̸BIOGRAPHY Dar Disku is an independent record label and dj collective founded in 2019 and based between London and Bahrain - championing the sounds of the Middle East, Asia and beyond. ​ ​ 'Dar-Disku' comes from the 1970s Egyptian pop culture magazine of the same name and directly translates into 'home of the disco'. Dar Disku is a label celebrating music from across Arabia. Founded by Mazen AlMaskati and Vish Matre in 2019; the label encompasses all things High NRG, New Beat, Strange and Pure. Growing up less than a mile apart in Bahrain with a shared fascination with discovering new music, the duo quickly bonded over digging for unheard rarities and burning mixtapes to show friends and strangers, and till today, this remains changed. Whether at a house party, over a traditional Bahraini meal or at a local underground gig, chats about left field music would always spiral from one artist to the next and back, but more and more, talks about music turned into talks about culture and soon enough; home. Mazen and Vish left Bahrain with pockets full of Radiohead, Aphex Twin, Daft Punk and Benga. But looking back across the water, the music their parents played on dusty turntables, the art and culture that surrounded them their entire lives became more than nostalgic, it became hypnotically fascinating. From learning about the microtonal arrangements in Farsi music to learning south Indian polyrhythms and the almost forgotten 1970s punk rock and psychedelia movements in Egypt, Lebanon and Iran, they couldn’t help but think, what comes next? She is unapologetically black, queer, and a life long student of the tenets of House Music. The year 2020 found her at the top of her game after a debut European tour during August 2019, her name was popping up on top bills on a weekly basis in NYC. Her energetic, yet deep approach to DJing has seen this Boston to Brooklyn transplant lighting up dancefloors all over; in particular, garnering attention in the queer party scene. This mixes well with her ethos: using her influence to create space for marginalized groups to express & organize themselves. Her aim is to contribute to & sustain more spaces where these groups are valued and thanked by name for their contributions to humanity. Thank the OG Black innovators of House & Techno! Thank you, Disco-era Queens & Queers alike for the theatrics & fanfare of nightlife as we know it! There are homages to these origins alluded to in her taste and most noteworthy mixes. It cut an arch through dance music’s past and present to convey an interesting melding of Dee’s signature sounds: lyrical storied tracks, sensual club edits, soulful realness, sneaky grooves, passionate thumpers, and nostalgic endings. New Delhi-raised, Bali-based DJ, DITA. New Delhi raised, Bali-based artist DITA began her DJ-ing career in 2014 after being exposed to the varying perspectives constituting Indonesia’s music culture. Exploring the sounds with a keen ear and a growing excitement, DITA established her collective “Interrupted” which solidified her eclectic practice as she bounced between Jakartan and Balinese dance-floors. Armed with musical prowess and an infectious spirit, you can now find DITA with a wide-range of versatile selections including Proto-House, Disco, 90’s breaks, Balearic and beyond. ‍ DITA’s nuanced sound curated over the years has seen her play on stages such as Boiler Room, Wonderfruit Festival, all across Australia and at Potato Head Bali where she is a key resident.

Shimada has independently collaborated with a myriad of artists in Melbourne and overseas, performing and recording with Clever Austin, Paul Bender (Hiatus Kaiyote), Jace XL, Allysha Joy and Dufresne – music that can be found on releases by Worldwide FM and Stamp The Wax. With an undercurrent of feminism, cultural curiosity and a political mindset, Shimada’s musicianship been shown on stages supporting Lonnie Liston Smith, Giles Peterson and The Australian Art Orchestra.

