lisbon Pride, as a demonstration against the lack of representation for the trans community, Violet invited various trans artists to gatecrash her DJ set and occupy her platform. Since the release of Violet’s Togetherness EP, her label naive has staked its claim as one of underground dance music’s most exciting new labels. In 2018 came three critically acclaimed 12’’s from Violet and BLEID, Almaty’s Gennaro, and Octo Octa & Eris Drew. At the end of 2018, Mixmag named Naive one of their top 25 records labels of the year. ̸SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY Violet - Togetherness (naive) Violet - Eternal Fountain (Paraíso) Violet - River Styx (One Eyed Jacks) Emauz - 1968 (Violet Remix) Violet - Night Song (Snuff Trax) Violet - The Chain (One Eyed Jacks) Violet - Collective Data (Wicked Bass)

  • Vladimir Ivkovic

„The challenging sets he delivers are not always easy, but almost always ingenious“ Strange Sounds From Beyond Vladimir Ivkovic is a DJ. He’s more than that of course, but as his essence, Ivkovic is someone with a particularly unique talent for selecting records and weaving them into a larger – and often unusually compelling – narrative. Born and raised in Belgrade, he first dabbled in DJing as a teenager in the mid ’80s, but it was only after leaving Yugoslavia (to study in Germany) and later coming back for a summertime visit that he truly immersed himself in the craft, taking up position behind the decks during a series of impromptu parties at a lakeside restaurant owned by his parents. From there, he spent much of the next two decades honing his skills while throwing events like Selected and Substance that played host to a cross-section of boundary-pushing DJs, long before it was fashionable to do so. Eventually, Ivkovic found his musical and spiritual home at Salon des Amateurs, an unassuming spot in Düsseldorf that’s gradually proven to be wildly influential, giving rise in recent years to otherworldly talents like Lena Willikens, Tolouse Low Trax, Jan Schulte and many others, including Ivkovic himself. With its small size, Salon des Amateurs provided something of an open platform, a place where true music lovers could experience DJs exploring sounds and genres that strayed far from traditional electronic dance music tropes. That same adventurous spirit has found its way into Ivkovic’s curation of Offen Music, a label he launched in 2015. Although the imprint’s output is all but impossible to neatly categorize – experimental Serbian rarities sit alongside ambient excursions and moody synth-pop in the label’s catalogue – the label’s open-minded approach and embrace of off-kilter sounds perfectly encapsulates Ivkovic’s artistic temperament. In recent years, that temperament has increasingly found devoted followers all around the globe. Simply put, Ivkovic has become a staple of the European club circuit; despite his many years in the humble confines of Salon des Amateurs, he’s proven to be just as comfortable at celebrated nightspots like De School (Amsterdam), Berghain (Berlin), Nitsa (Barcelona), Kaiku (Helsinki), Sub Club (Glasgow), Phonox (London), Fold (London), Corsica Studios (London), The White Hotel (Manchester), Mutabor (Moscow), Pacha (Ibiza), Blitz (Munich), Zukunft (Zurich), Concrete (Paris), Lux Fragil (Lisbon), Robert Johnson (Frankfurt), Circoloco (Ibiza) and others too numerous to list. He’s no stranger to touring either, having taken extended DJ trips to Canada (September 2017), Asia (July 2018), Australia (January 2018), Brazil and Colombia (March 2018), USA (2019, April 2022), Brazil (September 2022). Even the festival circuit has come calling, inviting Ivkovic and his inventive rhythms to large-scale events like Primavera Sound, Unsound, World Minimal Music, Houghton, Strange Sounds from Beyond, Dekmantel, Flow, TodaysArt, Robot, Waking Life, Terraforma, Dancity, Positive Education, Elevate, Love International, Dimensions, Kala, Sziget, The Crave … and that’s just a partial list. Still, despite all of these international adventures, Ivkovic has kept his focus on music, especially the dark and often psychedelic sounds that lurk in its unexplored corners. Each month, he distilled some of that love into Lunatic Love Songs, a much-loved and sonically borderless program on Red Bull Radio. He still does it with his frequent contributions for Noods Radio, Kiosk Radio or Oddity Radio to name a few. Whether he’s broadcasting on the radio or piloting the dancefloor, Ivkovic is someone who applies a curatorial mindset and a deep love of music to all of his creative exploits. Yes, he’s a DJ, but he’s so much more than that; he’s a storyteller, a connoisseur and, most importantly, an artist. • Warehouse Preservation Society

