̸BIOGRAPHY
Oli Keens is a disco DJ from London and a resident with queer party collective, Little Gay Brother.
DJ life hasn't always been lush for Oli Keens...
He once had to carry a burning speaker out of a school disco in Wembley, while a load of sixth-formers pissed themselves, obviously.
Grandmaster Flash called him 'a disgrace to hip hop' when he turned up for his first club date without slipmatts and needles. Harsh, right?
He once played a gig at a hospice.
He once played a Christmas party for some confused London cabbies in a greasy spoon under the A40 flyover.
He once played a gig on an army barracks in Essex. Three men got naked. That bit was actually quite cool.
...anyway, the point of mentioning this malarky is that, years later, it feels like a complete DELIGHT for this London-based DJ to play music in more conventionally conventional places. Oli Keens is a fiendish collector of disco and loves nothing more than sharing his finds and spreading joy, weekend after weekend.
Oli is a resident for London queer party collective Little Gay Brother, who give him the space, support and big drag energy to tell a unique disco story at their epic Omeara parties, headline sets at Meadows in the Mountains, Elrow takeovers and more. He's played for Percolate at some very lovely rave-'em-ups at Hangar and Queens Yard Summer Party and for Savage at their kinky Metropolis mothership. He’s also played just about every sonic nook and danceable cranny in his hometown of London (where he’s also been the Music and Nightlife Editor of Time Out magazine for the last five years): XOYO, Egg, Omeara, Koko, Royal Academy, The Nest, Spiritland, Bethnal Green Working Men's Club, Magazine, Oslo, Dalston Superstore, Scala, Heaven, Metropolis. He’s also done shows for Rinse FM and played a glut of festivals, such as Bestival, Lovebox, Secret Garden Party, Mighty Hoopla, Standon Calling and Wilderness.