Over the past year, DJ FFAN has been showing his strong presence in the underground club scene of Seoul, while playing liaison role between Seoul and overseas dance music scene. He has been hosting various party series including The Monkey Business, Dub Plate and Anger Management Disco Club, and making it very successful with a lot of great guests from Asia, Europe and North America, such as Chida, Eric Duncan, Justin Van Der Volgen, The Backwoods, Tiago, Gonno, Hugo Capablanca. FFAN is the son of DJ Lee Jin, who is the Korea’s very first club DJ, which means he’s making special geneology as the only second generation DJ in Korea. In 2009, FFAN started DJing as a resident DJ of Club Via. Then he made his mark by becoming a member of Lad Monkeys and Disco Experience. In 2010, he started hosting a party series called ‘The Monkey Business’, and raised himself as a next generation DJ of Korea’s Disco & House music scene. He’s known for captivating people on the dancefloors by multifarious sounds and storytelling, mainly based on Dub Disco, House and Techno. GIDEÖN (HOMO-CENTRIC RECORDS / NYC DOWNLOW / ADONIS / R3 SOUNDSYSTEM / BLOCK9) GIDEÖN has a background in music spanning 30 years. In addition to his practice as a recording artist, stage designer and curator, he is a touring DJ and is an avid collector of vinyl. Since his first set of turntables in 1990, GIDEÖN has devoted his life to collecting vinyl from the US, Jamaica, Latin America, Africa, and the UK. He specialises in Northern Soul, Latin, Reggae, Gospel, and Disco rarities. House Music, above all, is his first and greatest love. He has a degree in Music with Visual Practice (BA Hons) and is currently guest Creative Director of Music for London Borough of Culture 2022. GIDEÖN co-founded, co-created and curates Block9’s festival nightlife institutions NYC Downlow, Genosys, Maceo’s and IICON and is also resident and co-booker at London’s hottest queer club night Adonis. As a radio DJ, GIDEÖN has been actively involved in broadcasting for many years now. How many, after moving to New York by way of San Francisco in the early ’00s, can say that they helped to rejuvenate the city’s then-stale nightlife via her residency at one of the best parties ever held in a hole-in-the-wall gay bar, the Mad Clams affair? Mogwaa is one of South Korea's shining stars. A producer with a vast repertoire of styles under his belt, he takes rhythmic cues from a wide palette, including jazz-funk, Latin percussion and dreamwave. One of Belgium’s most acclaimed DJ, Nosedrip from Ostend. As a Dj, Nosedrip sets moods like no-one else and leaves dancefloors gasping for breath everywhere he goes. An amazing selector who has been regularly playing all over Europe with a remarked appearance at Dekmantel festival last year. In the space of just a few years, Nosedrip made a name for himself with the persistence and focus of a kid that wants to prove all his bullies wrong. His UK driven sound has taken all over the world playing venues and festivals such as Zukunft, Silbergold, Village Underground, Fabric and Feel Festival. He can be seen playing regularly at some of Bangkok’s key parties and venues such as Never Normal, De Commune, Karma, Transport and Wonderfruit Festival. Under quarantine in 2020 Sarayu released his first track on a VA compilation “Harvest Vol. 1”, under his own imprint. In 2021 he released his debut EP “Pridi 303” again, on More Rice, remixed by MR. Co-founder of Sivilian Affairs and music director for Potato Head and Kilo in Singapore, Sivanesh also holds a monthly residency on AAJA Radio in London every third Monday of the month. Friends for almost 2 decades, the two Joshuas formed Space Afrika after years of listening to music together, sequestered by harsh Northern winters. Heavily inspired by the industrial architecture of Northwest England and notions of travel, their sonic framework evokes images of rust and disintegrating concrete, and sensations of movement and redemption — exuding a distorted analogue soul offering escape into their overcast skies. First blowing a gale as a forerunner of the new wave of Melbourne dance producers, Tornado Wallace’s distinct and perceptive electronics now find him in a constant rotation of both hemispheres, spending most of the year based in Berlin. From formative house beginnings, the ESP Institute initiation Thinking Allowed proved Tornado Wallace as a force to be reckoned with - the driving groove and Will Powers stargazing quickly matched by an EP of eco-electro burners on Beats In Space. This two timing continued for another round with ESP issuing the elegant Circadia, while Beats In Space got their churning acid two-tracker Kangaroo Ground/Ferntree Gully. In tandem, krautback duo Coober Pedy University Band was formed with Otologic’s Tom Moore, who he’d previously stirred up trouble with as fractions of C Grade and Animals Dancing - two long standing parties of undeniable impact on their hometown.