LA's sultans of sleaze The inception of WAREHOUSE PRESERVATION SOCIETY was less an intention than an imperative of their expression. It was only a matter of imperious time before Los Angeles residents, TK & Tavish, disseminated their own breed of funked-up industrial dancefloor energy. Their distinct musical resonance was automatic, and they leapt quickly to crafting remixes and original material for the global nightlife community. TK (formerly TK Disko) cut his teeth in San Francisco’s fervent underground of the 90s, and created a healthy sonic catalogue under the name Split Secs with partner Sonns. He has played more events than one can count, and thoroughly detonated dance floors the world over. TAVISH was born and raised within the Los Angeles music scene, adeptly transmuting from hip-hop to house & techno and back again. He has produced a wealth of records under different monikers and also collaborated with Sonns for a 12” for LA’s own ESP Institute. In recent years, the freshly-minted Warehouse Preservation Society released cuts on Rogue Cat Records and Machine Limited, and have landed remix works with such esteemed artists as Daniele Baldelli & DJ Rocca (ultimately sitting aboard DJ Harvey’s second Pikes Comp); plus Anton Klint & Artur 8, Romain FX, Mickey Van Seenus, and DJ Garth & Anthony Mansfield. Original cuts have naturally propagated as well; having neatly thrown an EP and some bonus loosies out with Bristol’s Futureboogie Recordings, Dusk Recordings, and a knocker on Paramida’s Love On The Rocks label. Upcoming releases include reworks for Wicked Records, Hardway Bros, Our Starry Universe, and the legendary disco professor himself, Gary Davis. ̸ SELECTED DISCOGRAPHY Tegel Boys - Simple Cat (Warehouse Preservation Society Remix) - True Blue Music 2022 Cici - Venus (Warehouse Preservation Society Remix) - Me Me Me 2022 Caucasian Boy - Reasons (Warehouse Preservation Society Remix) - Century City Music 2022 Tronik Youth - Kutt-Outs Moon City (Warehouse Preservation Society Remix) - Roam 2022 Psychemagik - Above The Clouds (Warehouse Preservation Society Remix) - Psychemagik 2022 Warehouse Preservation Society - Endlessly EP - Futureboogie 2021 Tranquil Elephantizer - Moon City (Warehouse Preservation Society Remix) Futureboogie 2021 Warehouse Preservation Society "Body Station" Dusk Recordings 2021 Playtime Toons "Shaker Song (Warehouse Preservation Society 30 Year Anniversary Remix)" Shaboom 2020 Fanatico - "Take It All (Warehouse Preservation Society Remix)" Hallucienda 2020 Newborn JR "NJ Public Pool (Warehouse Preservation Society Remix)" King Of Kong 2019 Daniele Baldelli and DJ Rocca "Taylorpo (Warehouse Preservation Society remixes) Rouge Cat Sounds 2019 DJ Garth & Anthony Mansfield "Room Service (Warehouse Preservation Society remixes)" Wicked Records 2019 Flamingo Flame "Simmer (Warehouse Preservation Society remix)" Rouge Cat Sounds 2019 Warehouse Preservation Society "Multitude Of Sin" Machine Limited 2019

̸BIOGRAPHY In Istanbul’s vivid electronic music scene trends come and go. Only a handful of properties remain, regardless of this rapid and constant change. Yeşim Unan is one of these rare phenomenons of the city, who keeps her groove steady for a long time. Starting to put together her musical library in the late 90’s, she soon became a sought after name in the growing dance music scene of the 2000’s. Adopting Juliewinters name at the early period of her career, she was not only a mainstay at the booths of the renowned clubs and festivals of the era, but also a creative force contributing to the scene as a graphic, stage and concept designer, event manager, editor, radio programmer and musical director. In 2008, Yeşim was chosen as Turkey’s participant to Red Bull Music Academy in Barcelona. From there on she carved herself a distinguished style, while doing the nightshift at the iconic venues of the local scene like Pixie, Arka Oda, Wake Up Call, Suma Beach or Mama to name a few. Since 2017 Yeşim has been performing under the name Y.UNAN. Whether she bangs her renowned unique sound rooted to electro and techno at big stages like Sonar, Big Burn, Red Bull Music Festival, Tresor, ://about blank, Razzmatazz, or plays avant-garde dance sounds in more intimate venues, she always brings her personal approach of groove, feeding on concepts like time, space, and diversity. Early in 2022 they teamed up with Berlin based Nene H and introduced a Berlin-Istanbul collective to the scene called Sirän, to connect local and international communities, to organize gatherings for the marginalized creatives and lovers of the underground.

̸BIOGRAPHY yung_womb is a genre fluid DJ, selector, radio host and performer based in hamburg and founding member of the DJ network SLIC Unit. Influenced by the amounts of CDs her parents would buy to prepare their dance-classes, she would invent her own performances to an overload of different folkloric sounds from around the world, but also Hip-Hop, R&B and Merengue Hip-Rap of the 90s and 00s. So, it comes with no surprise that you can still hear in her selections, how heavily she is influenced by the way the tune makes her move. In her vinyl collection she has a broad range of styles she likes to play, focusing on 70s and 80s Jazz, contemporary Jazz and Jazz-Fusion, Funk, Organic Grooves and vintage -Salsa and -Caribbean music.
